The Old Vicarage is a family run care home which offers many aspects of individual care to support the independence of its residents in later life.

The atmosphere and décor within the home is reflective of a boutique hotel environment.

In addition, a small number of beautiful bungalows within the grounds are available for rent. These allow elderly residents to experience a more independent lifestyle, whilst being able to take advantage of the support and services provided from within the care home.

The Old Vicarage is expertly managed. The home provides a high level of comfort with good quality furnishings and decor. The meals are served in two lovely rooms and provide a balanced and good quality diet. Mum can have items of her own to make her room personalised. Her room has an ensuite toilet
and basin and is very modern and bright. Mum is very happy. There are, when possible, lots of activities and external visits too. Covid has altered this, of course. The staff are all lovely and provide a family-like atmosphere.

Our experience has been very positive. The home has continued to give excellent care under very difficult covid restrictions and circumstances.

On first arrival I noticed how clean, friendly and warm the building was.
The bedrooms, lounge, dining room etc so clean and well furnished.
The staff are wonderful and the residents happy and content, to me that means everything.

I have always found the staff at the The Old Vicarage very friendly and helpful and would have no problem recommending the home. At the time of writing, a number of staff are off sick, resulting in extra workload for their colleagues. Although obviously under pressure, they still demonstrate the same
level of care and commitment as always, with their usual cheery smiles, resulting in a very calm and relaxed atmosphere.

The care my aunt received from the staff and management at The Old Vicarage was at times exceptional. Attention to individual and personalized care was reviewed on daily bases. I found the staff very responsive to requests made by the family. There was good communication between carers and family members.

The home is bright, clean and well maintained without even a hint of any unpleasant odours associated with care homes for the elderly. All staff address my mother personally and ensure that her personal, medical and social needs care are met. At particular times of the year eg Halloween and Christmas,
the home has been pleasantly decorated; there are visitors to the home to provide beauty and creative activities. My mother has a bungalow on the grounds but goes to the home for her meals and social care. Staff ensure her safety at all times. The management is sensitive to the need to balance staff numbers to demand services they provide whilst ensuring the payments for care are affordable even though this can sometimes stretch staff levels, it doesn't detract from the care provided.

My Grandmother has been in the Home for just over 2 years. It has enhanced her life as she is now in a place where she is cared for constantly by friendly and dedicated staff. She has made new friends and the loneliness that was setting in when she was in her own home is a long distance memory. It is
a beautiful home which is decorated and furnished to a very high standard and extremely clean. I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

The Old Vicarage is more like home with superb standards of decor and fitments.
The staff are always friendly and helpful and the team leader is central to the delivery of excellent service. The home is undergoing some extension work to the building and is scheduled for completion by May 17. Yet already
you can see The Old Vicarage vision through the high standard of design and fittings, once complete this will truly further enhance what is already a high standard care home. I know my mother is in safe hands and a caring environment.

The care home my mum is in is a lovely friendly environment. The staff are always polite and also ready to help if you have any concerns.
My mum is very happy there, she does arts and crafts, armchair exercises and a singing group.
I am more than happy with how my mum is being looked after.

The Old vicarage offers a warm and welcoming environment to visitors and a true 'home' for residents. The quality of care provided is outstanding and the standard of the home is without comparison the best in Bolton. The Old Vicarage provide my independent mother with exactly the right level of care and support. She likes to think she is independent but wants and needs looking after while still maintaining an element of solitude. Her care meets her needs perfectly. The staff are caring and professional and my difficult
to please mum loves them. They make her feel like an independent individual while quietly attending to all her needs.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.750)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.750) out of 10 for The Old Vicarage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.850 for The Old Vicarage is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.85
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Vicarage is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
