Both my parents have been residents for the past 8 months. It was a huge and difficult decision to move them out of their own home, and we looked at numerous care homes before settling on Royley House. We have certainly made the right choice. The staff couldn't do enough to support us, and did everything
they could to help them settle in, including spending a lot of time not just understanding their care needs but getting to know them on a personal level. The quality of care is exceptional, the staff really care and are always ready to go the extra mile. Nothing is too much trouble.

Communication is excellent, there is regular contact and staff act promptly on any feedback. My parents benefit hugely from the varied trips and visits that are on offer, and are also gently persuaded to take part in the extensive activities programme, which they love. I can't recommend Royley House highly enough. It offers a safe, caring environment were staff treat everyone with love, dignity and respect.

My mum became a resident in June this year and the first couple of weeks were very rough and she found it difficult to settle but the staff and management were amazing. Now 5 weeks in and she is the happiest I've seen her for years. Not sat in her flat lonely and not eating properly. She is looked after
to a very high standard with great food and caring staff. The home is kept lovely and clean and all my mums needs are met to a fantastic standard. The coordinator who takes the residence out and about and also arrange entertainment daily is amazing. I've not seen my mum smile so much and is enjoying every day. I can't thank the staff and management enough for taking our worries away and making our mum feel safe happy and enjoying life again Thank you

Our mother has been a resident at Royley House in Royton for the last 18 months.
The whole time she was there she was treated with love, respect and dignity. The care she received from all staff was of the highest quality. As a family we could not have asked for more.
Sadly mum passed away last week
at Royley House. During her last weeks mum was given the best care, she was very comfortable and treated with love.
We do not have the words to thank ALL the staff for not only caring for mum but loving her too.
Thank you for being there for us too, giving us space, support and comfort.
From management to cleaners, what a team!
Thank you.

Good to see so many activities going on and involving everyone. A beautiful place and surroundings, very friendly mum was happy there and cared for very well.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am for Royley House. This place is a home from home. Since my Grandma has been here, she has been nothing but happy and comfortable. The staff are all so lovely and they make you feel so welcome. I have never wanted anything more, and my grandma was so happy here. The
activity they organise and the environment they have created is lovely. Thank you to all the staff! Couldn't recommend another care home.

My mother in law has been a happy resident at Royley House for 3 years now. The manager is amazing and knows my family and I very well. She is constantly looking for feedback and ways of improving. (I don't think you can!). Such wonderful and caring staff. My M-I-L used to join in the activities at
one time. Now there seems to be something everyday. Unfortunately, since January this year, she is now on end of life care and has to remain in bed. The amount of care she requires and receives is more of a one to one type as she needs feeding, keeping hydrated, regular turning and intimacy care. This is carried out with great care and compassion.
Royley House is not a residential care home, it's just home. We as an entire family are treated well, offered drinks and genuinely feel that it is her home. We won't ever switch to a nursing facility as we want our relative to pass away at home. Royley House IS HER HOME.
Thank you team for your care, love and affection. God bless x

My mum has been a resident at RH Care Home since February 2023, and I have nothing but praise for the staff and management of this exceptional home. The remarkably low staff turnover means that residents and carers build strong, familiar relationships, creating a true sense of community. Mum has been
very happy at RH and we deeply appreciate the dedicated care she receives in what truly feels like a home-from-home.

Beyond the excellent care, the activities and trips are impressively creative and engaging, bringing so much joy to the residents.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at RH from a genuinely grateful daughter.

Mum has been in RH since October 2024 and is very settled there. The manager and carers are amazing. She recently celebrated a birthday and I wanted to thank the whole care team for making mums day so special. She had a lovely time and her friends and family really appreciated it. The chef at RH made
her a beautiful cake with candles. It was a big decision to place mum in a Care Home but the family is grateful for her transition to RH and the amazing care team there.

