After viewing a number of care homes, we thought that Bamford was the best option. We like that the residents are in a busy, vibrant atmosphere. We think this provides stimulus which is important.

This isn’t the first care home my grandmother has been to but it’s without a doubt the best. We are so happy with the care and love my grandmother receives at Bamford Close. She is treated with such care and dignity. She has been there for 6 months and you can tell the staff genuinely care about her. We as a family, are always made to feel welcome. The place has a lovely community feel. I can not recommend this place enough.

Mum entered the home in November 2014. The staff are excellent. Food really good. Everyone makes you feel welcome whenever you visit your relative. Relatives are allowed to make a drink for themselves and not like other homes I have been into where the atmosphere is not friendly like Bamford Close. The only negative was the decor and chairs, but this has been rectified in the last couple of weeks. The gardens need a little TLC for summer. They are kept mowed and weeded but need some flowers etc so the residents can see them.

The very elderly lady when I visit is always well cared for and has definitely improved since going to live in Bamford Close. I also have a friend (in her 60's) who lives there and she certainly has good care (although her finger nails aren't always clean). There has only been 1 member of staff who I thought was rather negative with people.

Reply from Ines Kirby, Head of Care at Bamford Close

What impressed us about Bamford Close was the genuine desire to provide the best emotional and physical support for the residents. Mum is settled and well looked after and I feel confident to raise concerns in the knowledge they will be dealt with quickly and professionally. Bamford Close is well equipped and able to deal with a wide range of physical needs and manage risks in a number of ways (chair sensors, floor sensors, crash mats) There are no stairs and they have an accessible garden which is lovely in the summer.

I was reluctant at first when my mother entered Bamford Close, as I had hoped she would be able to continue living at home where she was familiar with her surroundings. But she had stopped wanting to be active, something she had always been. At the great age of 94 years old, she could no longer do things for herself. She has now been living at Bamford for three months and she has become much more active, using her walking frame to get around. She's very much enjoying her food again and having her hair done every week by the visiting hairdresser. She is taking much more interest in her appearance, asking for her earrings and lipstick. I am now very happy with the way my dear mum is progressing and long may it last. We are about to celebrate her 95th birthday and having a party for her at Bamford Close.

I have found my nan has been treated respectfully. Above all, they have worked hard to respect her independence and maintain her dignity.

Mum has been a resident at Bamford Close for five years. Mum used to go to day care there which she really enjoyed so it wasn't such a hard move for her when she had to have care at the time. There seemed to be a lot of activities going on. The food was good, staff were great over the years, the atmosphere has changed there does not seem to be as much entertainment etc. as there used to be. I am a firm believer that music is an important way and means of connecting with the people suffering with Alzheimer's. When I take my ipad to Bamford Close and play music from the 1930/1940's the ladies seem to join in and love it. (Also hymns) There also seems to be less staff, (more agency staff) than there used to be.
