Visited my elderly aunt who transferred from another home a few months ago. She seems so much happier and content with her surroundings. We could not believe that she was finally eating again. Would highly recommend the home.

I moved my mother from another care home, as was worried about her care. Left on her own a lot, and was losing weight.
Since moving to this care home Mum has gained weight, and got a lot more involved with things going on at the home. She enjoys her meals now, and is always offered a choice of food.
She is drinking so much better too. So looks more alert. Staff are so lovely here with all the residents, and take an interest in both my mum and myself when I visit. I am now getting regular updates face to face, and also on the phone when needed.
The home is wonderful, Mum is happy, it's been the best decision I made to move her here. The home and manager are first-class. Happy my mum will spend her last few years being so well cared for.
Reply from Mary McGowan, Director at Nottingham Care VillageThank you for your lovely review of Nottingham Care Village, I will pass on your kind words to the staffing team. I am so pleased that your mum has settled into the care home and that he is enjoying the lovely meals and the activities.

My brother-in-law moved to the home one week ago and the move was smooth as his old care home was closing down. The management were excellent in helping with his funding and smooth transition. The home is very clean, warm and tidy, smells lovely and all the staff are very friendly. My brother-in-law
tells us that the food is excellent and also the hairdresser, where today he had a trim, was very good. The home have very high standards. Keep up the great work.

My brother has settled into the home perfectly. The staff are very attentive. The home is spotless. The manager is lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend the chefs are amazing - my brother loves all the homemade cooked food. The grounds are lovely for a walk around too.

Overall the care home was excellent. Staff seemed very friendly, as did management. Residential rooms are good, with all necessary facilities. Rest rooms clean and tidy. Curtains in rest room could maybe be updated! Particularly like the idea of memory boxes on room entrances with photo recognition
by doorway.

I made a visit to my sister's first few weeks at Nottingham Care Village and immediately saw an improvement in her health and wellbeing from when I last saw her at her previous home in September. I saw her walking with her walking aid individually, amazing, and her positive and clear vision of her future
improved, as well as her outlook to being independent again. I mentioned all of this and my feeling that well and professional, dedicated care has helped her to feel good once more about her - highly recommended.

Mum is very happy at Nottm Care Village; her room has rural views, and she loves watching the chickens. The staff are wonderful, so caring and respectful, always with a smile and a few words. The food is fresh, varied and delicious. She enjoys the company in the lounge, the entertainment and activities.
Our family is grateful for the care she receives; it more than meets her needs physically and socially. It truly has a feeling of home when more care is needed.

After a lengthy stay in the hospital, my mum eventually moved into Nottingham Care Village. The care she received was first class, a lovely room and looked after by a great team. The management, the carers, the cooks, the cleaners and the maintenance staff are all fantastic. Set in a lovely location,
this is a great place to have loved ones looked after.

My Grandad stayed in Nottingham Care Village to allow my mum and dad to have a holiday, as they care for him at home. My Grandad enjoyed his stay at the home, especially the food with fresh vegetables and homemade puddings every day. My Grandad said all the staff were lovely and treated him with respect
at all times. I was sad I could not visit him during his stay because of the pandemic but kept in touch via zoom and telephone which was important for me, he is not very tech-savvy, so the lovely staff took time out of their day to assistant with setting up the calls. The management team were lovely, before he arrived they took details of his preferences from things like how he had his tea, his routine throughout the day and even to what side of the bed he got out of whilst he was at home, this was very reassuring for my parents who had initial worries about sending him for respite, this alone reassured them he would be well looked after. My Grandad would love to stay with them again.

My grandmother moved to Nottingham Care Village in December 2019 at the age of 101.
I have always been reassured that the care home is extremely well run and that my grandmother's best interests are at the forefront of the carer's actions. The home is immaculate and the services they offer are first
rate.
This had been particularly evident during the current Coronavirus pandemic. They went into lockdown early and did their very best to obtain the relevant PPE and worked extremely hard to get the tests the government promised. I was able to speak to my grandmother whenever I wanted to and I received updates on her health when appropriate. Now I can finally visit my grandmother all the requirements laid down by the government are being adhered to.
I am very pleased I chose Nottingham Care Village for my grandmother's care.

