Live life in colour at a Borough Care home.

Borough Care believes that everyone should be encouraged and supported to live their best life, whatever their age, health, or capabilities. Instead of settling into a grey existence, they choose to live life in colour.

In its 12 homes across Stockport and Staffordshire, the incredible life stories and fascinating characters of its residents are respected, admired, and celebrated with activities, friendship, and the freedom to lead fulfilled and valuable lives.

Borough Care prides itself on its flexible approach to caring for all residents. Its experience in supporting people with a wide range of needs and understanding the uniqueness of each individual and their families spans almost three decades.

Borough Care knows that choosing a care home is a big decision and that you need to know that essential care needs are met. That’s why it works with residents and their families to ensure that every person in its care has a Personal Support Plan. This means looking in detail at what’s important to the individual.

Unlike many residential care providers, Borough Care is a not-for-profit, meaning it doesn’t have any shareholders to pay or a need to charge any more than is necessary to provide outstanding care. Instead, Borough Care reinvests in its staff and residents.

When it comes to residents, their personalities are unique, and so too is their care solution. Borough Care takes the time to find out what every person needs and loves, so its teams can deliver the care and support that is personal to them; from the way they like to relax to the way they prefer their toast.

Get in touch, book a tour, and see how your loved one can live their life in colour at a Borough Care home.

Shoemaker Place is a very attractive and modern home. The staff came to visit my mum at home first so that they were prepared for her needs. The room was just like a 5* hotel and the food was top quality. She enjoyed her stay and the attention of the very friendly and professional staff. She will definitely
stay there again for her next respite care.

My stepfather has only been in Hen Cloud House since mid-August. In that time, I've found it to be a lovely place. He was very confused at first, but seems to be settling in nicely. Lovely and clean, very pleasant staff. If he's not happy there, I don't know where he would be; it's lovely. I can find

Resident has advanced dementia. All her needs are met by the care home - in terms of physical needs and emotional needs. They (carers and management) have worked tirelessly to understand and get to know resident so care is personalised and wherever possible treat her as though she is in own home. When
I am away from the home I feel 100% confident that resident is well looked after, is safe and treated with respect. Entertainment for resident also 100%.

The staff are very caring and personable, I have a fantastic relationship with her direct carers & seniors.Mum is a bit of a character and they definitely bring

I also feel that I am kept up to date & informed of anything regarding mum's wellbeing on a professional basis too.
The rooms are bright & airy and the housekeeping staff do a great job too.

Overall we are very happy with the care and support Dad is given in the home.
The staff are all very lovely.
There's been a couple of occasions where he has been damp when one of us have arrived at the home I feel like more regular checks asking if he needs a wee would prevent this as sometimes he
doesn't remember to ask.
Also we appreciate due to staffing and risk assessments that time to do physio with users is restricted, but more one on one time getting up from the chair by himself and some walking would benefit and keep him moving, but fully understand Health and Safety regulations and convenience and quickness of using a hoist.
Also i understand this is due to staffing but making sure he is got out of bed every morning and not left in there to have his breakfast when people have visited who have had to see him Still in bed rather than him sitting out and dressed.
These aren't criticisms but things we've noticed and suggestions for improvements.
Aware of staffing issues.
Reply from Danyel Bromley, Hen Cloud House Manager at Hen Cloud House

Thank you for such thoughtful and constructive feedback regarding your father's care at HCH. All comments are truly appreciated by the entire team.We apologise for the occasions where your father has been found damp. This is not the standard of care we aim to provide. We're committed to ensuring the comfort and dignity of all residents and will review and reinforce our continence care protocols with all staff.Regarding your mobility observations, we offer at least 2 exercise classes each week, to encourage movement and improve physical capabilities. We've just secured the services of a qualified physiologist who will visit weekly, to run group and individual sessions, allowing more personal attention to mobility needs, where appropriate and safe. Should your father return for additional respite (he would be most welcome) we'd be sure to include him in the sessions. Please feel free to contact me directly should you wish to arrange a meeting to discuss these points further.

My Godmother came to Bruce Lodge in May 2025. It is purpose built, very modern, clean and with lovely gardens. Her room is bright and airy. The meals always look nice and her dietary requirements catered for. All the staff are polite and friendly and work incredibly hard. Nothing is too much trouble.
When she has required a Doctor this is acted upon very quickly and I have always been kept very informed. The staff have got to know my Godmother well and I feel that I have got to know the staff well too. As a visitor you are always made to feel welcome. They have a great entertainment programme too with trips out, singers, visits to the park. I am happy that my Godmother has settled in so quickly at Bruce lodge and is being well cared for.

My mum was in Bruce Lodge for two and a half years and we were very pleased with the care she received.
Mum had dementia and wasn't able to fully engage with the various activities Bruce Lodge put on but for those that could, trips to the seaside, zoo, cinema and pub were really appreciated.
Mum's
care was exemplary. She was treated as an individual and having her hair done, nails painted and a pedicure made her feel special.
When mum was in the final stages of life, not only did she receive care but also love. We cannot express how much we appreciate what the staff did for her. Thank you so much.
