Every single member of staff, without exception, showed my Dad the utmost care, patience, understanding, love, and respect. He was always treated with dignity, and it was clear to me that his needs always came first. I saw firsthand over 13 months what outstanding care looks like. The compassion extended
to my Dad was equally extended to me. I always left Oxendon House knowing my Dad was safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for, and that peace of mind meant the world to me. Communication with management was always open and honest; nothing was ever too much trouble. It was evident that everyone's focus was on doing what was best for my Dad. What sets Oxendon House apart is that everyone there truly cares, not in a procedural sense, but from the heart. I feel so grateful and fortunate that my Dad was cared for at Oxendon House. He was treated with respect, kindness, dignity, and love every single day, and for this, I will be forever thankful.

My mother has been a resident at South Moor Lodge since November 2024. She suffers with dementia. I visit twice a week and during that time I have found your staff to be polite friendly and helpful. They treat residents with respect and show remarkable patience in what must be an extremely stressful
job. Please keep up the good work.

On the whole the staff are lovely. But there are issues:
Parking is a nightmare. Quite often you have to park a significant distance down the road as car park is full of staff cars, not ideal when you want to take a resident out.
Getting into and out of the building is a nightmare. We regularly wait
20minutes or more to be let in or out.
Call bells go unanswered, linking to my previous comment we were told to press the call bell when we want to leave. I've waited 30 to 40 minutes on several occasions for any staff to respond to the call bell, good job it has never been for a fall or needing the toilet.
Cleanliness is lacking, beds are not changed regularly, cobwebs there for weeks and regularly I have to ask for juice to be changed as it is left for days, sometimes with flies in it.
I have raised my concerns before with Jasmine care but recieved no response.
Reply from Lisa McAnulty, Home Manager at South Moor Lodge Care HomeThank you for your review like all reviews positive or negative we do take them very serious, I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service we provide, This is the first time i am hearing about your concerns or issues, If i am unaware of this i am then unable to investigate and action. The car park unfortunately cant be helped all family members were made aware about the building work going on and the extension being added onto the home, In which everyone new they may have to park on the fronts for a short time. We now have a roof over the front door and a bench that you can sit on just in case it takes a few minutes before the front door can be answered depending on the time of day you are visiting. If you do continue to feel this way or have any concerns or issues could you please ensure you raise them with me so we can action where required.
Kind Regards

My mum has been a resident at Avenue House since January of this year after moving from another part of the country. The staff are fantastic, always helpful and they make what was a difficult decision (to move mum into care) the absolute right one. The home is modern and clean and even has it's own
little outdoor cinema. Would thoroughly recommend knowing you have piece of mind that your loved one is safe and well cared for.

The staff are amazing. The level of care that they provide for my mother is first class. They stimulate her following a severe stroke and are compassionate, thoughtful and genuinely put the "care" into care.
Being such an independent lady prior to her stroke, it has been a difficult adjustment to
make. I would class the whole team as friends and an extension to our family.

This is a brief honest review, one overriding piece of advise is, please take the time to ask questions regarding record keeping.
Since becoming a resident within the Avenue Care Home we have seen a massive deterioration in all aspects of my mother's physical wellbeing. We chose this Care Home on the
cleanliness of the building, resident facilities and the 'feeling' of the home. Unfortunately some important aspects have badly let my mother down and us as a family. The advice I would give is, do not get blinded by nice curtains and friendly staff, the most important aspect is that your family member is safe, adequately monitored and treated with dignity, this is not obvious to see.
You will see we are positive concerning some issues, however some fundamental elements let the whole home down and makes it essential for you to ignore the smiles and ask for evidence that your relative is receiving all the parts of the care plan, as they will refer to this being done, please check.
Reply from Sam Hoare-Wilkinson, Manager at Avenue House Nursing & Care HomeGood morning Sorry to hear you feel this way As you can appreciate i cannot discussed individual cases publicly. My mother-in-law has been in Nightingale Nursing Home for 8 weeks. Her health, to a certain point, has improved; she seems to have settled in fine; she is eating more, and at times is very happy; it was the best place for her, as at 93 she could no longer care for herself. Overall we are very happy

I cannot speak highly enough of South Moor Lodge Care Home. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed with warmth and kindness that instantly puts families at ease. The staff are exceptional-professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. They take time to know each resident, tailoring support to
individual needs, and go above and beyond to create a safe, comfortable, and happy environment.
The home is clean, thoughtfully designed, and offers engaging activities and nutritious meals for all dietary needs. Communication with families is excellent, giving great peace of mind.
My mum lived here for three years until she passed away, and the care was phenomenal throughout. The dedication, patience, and compassion of every staff member created a true home for Mum and comfort for me. Knowing she was in such capable, loving hands brought immense reassurance. We will always be deeply grateful.
With heartfelt thanks.
