All staff are kind and caring, nothing seems too much trouble when looking after my dad. There is always genuine warmth and a smile - which really lights his day. Food and accommodation are very good and dad could really ask for nothing more. I have an innate confidence that he is in a safe, secure, and caring environment.

Dad moved to Red Roofs at the beginning of September 2021. He has settled extremely well and feels safe and has company after many months of being alone for long periods of time. His brighter demeanour, better health and much-improved sense of wellbeing are due entirely to the care, friendliness and time given to him by the carers at Red Roofs. Additionally, he is eating and enjoying his meals. I would have no hesitation in recommending Red Roofs to anyone looking for a residential care home.

My dad resided at Redroofs for 2 and a half years. It wasn’t easy for my mum and myself when he had to go into care but the manager and all her staff made the transition easier than we thought. Before Covid, it was an open house for friends and family and we felt very welcome. It was like an extended family everything was done so my dad was happy and also mum and I. They made it possible for Mum and Dad to have a meal together on their own. All our family and friends including Dad's very lively great-granddaughter enjoyed their visits . We had the very best of him without the hard work. Covid made things difficult but all the staff did their best for us to have contact through this difficult time even making it possible to let Mum and Dad celebrate their wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, Mum passed away shortly afterwards and Dad was given the best care until his passing in August this year. I have no hesitation in recommending Redroofs.

Due to Covid-19 shut down at the care home this year, it has been impossible to visit my mother in her room and apart from a number of window visits earlier in the year. However, the staff generally have been extremely tolerant and understanding of the care provided to my mother. Their support to my totally blind mother whilst sometimes not always appreciated by her has been a comfort to me and my family, particularly given the tremendous pressures placed upon them due to Covid-19. They are to be congratulated for their dedication and professionalism.

I have nothing but praise for the staff at Red Roofs. They are so caring, helpful and always on hand for both the residents and their family. Nothing is too much for them to deal with. They are always smiling and cheerful and treat the residents with love and respect. This applies to everyone that works at Red Roofs.

Well managed care home, excellent caring staff. Beautiful clean rooms, happy home environment. Family members are always made welcome, well looked after, made to feel inclusive of the care given. When searching for care homes we looked at 13. Red Roofs was by far the best. Thanks to all.

Patricia SmithJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 1988

I have worked at Red Roofs Residential Care home since 1988; first as a cook, then a care assistant and then as a senior carer before qualifying as registered manager in 2004. I was the deputy manager for 18 years prior to becoming registered manager in 2016 and I am in my 33rd year of service.

I am passionate about my role at Red Roofs and thrilled to be part of the Red Homes Healthcare team. Since 2016, Red Roofs has enjoyed the status as a 5-star care home under the Notts County Council ratings model. This is an achievement we are very proud of and keen to maintain.

I work with a wonderful team at Red Roofs and many staff have worked alongside me at Red Roofs for several years. We all work very closely together to ensure that the Red Roofs community continues to represent caring and compassionate care within the beautiful care setting here in Newark.

Danielle MewJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2021

I began my career at Newark Hospital back in 2002 as a Healthcare Assistant and working across many wards. After a short but enjoyable period at the hospital, I decided I wanted to work within care and then up came a role at Red Rose Care Community in 2004. I was there for 13 years.

I have over 20 years of experience in the care sector and feel I can really add to the team. I have adored all of my roles including being a care assistant, senior care assistant and a care quality manager. I have been given a fantastic opportunity to be the new cover deputy manager for Red Roofs during Joanne’s maternity leave.

I am very passionate about my work and who I look after. I have always believed in delivering high quality person-centred care and making our residents lives more meaningful.
