A very well organised home. Staff are caring and helpful in every way. All aspects of this home are most satisfactory.
I attended the Thursday morning singalong with my mother and really enjoyed it and my mother never stopped laughing and clapping. Singing old songs brings memories to them about when they were younger.
Mum is going through a difficult stage of Dementia where she wanders a lot at night, can argue and resist being washed and dressed and eats poorly. She has been treated with dignity at all times. She is always dressed and very clean, they have gone the extra mile in trying to tempt her to eat and drink. We are sorry that she has to leave this home as she has deteriorated beyond their ability to care now.
My brother has been a resident for 2 years because he has Downs Syndrome his needs are different to some of the other residents. He had always been used to going to a day centre and being involved in activities. Westwood day time activities are extremely good and happen most days. The activity coordinators are excellent. The care offered to my brother is excellent and everyone makes him feel included. All the staff work hard and offer a great service.
Lovely to see residents taking part in the activity provided, which was movement to music. The instructor involved all the residents. Touching to see and hear the residents doing this activity.
The staff in the home on our visit were absolutely fantastic, providing engaging entertainment and trying to include all residents. The Activities Coordinator was especially good throughout the visit - an asset! All residents were known by their names, even those that had not been there long. All residents were clean and comfortable and staff ensured their safety at all times.

Meet the Team (6)

Welcome to Westwood. My name is Claire, and I am the Home Manager. I joined Runwood Homes in 2012 as a Care Assistant to embark on a new challenge; to make a difference to the lives of others. Now, as the Manager of Westwood, I am still so passionate about supporting our older generation, listening to their life histories and achievements, and simply being there to make them smile. I feel extremely privileged to be a part of people’s lives. At Westwood, we strive for our residents to live later life with enjoyment, happiness and support. We welcome you to visit us or contact us to find out more.

I joined the team here at Westwood in 2012 as a care assistant. I instantly became a fond member of the team and have worked hard to progress in my career, most recently achieving a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Leadership. I was promoted from care assistant to care team leader, then to Deputy Manager almost three years ago. I continue to thrive at Westwood; residents, family members, professionals, and staff all feel comfortable communicating and speak very highly of me.

I joined the team 5 years ago and have worked in the health and social care sector for many years. I have a wealth of knowledge in maintenance, health and safety, and compliance. I feel I am a valued member of the team and am always happy to help.

Nichola joined Westwood in 2018 as a domestic assistant; she instantly became a strong member of the team. Within 10 months she was promoted to Head Housekeeper and now supports a team of domestic assistants, ensuring our home remains clean, well-presented, and homely. Nichola is also the Infection Prevention Control Champion here at Westwood and takes great pride in our environment.

I joined the team here at Westwood in 2015 as a night care assistant; I progressed to night care team leader before choosing to join the front-of-house team as the home's Receptionist. I welcome all with a smile and am always happy to help.

I have been working at Westwood as the Homes Administrator for 23 years. My knowledge and expertise are of great value to the home; I feel a vital part of our team and a welcoming face at the front of the house. I am very approachable and have built many strong friendships here at Westwood over the years with residents, family members, and staff.
