I cannot be more pleased with the service Royley House provide for my father. They are amazing. They spend time getting to know him and care to all of his needs and requirements. He has only been there for four months, but what a difference they have made.
Brilliant.

My mum became a resident here after her stroke which she really struggled with as she was in her previous home for 30years and highly independent, so it was a big transition for her. But the staff were friendly and welcoming and looked after her every need with care and compassion and always made her
laugh and she made new friends. Then my dad moved in also so they could be together and he would be safe and looked after with his dementia .
It became a much better home under the new management , There was new staff to manage the activities , which has vastly improved and take residents for days out , which my dad really enjoys . Food has improved . Social media was added to keep famillies updated for when they are unable to visit. On the whole a great home for the residents. The staff are profesional , friendly , caring , compassionate , and there is not a high turn over of staff as with most other care homes. I highly reccommend Royley House

Royley House is an example of what high standards need to be met whenlooking after loved ones who are vulnerable.
From the manager to the staff all are very focused on the residents wellbeing.
My mother has been looked after from day one and they let me know immediately if there are any problems or
if she is doing something interesting which really makes me not worry.
Well done and keep up the brilliant work.

Our mum lives in Royley House and has done for 2 1/2 years. We are very happy with the care she receives. Resident are given a choice for meals which is good that they czn make their own choices. The staff are very caring and look like they enjoy working at Royley. The activities they get the residents
involved in are second to none. The activities co-ordinator encourages the residents to get involved if they want to.
Residents files are always kept up to date with daily care notes. We are encouraged to speak to the manager if we have concerns. Each month we get a call when mum is person of the day with an update on mum and we can speak about mums care.
Overall we a very satisfied that mum is in safe hands at Royley.

Staff are brilliant so kind and helpful my mother in law has been there now almost 12 months and what an improvement. She has settled in so well with the help from the staff. She really enjoys the food always plenty of choice and she looks so well
now. James who does the activities does a fantastic job and my mother in law enjoys the trip out. Her room is a good size and has been decorated to a high standard and is kept clean and tidy. Thanks for doing a great job everyone

I have recently helped friend's move their mother in to Royley House. Everything from the first lookaround to moving in was done professionally. All the staff are caring and amazing which make residents feel wanted.
Royley House has given me faith that there are nice places for our loved ones to
stay.
The activities are fantastic and there is something for everyone. Royley House is a happy homley place which can be felt the minute the door is opened. Even as a visitor we were made to feel welcomed.

I would highly recommend this home. Our mum has been here since October 2023. She is well looked after by all staff which makes her and our family very happy. All staff are always happy to help in any way they can and nothing is too much trouble. This is a very well run home and the manager is always
looking for ways to improve. The activities are varied to allow all residents to join in including outings where possible. We can't recommend it enough.

Royley House provided my dad with compassionate, dignified care during the later stages of his dementia, where he lived for just over three years. During that time, the staff came to know him very well as an individual, understood his needs, and consistently did their very best for him with patience,
kindness and respect. It was clear he was genuinely cared for, not just looked after.
Since the change in leadership, the quality of care at Royley House has improved significantly and is now, in my opinion, outstanding. I am truly grateful to the whole team for the care, kindness and support they showed both my dad and our family. The home feels well-led, professional and warm, and this gave us great reassurance during a very difficult time. I would highly recommend Royley House to anyone seeking a caring, supportive and well-managed environment for their loved one.

My mum moved into Royley House in February 2025 and the care she received brought about an immediate improvement in her wellbeing. She has since settled in and the staff continue to monitor and look after her daily care needs. My mum's room is lovely and provides space for more personal visits when
not sat in either the lounge or conservatory. The staff arrange regular activities for the residents to participate in, often also joining in. The many Facebook updates provide a great comfort on the days we are unable to visit, showing the residents enjoying their activities. We are very pleased with our decision in placing mum in Royley House and grateful for the care and companionship she receives. Thanks to all the staff, in every role, who ensure my mum continues to receive the best care, also providing regular updates on her welfare.

Mum has been a resident at Royley House for the last 7 years. The care she receives is excellent. All her needs are managed in a dignified and caring way. I don't live locally so I know that she is being looked after to a high standard, and her being at Royley House puts my mind at ease. Each time we
visit we are always greeted with a smile, a hello, a brew and biscuits. Treating family members with this level of kindness only reinforces in my mind that mum is in the right place. Her room is always clean and spotless. I'm always kept informed of mum's wellbeing whether it be appointments, resident of the day or if there's an issue. All the staff are amazing and we have got to know quite a lot of them over the years. Some even make a point of coming to chat to us when we are visiting now. There is such a wide and varied range of activities to keep the residents occupied, and there is a minibus to take the residents on outings. I have nothing but praise for the Manager and her team and can't thank her enough.

Mum has been in this home since early 2024, not the easiest of patient to deal with sadly but the staff and management have dealt with all situations with professionalism and sensitivity. for Mum, they care and that means the world to our family. Forever thanks for everything you continue to do for Mum.

My mum moved into Royley house in June 2025 and is the happiness we have seen her in a long time. When we first visited Royley House it stood out from all the other nursing homes we went to immediately. The atmosphere was very relaxing and loving, we noticed every member of staff was interacting with
residents in such a king and caring manner. The efforts they make to get everyone involved in daily activities and outings is truly captivating. I look forward to seeing the pictures every day of my mum having fun and making new friends, truly heart-warming knowing we made the right decision when moving her out of her own home to a place that has changed her life in such a positive way. I want to say thank you for the wonderful, professional care your staff is giving to my mum, to see her smile again and look forward to each day is a credit to Royley House. If I could give Royley House a 10-star rating, I would. Thank you

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.876)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.876) out of 10 for Royley House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 48 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.876 for Royley House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (506 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 573 Ratings = 4.876
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Royley House Care Home is based on 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 48 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I started my career in 1994 after my children started school. I worked within the leisure services as a Receptionist and Swimming Teacher. I progressed in 2000 to an Administration Role in Bolton, my duties included Payroll, invoicing, and customer communications. In 2002, I was promoted to Northwest Admin support, which covered Manchester and Bolton.

Within this role, I helped in phasing in new leisure Centres and Inclusive training for the admin teams on-site. In 2013, I was promoted to Regional Admin Support covering seven regions. In 2024, I was looking for a more local position close to home and was offered the administrative position at Royley House. The staff here are first class and always willing to help and support. The care for the residents is immaculate, and I am proud to work under an outstanding Management Team.

James Conway

Job Title: Activity Co-ordinator

My name is James and I have been a qualified Hairdresser for 15 years prior to taking over the Activity Coordinator role here at Royley House. This position suits me we as it fits in with home life, as I have a younger daughter. At home, we have lots of extended family from the animal kingdom. I am very passionate about the positive impact animals have and often bring some of them in for a cuddle with residents. Animal therapy is a passion I have, so I also plan trips out around this, too. Coming to work feels like being part of a big family, partially down to the team I work with but mostly because of the residents. I thrive knowing the activities I plan and the adventures we partake in are helping to enrich the day-to-day lives of residents.
