My mum has been here for six months and is very happy. She is looked after exceptionally well, which gives us great peace of mind.

The staff are amazing-kind, caring, and empathetic. They genuinely care about the residents' wellbeing and are always welcoming and approachable.

We appreciate being able to visit whenever we want, which helps us stay connected and involved in Mum's life.

There is a great variety of activities and entertainment, especially the visiting singers and games, which Mum really enjoys. Mum has always taken pride in her appearance, so it is lovely that her nails are done regularly and that the hairdresser visits each week.

We are very grateful for the care, compassion, and support provided by the whole team. Mum is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness every day.

Friendly staff provided a warm welcome to the home. Was directed to the relevant location the manager was in the home and although not necessarily her working hours she took time to speak to both residents and visitors which was much appreciated. The home is very nicely decorated comfortable and very well kept. All staff seem very caring and friendly. My brother-in-law is there on a few weeks respite, has dementia seemed quite happy.

My 95 year old father spent the last four months of his life at St Andrew's where he was nursed and cared for with dignity, respect and compassion. Every single member of staff - care, nursing, ancillary - and management clearly had my father's health, best interests and comfort in mind at all times. Every time I visited my father he was clean, warm, safe and well-fed. The staff even stepped in to provide swift and professional medical assistance to my mother when she collapsed whilst visiting my father. Towards the end of his life the palliative care that was provided, and the support to our family, was exemplary. I cannot recommend this home highly enough, and the wonderful staff have my eternal gratitude for making an old man's last months as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.

The home was excellent. It had a lovely warm feeling as soon as you walked inside. The manageress was so wonderful, therefore it felt very homely. It was the sort of home that I would be happy there.

Cleanliness is exceptional, always smells clean, all common areas are tidy, feels like home. All the staff are amazing, and treat everyone with great care and respect. Mum's room was a great care and respect. Mum's room was a great size, we could and did personalise the room with photos and pictures, knick nacks and her own bed linen. The food was excellent, with good portions and a good variety and choice. I would highly recommend the home, it really is a home-from-home.

Although Mum was only at St Andrews for the last few weeks of her long life, the level of care, thoughtfulness, sensitivity and respect that she received was extraordinary. The St Andrews Team extended these values to my husband and me as well.

I would have no hesitation in recommending St Andrews as the perfect care home.

Whilst there are some areas for improvement, the staff and management have been very accommodating and friendly. When issues arrive they are there to sort it and to ensure my parents are settled and well called for. The friendly atmosphere and homely feel are great and different to my experiences with other homes. It is hard to satisfy everyone with meal choices however, the staff are going above and beyond to ensure my mother can have her preferred food choices. Dad is being given a good quality of life that includes inclusion in activities even though he is extremely frail. There is a definite caring attitude from most staff and some individuals are exceptional.

The staff are very friendly and appear to really care for the residents. They are always available for information, which they give freely. The rooms are clean and bright, and today in the lounge area, the staff engaged the residents with ball games and quizzes. This fostered a very happy and positive atmosphere, and everyone was enjoying themselves.

Our lovely Mum, who suffered from dementia, was a resident at St. Andrews for nearly 3 years. She sadly lost her battle with the horrible disease at the end of February.
In all of Mum's time in their care she has been supported, cared for and made to feel safe, when being in her own home no longer did, and felt very much loved.
The care and compassion shown to Mum and to us, especially during Mum's final months.
Is something we will be forever grateful for.
St. Andrews was recommended to us by the family of a former resident as a care home, that couldn’t be bettered.

Certainly from our family's point of view, that has been our experience too.

We chose St Andrews Nursing & Care Home after looking at four or five others for our mum almost three years ago, here the staff were all very friendly, approachable and accommodating, answering all of our questions and helping in any way they could.
We had also asked around friends and family and had actually been recommended St Andrews by 4 different people.
St Andrews just felt to be the ideal home from home for our mum who had developed dementia and had a few medical needs to consider, she settled here really quickly, helped by the staff all being so caring.

