I felt very happy as soon as I came through the door. Everyone had been pleasant and I have not wanted for anything. I felt as though I was on holiday. There was always someone asking me if I needed anything & nothing was too much trouble

My Mother was in for Respite care while adaptions done to her home.
I found the home to be safe, very atmospheric, everyone always had a smile on their face. My mother was taken care of fully the staff went out of their way to make her stay as homely as possible.
The food was always wholesome & plenty
of it. The home is very clean & very well maintained. The management were extremely helpful, polite & above all reassuring. The management & staff were a pleasure to deal with. I couldn't recommend Peacemills any higher 10/10

My family and I had complete confidence with management and all staff. We were treated like one of the family. We were put at ease throughout the eleven weeks of my husband's last days. All staff were great, thank you for all the care given.

Went to Peacemills for respite care. While there only a short time I was taken downstairs for a cup of tea. In that short space of time, my room was entered by staff and all my personal belongings searched and my handbag had some old medication taken. Some was prescribed meds others just laxatives.
By no means did I give or was asked for permission for this to be done. I had left money and personal items in a room I thought was locked. Despicable behaviour, items were not returned on request. Atrocious.

We disagree strongly with the inferences contained in this review. All the actions taken by our staff were carried out solely in the interests of safeguarding this resident herself and also other residents within the home, who could have been put at risk. We are sorry if this resident feels her personal privacy was not fully respected however, safeguarding everyone in the home is our number one priority and something we will always undertake where we think it is necessary, following risk assessment, and that is what we did in this case.

My mother settled in well, in no small part, due to the genuine warmth and care shown to her by all staff and management. We and family were treated likewise. Mum consistently praises all aspects of Peacemills and is very content here, which gives family and friends great comfort. Thanks to all for
what you achieve.

Not our only experience with a care home situation (four others in the last five years).
Peacemills care Home is far better than the others in every respect. Homely atmosphere, pleasant larger than average room, bright colourful corridors. Variety of lounge areas and pleasant garden views, most importantly
caring and friendly staff. We can be rest assured that Mother is being well cared for and safe.

My mum has been a resident for over a year now. In that time, the staff have been friendly, kind and caring. Their attitude is excellent. Mom's room is clean and tidy and she has a lot of her personal things around her. There is also a good selection of food available.

This is really a home in the best sense of the word; my mother has been living there for almost two years and the staff treat her as part of their family, caring for her every physical and emotional need. Over and above this, my father had been visiting every day and had been included in the family
and any activities; he recently passed away and almost half of the staff visited him in hospital and are clearly very upset by his absence at the home. Every single member of staff is welcoming and caring - my father was constantly praising the "girls" and their care of mum relieved him of the worry of her himself. Since dad's death, the staff have shown great personal compassion and are really helping mum deal with her loss. One of dad's dying wishes was to arrange a special lunch for all the staff - and he specified everyone must be included - to thank them for what they are continuing to do for mum. Says it all.

Many thanks for your kind comments, your father will be sadly missed by ALL of our staff, he had a great sense of humour and loved joining in, your mum will still be cared for in the same compassionate way and will be supported through her sad loss of her husband.

My mother in law has been in the home for a year and nine months. The staff could not be more caring, friendly and helpful. They look after her extremely well and are very welcoming to visitors. My father in law particularly enjoyed visiting and the staff were great with him also.

My uncle, with dementia, has settled into Peacemills so well. He is calm and happy and I can tell he feels at home. He interacts well with staff and other residents which is lovely to see. He enjoys his food and I am impressed with the home cooked food at the home - he usually has seconds! I know all
his needs are being met at Peacemills.

An easy to get to care home on bus route. As care home fees go it's one of the cheaper ones. The staff and management are nice. My dad has been here for 2 years now and it suits us for his needs.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.524)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.524) out of 10 for Peacemills Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.514 for Peacemills Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.514

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.01 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Peacemills Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.51

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