My mother needed emergency respite care following a fall, the manager and the team were amazing from the first phone call until we said goodbye. They showed kindness and understanding and couldn't have been more helpful in getting Mum settled in. They encouraged Dad to come and have his meals so that
they could be together which I thought showed the depth of understanding of people's needs in these situations. Thank you all again.

My friend recently spent a week here to recover from a minor operation. She thoroughly enjoyed every minute of her stay. She was very pleased with the size and cleanliness of her room. She felt safe in her room knowing there were safety cords, buzzers and a pressure mat by the bed. All the staff were
kind and friendly making her feel very welcome and well looked after. She enjoyed all her meals. The home is surrounded by gardens and paths to stroll on when the weather is fine with an abundance of garden furniture to sit on in the summer. The home is bright and the three lounges are very tastefully decorated. Friends and I were made very welcome when we visited. Being offered cake and a cup of tea was an added bonus. I personally was very satisfied with the care and attention she received and would recommend the home to friends. My friend was pleased to have experienced a week here and said she wouldn't hesitate in going back if she felt the need for another week's respite or longer care.

After a cataract operation, my 94-year-old Auntie spent a week of respite care at the Nottingham Care Village. She loved it! She returned to her home today with very mixed feelings, continually chatting about the wonderful holiday that she has had. She loved the food, the country outlook, the exercise
class in a morning, the care, the lovely kind and friendly staff but who also afforded her respect, dignity and understanding. She enjoyed the walks outside, the other residents who chatted and the welcoming feeling her own visitors were greeted with. What more could we ask for? Thank you to all concerned for making a week being cared for, feel like a holiday!

I am very satisfied with the care and support my Aunt receives from the staff at Nottingham Care Village. The food is excellent. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the patients. The rooms are very well appointed and kept very clean. The laundry service is very good. My Aunt is
very deaf and has very limited sight owing to macular degeneration so cannot partake in many activities but the staff try to keep her entertained. As she always receives visitors in her room because of her hearing problems, I have not seen all the facilities.

I suffer from anxiety and depression and was a resident for one week only to give my wife some respite.

All the other residents were here because of age or/and infirmity and so I was unusual in that respect.

In my view, this establishment is above average and I would certainly recommend it and

the beds are very comfortable!

It is pleasant to be at Nottingham Care Village. The public rooms are clean well decorated and homely. The food is good and the staff are very approachable.
Two concerns:
Food is offered in too close intervals, Breakfast at 9:30 will be followed by lunch at 12 - 12:30 then dinner at 5 pm.
There are
crafts and games on a table in the lounge they are never touched. The staff do a good caring job, but they don't engage with residents enough. Perhaps they could play cards/do a jigsaw/ organise bingo? Something to stimulate them.
Reply from Mary McGowan, Director at Nottingham Care VillageI can confirm that all meals at Nottingham Care Village are offered to suit individuals personal preferences. Breakfast is available from 0700 a.m. onwards and lunch is available from 1215 p.m. onwards. We recognise that all our residents have personal preferences and therefore we give them the choice of time to have breakfast, lunch etc. and also where they wish to have their meals. For our residents who wish to have dinner in the evening, we are happy to accommodate this. Our Person Centred Care package fully supports the individual preferences of all our residents. I can also confirm that our staff do engage in board games with our residents. We have an Activities Co-ordinator who will offer a range of activities for our residents. We will endeavour to meet the personal preferences of our residents with regard to activities as much as possible. Additionally, we engage the services of an outside company to provide activity courses for our residents.

My 95-year-old mother is happy in this care home, she has always been very independent with help from the family and warden aided accommodation until May last year when she was admitted to hospital. As a family, we looked around several care homes and this home appeared to tick all boxes. My mother
initially came for one day to see if she liked it and then had a trial week. She has not looked back. She chose her own room which is light and airy. She mixes well with many of the other residents and enjoys the food and security of someone on hand to look after her especially on the days she is not 100%.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.822)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.822) out of 10 for Nottingham Care Village is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.822 for Nottingham Care Village is calculated as follows: ( (243 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 270 Ratings = 4.822
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nottingham Care Village is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