Mum passed away recently and the care was always good but in her last few weeks was exceptional.

Mum has needed high-level living support for the past two years following the stroke. We had chosen St Andrew's for its location, surroundings and friendly atmosphere. Never one to rush into a review (as first impressions can change). I believe now is the time to describe our experience and recommend this fabulous little place to anyone looking for the personal touch in a caring environment. First and foremost, the kindness shown by the staff is amazing. Never a cross word (in some challenging situations), always respectful, positive and upbeat, encouraging wellbeing and allowing us to personalise Mum's living space. Always patient and understanding, attentive and knowledgeable and prepared to help families new to the care system navigate the process. I live a long distance away and always feel able to contact staff and keep informed remotely. The blessing is that the transition between living care and nursing care is seamless, so when needs change the service steps in to provide the right support. Fab!

Review of St Andrew's Nursing & Care Home from M G (Cousin of Resident) published on 25 August 2023 Submitted via Website

My cousin has been in St Andrews for some years now. I am unable to visit her as often as I would like but I know that she is in a comfortable and caring care home. The environment at the home is welcoming, clean, and tidy and a place that my cousin settled into very quickly. She is and has been difficult at times, although I know she will always give the staff a smile so that they know underneath her change of personality (she was always a very gentle lady), there is a kind and sweet person who has only changed sometimes because of her dementia. The staff are always so kind and gentle with her and provide such a very settled environment. There are plenty of activities for those who would like to participate and very nice food, delicious and well presented. I would thoroughly recommend St Andrews.

Staff are always friendly and willing to help you get relative ready for going out. Staff are very patient with my mum and do their best to calm her when she needs this. Management is happy to have meetings to discuss medications and behaviours. New activities staff are organising many activities, including a local vicar who now comes to the home to give communion. Something important to my mum as a lifetime church attender. Resident and relative meetings have been happening, and I have been kept up to date with how the home is managed, staffing levels and activities.
All staff are willing to talk to me when I am concerned - I know they have listened to my concerns and treat Mum with kindness. Mum’s behaviour can be challenging, but all the staff do their best to enter her world and put her mind at rest.

I am happy and grateful for the care all staff give my mum.

From making the first phone call to meeting the staff in person, I had no doubt that St Andrew's was the right place for my parents.
The building is clean and fresh and decorated beautifully, and the food has that home-cooked taste and variety of dishes.

Sadly Mum passed away not long after moving in, but the staff have been amazing in providing support to Dad and me. To walk into the home and be greeted by smiles and hugs is amazing.

Mum visited to take a look around the home on Monday and loved one of the rooms available so much that she moved in on Wednesday for respite for two weeks. Mum liked it so much she is now staying permanently.
It is hard for someone to adapt overnight to being in a home, but all the staff have supported Mum and the family to help settle her in, which will take a few weeks, but I am confident things will settle down, and Mum will be very happy here.
There is a choice of different food daily, and a nice pudding to follow for dinner, which is served at lunchtime, and sandwiches and cake or similar at tea time. Residents can ask for food at any time if they so wish.

We, as a family, are very happy with what we have experienced at St Andrew's in the short time Mum has lived there - nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I would highly recommend this home.

Review of St Andrew's Nursing & Care Home from Karine T (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 6 July 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother-in-law was a resident for over three years at St Andrew's. She was so well looked after and warmly cared for. The staff, from management to the tea lady, including the night staff, were always full of laughter and love. When it came to the end of her life, I really felt that my mother-in-law had spent her last few years in happiness (relative to old age and dementia). The staff brought out all the joy she had in her, and they joked together.

We were particularly touched by the sensitivity of all involved when we sat by her bedside in her last moments. They turned a trying time in our lives into one of elevation that can be found at such unique moments. Their patience and continued compassion and empathy at all times was an elevating experience which we will always remember. We can never thank them enough and only hope they will be as lucky as we were in their time of grief.
