Amazing staff who always go above and beyond to provide a happy, caring home for the residents. The activities they provide are interesting and varied, and the food is excellent. The home is always clean and tidy, and the furnishings are comfortable and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend
Red Roofs when looking for excellent care in Newark.

The care given to the residents of Red Roofs is second to none. This doesn't seem like a care home but more like a large family. I didn't realise so many activities could take place with everyone including visitors encouraged to take part. The residents actually seem to enjoy themselves with so much
to do on a daily basis. It's really good to see that residents are not sat in front of a TV all day which would be the easy option. Red Roofs certainly do not choose the easy option.

My sister has been a resident for over year now, and once she settled into the routine would not be anywhere else. The care is exellent as is the whole residency as indicated with my response below to the services and staff. I know as a result of my visits to see her, how happy she is with the establishments
and especially the kitchen service.

My mother has bee a resident at RR since November 23 and settled in very well into the care given by all outstanding staff and management, on walking into RR, there is always a friendly, polite, happy member of staff to greet you. The accommodation is impressive both in public areas, and my mothers
room, filled with her photos + memories, and is extremely clean, and decorated throughout. There are always lots of activities for mum to get involved with, plus first class food provided daily.

Lovely care home, you are made to feel welcome every time you visit. The staff, housekeepers, kitchen staff all of them are really lovely. My mum has really been looked after from day one, never wanting for anything it's like home from home, nothing to much trouble, there's always plenty to do if you
want to, trips out, plenty of entertainment, the care is second to none. The staff go above and beyond to help answer any questions anytime, always somebody to help if you need them, food really good. Plenty of tea and treats, lovely.

Mum has been a permanent resident at Red Roofs now for nine months. I can confirm that I still feel as strongly about this care home as I did originally. The management, care staff, through to the kitchen, housekeeping, laundry and maintenance are exceptional! It's like a well oiled machine that ticks
over meticulously. Cleanliness is 100%, the food superb and the activities are varied and well supported. More importantly though the personal, emotional and individual care each & every resident receives is astonishing. My mum (for religious reasons) doesn't participate in some celebrations, yet, the staff are respectfully give her dignity and go above & beyond to give her options so Mum never feels left out or marginalised. She is shown nothing but respect. The senior activity organiser is always looking for things mum can do if things conflict with her beliefs. Even though old age brings about difficulties & frustration, the staff here (especially the management) make every day a positive one! I have complete peace of mind that mum's in the best of hands. Well done Red Roofs! Keep up the good work!

I can't pinpoint dates, but we are more than satisfied with mum's care (consistency) at Red Roofs. Whenever we visit or take mum out, especially, extra care has been put into make mum look nice. There is often something happening, games, singing etc. All the carers seem to go above and beyond to make
it home.

Mum and Dad were looked after so well over the last two or three years. They have both passed on now and are together again at last.
Such care and compassion were shown to them.
All of their family took heart and were so relieved to know they were safe and their needs were met around the clock.
Their rooms were always kept spotlessly clean, all credit to the ancillary staff as well as their excellent carers.
As my Sister says, they were privileged to stay in their 'home' with no unnecessary visits to hospital until they died in their surroundings and with the people who knew them both so well.
We would wholeheartedly recommend Red Roofs to anyone looking for a special place for their loved ones.
From the bottom of our hearts to all the staff. Thank you.

The time has come for me to place a review after mum passed away peacefully following nearly 3 years of her home being Red Roofs.
She and Dad took up residence just before their 70th wedding anniversary. This was duly celebrated, and they settled down quickly, right from the very beginning with care
and respect, and friendliness.
When Dad died we were so very pleased he was cared for in his 'home', with no unnecessary transfer to hospital, and then the same again with Mum. The words love, care, and respect, over and over again. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and l always used to think it was a pleasure to step into such a friendly atmosphere, always made welcome, always given time.
My only regret is that you didn't know Mum when she could hold a conversation, knit a baby garment for you, take an interest in your children, and laugh and smile with you.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

My mother lived at Red Roofs from June to September 2024. Although her time was short there my family was so impressed with the calm and pristine environment. Mum was supported by a very dedicated and caring team of staff who worked well together to provide a warm and caring place for the residents.
Three members of staff were particularly kind to my mum and helped her to settle into her new home. Mum's room was always kept immaculately clean and the family was reassured that she was in safe hands under the stewardship of the manager and her deputy.
The staff go above and beyond to organise interesting activities for residents and it was pleasing to see Mum participating in the Home's summer fete, a pizza-making class, and a tribute singer who sang songs from her favourite famous singers.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who helped to make the last few months of Mum's life more bearable.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.965)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.965) out of 10 for Red Roofs Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for Red Roofs Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (276 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 286 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Red Roofs Residential Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have worked at Red Roofs Residential Care home since 1988; first as a cook, then a care assistant and then as a senior carer before qualifying as registered manager in 2004. I was the deputy manager for 18 years prior to becoming registered manager in 2016 and I am in my 33rd year of service.

I am passionate about my role at Red Roofs and thrilled to be part of the Red Homes Healthcare team. Since 2016, Red Roofs has enjoyed the status as a 5-star care home under the Notts County Council ratings model. This is an achievement we are very proud of and keen to maintain.

I work with a wonderful team at Red Roofs and many staff have worked alongside me at Red Roofs for several years. We all work very closely together to ensure that the Red Roofs community continues to represent caring and compassionate care within the beautiful care setting here in Newark.
