My experience of South Moor Care Home is truly first class, the home is beautiful, and so well kept and clean. I could not be happier with my wife, she is so well looked after. The staff are so good and kind. My wife is in South Moor Lodge Care Home over 1 year now, and I could not be more pleased,

My mother has been a resident at South Moor Lodge since November 2024. She suffers with dementia and detested the thought of going into a care home . However since day one the staff have been excellent with her, helping her settle in. Staff are kind, helpful and do an excellent job in very stressful
circumstances. The home is clean, the food excellent and the rooms are well maintained and spacious.

The care that Mum receives from the home is amazing. They are so professional, but they make it feel like her own home. Their interaction's with both Mum and the family are special to watch. Kisses are blown on a daily basis from the maintenance staff, to the cleaners and nursing staff.
It is so good
to see the new management team in, who have made a great effort to meet the family of the residents and to feel as if they are personally involved with the residents.

My husband spent two weeks at South Moor for rehabilitation after a serious head injury. He was provided the perfect conditions to improve his mobility. This enabled him to return home after appropriate improvements to the house. Thank you South Moor.

My relative has now been in Nightingale for the last 2+ years and during this time I have found the staff extremly capable and experinced, helpful and efficient and most of all caring to each individual they look after.
The home is pleasant clean and bright and airy and welcoming.
I appreciate the
care and understanding it takes to look after elderly people with all their many foibles and characteristics and their work is much appreciated

My mother-in-law has been in this home since last June and since then she has thrived, the staff are so kind and any problems I can talk to them, or management, there door is always open. The home is welcoming and we know all the staff by name, and we like that they call us by our first names, as it
makes you feel like one of the family. The rooms are comfortable, with a walk in shower, the food is good, and they do a marvellous job, overall it takes a lot of my mind knowing she is happy and well looked after.

On the whole the staff are lovely. But there are issues:
Parking is a nightmare. Quite often you have to park a significant distance down the road as car park is full of staff cars, not ideal when you want to take a resident out.
Getting into and out of the building is a nightmare. We regularly wait
20minutes or more to be let in or out.
Call bells go unanswered, linking to my previous comment we were told to press the call bell when we want to leave. I've waited 30 to 40 minutes on several occasions for any staff to respond to the call bell, good job it has never been for a fall or needing the toilet.
Cleanliness is lacking, beds are not changed regularly, cobwebs there for weeks and regularly I have to ask for juice to be changed as it is left for days, sometimes with flies in it.
I have raised my concerns before with Jasmine care but recieved no response.

The car park unfortunately cant be helped all family members were made aware about the building work going on and the extension being added onto the home, In which everyone new they may have to park on the fronts for a short time. We now have a roof over the front door and a bench that you can sit on just in case it takes a few minutes before the front door can be answered depending on the time of day you are visiting. If you do continue to feel this way or have any concerns or issues could you please ensure you raise them with me so we can action where required.

I can not praise South Moor enough for making mum so welcome and for the exceptional care they give her. All the staff are fantastic and work so hard, and work with us as a family to give mum the best care needed. The standard exceeds anything I could have imagined and has changed my perception of care
homes. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you to all the staff at South Moor from all of us as a family.

The staff are amazing. The level of care that they provide for my mother is first class. They stimulate her following a severe stroke and are compassionate, thoughtful and genuinely put the "care" into care.
Being such an independent lady prior to her stroke, it has been a difficult adjustment to
make. I would class the whole team as friends and an extension to our family.

I cannot speak highly enough of South Moor Lodge Care Home. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed with warmth and kindness that instantly puts families at ease. The staff are exceptional-professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. They take time to know each resident, tailoring support to
individual needs, and go above and beyond to create a safe, comfortable, and happy environment.
The home is clean, thoughtfully designed, and offers engaging activities and nutritious meals for all dietary needs. Communication with families is excellent, giving great peace of mind.
My mum lived here for three years until she passed away, and the care was phenomenal throughout. The dedication, patience, and compassion of every staff member created a true home for Mum and comfort for me. Knowing she was in such capable, loving hands brought immense reassurance. We will always be deeply grateful.

The staff are very courteous to residents & visitors alike. Visitors are recognised & know where the person you are visiting are located i.e. lounge bedroom, conservatory. All meals are cooked on the premises, are appetising & filling. Rooms are clean and tidy, comfortable beds & furnishings. There
is a good library with a good selection of choice. The gardens & outdoor seating are plentiful & relaxing. There are activities to join in with should you wish. I look forward to the extention being completed. Drinks are available at all times & our every need catered for. I like it here & would wholeheartedly recommend it.

South Moor Lodge Care Home has been a blessing for my mother and our family. The staff are incredibly thoughtful, patient, and genuinely care about her wellbeing. With my mother's dementia, we needed a place where she would feel safe and respected, and South Moor Lodge has exceeded our expectations.
The
team is attentive to both her physical and emotional needs, always treating her with dignity. They understand the challenges of dementia and tailor their care to support her independence while providing reassurance when needed. Their kindness and compassion shine through in everything they do.
The staff go above and beyond to create a warm, homely environment. Whether offering comfort during moments of confusion or simply spending time with her, they ensure she feels valued.
Knowing my mother is in such caring hands gives our family peace of mind. We love the team at South Moor Lodge and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a compassionate, supportive care home

Whilst the building work is going on it can be difficult to get in which is especially unpleasant if it is raining. The staff are kind and friendly and mother, although she has no idea where she is or why, seems happy.

Mum is really well cared for and I am always kept informed about her care. The staff take time to speak and stop to talk to her when they are passing. That is all the staff not just those involved in her direct care but the kitchen staff and maintenance team as well. The meals are good, the home is
clean and the activities fun.
