Claremont Lodge is among the very few care homes which is small and provides home-like environment for residents. Very recently it has gone through a major refurbishment programme. It has the right blend of being modern yet retaining the original features of a Victorian building. The only 18 bedded care home which is located in Salford, very close to Hope Hospital. Both single and shared occupancies are available, including temporary and respite beds. All residents benefit from a calm, cosy and relaxing atmosphere in which personal hobbies and interests are encouraged. They are always being complimented about their friendly, warm, happy and home-like environment. Referrals are mostly through “word of mouth” as they have an excellent reputation in the area. The local Authority and the Care Quality Commission also highlighted their excellent level of care and warmth towards the residents. They have long-standing, highly experienced and caring staff who are very flexible and accommodating. Choosing a care home for a loved one is always a very hard decision. They recommend that you pay them a visit before deciding where you want to place your dear one in a care home.

My mum has been resident at Claremont Lodge Residential Care home for 1 year and 5 months. The staff are really caring, and balance her independence with making sure her has fantastic care. As a registered nurse I know what good care looks like, an I have never had to make a complaint about her care
(unlike her time in hospital). If I needed to raise an issue I know the team would be receptive to this and would quickly take action to resolve this. Some years ago my aunt was a resident at Claremont Lodge before her death. Many of the staff are the same staff caring for my mum, who cared for my aunt. Therefore staff turnover is small. They don't rely on bank staff. The staff are an excellent team who care for my mum and the other residents so well. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I and my mum feel part of the Claremont Lodge family.

My mother, who suffered from dementia has been resident for about 18 months, she is very happy there and often thinks she is on holiday. The staff are friendly and welcoming and care diligently for the residents. The home is always clean and tidied. The staff have given a lot of thought to making it
look like a family home. I think its wonderful that the food is cooked fresh and this is a key to my satisfaction with the home. I would be devastated if this was changed as I am very aware how important good nutrition is.

My mother has been a resident at Claremont for five years. She is happy and settled. The staff, several of whom have worked there for many years, are caring and efficient and I am confident that she is receiving excellent care. Claremont is spotlessly clean, always smells fresh and the residents are
clean, tidy and well cared for. The care home provides a family-like environment and the staff always have time to sit and talk to the residents or just to hold a comforting hand. I have no hesitation in recommending Claremont to anyone looking for a small, comfortable, caring, well run and happy home for their loved ones.

My mum has been here since November 2018. She is always well dressed and clean. The staff paint her nails for her and put lipstick on which she loves. She's got a nice big room with all her photos put up. She's put weight on since moving in because the food is so good. Staff are always friendly towards
us and we can turn up to visit any time just not at meal times. My mum is very settled and this is thanks to the staff.

My sister has been a resident for three years and I can't thank the home enough for their care during these years. Apart from my sister, my mother was a resident between 1999 -2002 and her care was the same. The staff are great and so friendly.

Claremont Lodge is a small, friendly care home. Staff are long-term, rather than agency workers and therefore know residents well.
The atmosphere is very friendly and caring.
I have marked activities as satisfactory but they appear to be relevant for most residents.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.861)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.861) out of 10 for Claremont Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.778 for Claremont Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (29 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.778
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.083 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Claremont Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.6 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
