Dad has dementia which is ever more progressing and living alone was increasingly unsafe for him. Finding South Moor Lodge has been a blessing - by far the best care home in the area (and we saw a few). He moved in Spring 2026 and has now settled really well, largely due to Lisa's superb team - all the staff are so patient and lovely with him and offer reassurance and kindness (as well as a gentle prod when he's feeling grumpy to encourage him out of it!) His room is personalised to him, and we were encouraged to set it up with familiar things around him, including hanging pictures on the wall. Nothing is too difficult to accommodate. The home is bright and airy; the housekeeping team make sure Dad's room is cleaned regularly, and the communal areas are welcoming, including the outside spaces. The food always smells fantastic, enough to tempt even the most jaded palate - and Dad adores the puddings. Admitting to ourselves that Dad needed care we couldn't provide ourselves was tough. But South Moor has given us the peace of mind that he is safe, looked after and well cared for 24/7. They're amazing and he's thriving.

Whenever I visit my sister I am met at the door by a smiling member of staff, the care home is comfortable, clean and the decor is wonderful. My sister is well cared for and is comfortable there. The staff can't do enough for her. The food is very good. Any small request is acted on immediately. The activities are well thought out to provide interaction for the residents.

I cannot praise nightingale enough. From day one, they have seen my grandad as an individual, not just a resident - learning his likes, dislikes, preferences and life story, and building all his care around him. They even know he likes extra sugar in his tea.

Staff are kind, respectful and attentive, treating him with dignity and warmth at all times. The home feels homely, and we are always kept fully informed and involved.

Choosing a care home was so hard, but we feel so lucky we found this one. It gives us huge peace of mind knowing he is safe, happy and cherished. Thank you all so much.

It is now 6 months since my wife moved into South Moor Lodge having previously attended day care twice a week. From her first day visit to residency, I have seen how dedicated the team are, from management down. This has not changed and they all deserve my sincere and grateful thanks for their care. With her being non-verbal, this must be difficult at times

All of the staff, and I mean all, were so kind and supportive during a truly upsetting and traumatic time, nothing was too much for them, for which we are truly grateful.

I am very happy with my mum's care as she fades away from us, it's warming to see her encouraged to join in with various activities. She is always clean and warm and I feel she is cared for.

My Dad has been a resident at Nightingale Care Home for 5 years, during this time I have seen many improvements, all the staff are lovely, you can see that they really care about the residents, they always have a smile and a friendly word for both the residents & visitors, the care home has a very engaging entertainment program which they share with relatives, following a few illnesses, & hospital visits, I have seem a definite improvement in his wellbeing.

Every time I have visited, I have found the staff very friendly, helpful and cheerful. They have been very caring towards my sister. The rooms are very pleasant and roomy. The gardens are well kept and secure. All in all a very nice place to live. The whole building is very clean and fresh.

They have an activity organiser & a lovely conservatory & garden to go into. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

I visited South Moor Lodge to see my sister who is a resident there, it was my first visit so cannot comment on some aspects. I found it clean, calm, welcoming, the staff were respectful to residents and visitors. My sister was clean, with her hair, teeth done. Her clothes were clean and coordinated, which shows care. I found it calm, pleasant surroundings.

The whole place is spotlessly clean and the staff create such a friendly atmosphere.

My experience of South Moor Care Home is truly first class, the home is beautiful, and so well kept and clean. I could not be happier with my wife, she is so well looked after. The staff are so good and kind. My wife is in South Moor Lodge Care Home over 1 year now, and I could not be more pleased, and grateful. Many thanks.

My mother has been a resident at South Moor Lodge since November 2024. She suffers with dementia and detested the thought of going into a care home . However since day one the staff have been excellent with her, helping her settle in. Staff are kind, helpful and do an excellent job in very stressful circumstances. The home is clean, the food excellent and the rooms are well maintained and spacious.

It is so good to see the new management team in, who have made a great effort to meet the family of the residents and to feel as if they are personally involved with the residents.

The care I saw provided for my grandma was amazing, South Moor is a friendly clean place and all residents appear very cared for.

My husband spent two weeks at South Moor for rehabilitation after a serious head injury. He was provided the perfect conditions to improve his mobility. This enabled him to return home after appropriate improvements to the house. Thank you South Moor.

I appreciate the care and understanding it takes to look after elderly people with all their many foibles and characteristics and their work is much appreciated

My mother-in-law has been in this home since last June and since then she has thrived, the staff are so kind and any problems I can talk to them, or management, there door is always open. The home is welcoming and we know all the staff by name, and we like that they call us by our first names, as it makes you feel like one of the family. The rooms are comfortable, with a walk in shower, the food is good, and they do a marvellous job, overall it takes a lot of my mind knowing she is happy and well looked after.

The Nightingale Nursing Home is a lovely care home. The staff are caring and very patient. I am happy to having my brother live here.