My father has been in since September 2024, he made my day when he told me he was happy and comfortable this is down to all the staff. They keep me informed of any changes, hospital appointments and doctors appointments. He loves the home cooked fresh food. He loves to sing and the staff encourage him
plenty, I have found no matter who I speak to staff wise they are always happy to help, whether it be dad or me.

My Mum has been a resident at Royley House for only a short time but already she refers to it as her 'home' which is lovely to hear. Mum was very delusional and depressed when she moved in and as a family we were at crisis point. RH provide a loving and stimulating environment with lots of activities
both in the home and outside on outings. The staff are all absolutely lovely and we couldn't have chosen a better place for Mum to be. I now have some of my Mum back and know that she is safe and secure in a lovely environment.

I want to thank the manager and her staff for all they do for my father-in-law. They're always friendly and have a smile for everyone. I receive phone calls with updates and any appointments that come through.
The home is bright, modern, and clean. My father-in-law enjoys the freshly cooked food.
I especially love to see photos of my father-in-law partaking in activities at the home or having time out - to the local pub or off out on a day trip.
Thank you for all you do.

My dad stayed with you. He received excellent treatment from the minute he went through the doors. You went above and beyond to make his stay with you a happy one. The care he was given was second to none. Everyone went that extra mile for him making him as comfortable as possible and making him feel
safe. The accommodation is very nice and you can make it your own. The staff have lots of activities which you can join in if you choose. He was well cared for and happy. They looked after him and the rest of the family when he passed away I can't
thank them enough.

My Mum has dementia and has been a resident at Royley House for approximately 2 years. We could not wish for a better place for Mum. Mum is a sociable person & enjoys company, RH provides stimulation through various activities and social occasions. The staff are friendly, very attentive, and genuinely
care for residents. They take care of Mum's everyday needs and personal care as well as keeping her entertained with activities, dancing or just chatting to her - she loves them. The place is kept clean and does not have that 'Care Home' smell that some others do. The food is all cooked on-site and is of an exceptional standard with plenty of variety - the daily menus are displayed. Overall I would not hesitate in recommending this facility for a loved one.

All the staff are approachable and caring, they seem genuinely interested in the residents. I can tell Mum feels safe and enjoys the interaction with the staff. So nice to see the residents occupied with activities and not stuck in front of a television. The cleanliness, laundry, and catering are also
to an excellent standard, Mum loves the food and it always looks delicious. Her room always looks clean and tidy and her clothes and bedding are fresh and put away. Any issues or queries that I've had have always been resolved quickly. The conservatory has been a great addition and it's lovely to see the activities posted on the social media page.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.876)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.876) out of 10 for Royley House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 48 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.876 for Royley House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (506 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 573 Ratings = 4.876
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Royley House Care Home is based on 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 48 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

My name is Gemma and I am the Deputy Manager here at Royley House. I have always had a passion for care since I was a young child. I had the opportunity to go along to work with my mum, who worked in residential and nursing care throughout my childhood. During my time spent in the homes, I saw the love and care provided by the staff and also gained valuable insights into the intricacies of providing exceptional care. This ignited my passion to enter the care profession. I am driven by the belief that quality care is not just a duty but a calling, and I have worked hard to progress in my career, which began as a care assistant around 5 years ago. I aim to ensure an outstanding level of care is provided to our residents here at Royley House and is upheld at all times. I look forward to meeting you at Royley House soon!

Job Title: Activity Co-ordinator

My name is James and I have been a qualified Hairdresser for 15 years prior to taking over the Activity Coordinator role here at Royley House. This position suits me we as it fits in with home life, as I have a younger daughter. At home, we have lots of extended family from the animal kingdom. I am very passionate about the positive impact animals have and often bring some of them in for a cuddle with residents. Animal therapy is a passion I have, so I also plan trips out around this, too. Coming to work feels like being part of a big family, partially down to the team I work with but mostly because of the residents. I thrive knowing the activities I plan and the adventures we partake in are helping to enrich the day-to-day lives of residents.
