Live life in colour at a Borough Care home.

Borough Care believes that everyone should be encouraged and supported to live their best life, whatever their age, health, or capabilities. Instead of settling into a grey existence, they choose to live life in colour.

In its 12 homes across Stockport and Staffordshire, the incredible life stories and fascinating characters of its residents are respected, admired, and celebrated with activities, friendship, and the freedom to lead fulfilled and valuable lives.

Borough Care prides itself on its flexible approach to caring for all residents. Its experience in supporting people with a wide range of needs and understanding the uniqueness of each individual and their families spans almost three decades.

Borough Care knows that choosing a care home is a big decision and that you need to know that essential care needs are met. That’s why it works with residents and their families to ensure that every person in its care has a Personal Support Plan. This means looking in detail at what’s important to the individual.

Unlike many residential care providers, Borough Care is a not-for-profit, meaning it doesn’t have any shareholders to pay or a need to charge any more than is necessary to provide outstanding care. Instead, Borough Care reinvests in its staff and residents.

When it comes to residents, their personalities are unique, and so too is their care solution. Borough Care takes the time to find out what every person needs and loves, so its teams can deliver the care and support that is personal to them; from the way they like to relax to the way they prefer their toast.

The manager, assistant manager and senior staff do an excellent job to ensure my relative is treated with respect, care and compassion and are always available to help with advice, support and reassurance. The vast majority of carers know my relative by name and have taken the time to understand him
as his illness progresses. His room is spotless, and he really enjoys the food provided. The range of activities provided by the activities coordinated are excekkebt and varied. The efforts made by all the team at Christmas were exemplary.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to rate my mother's care. Over the last 18 months while she has been there I cannot fault the care given by all the staff and the cleanliness of the home. Special mention to Keira and Liam for days out to the coast, cinema and pub lunches plus many other activities;
bingo, quizzes, flower arranging, celebrating special days such as Easter, Christmas, birthdays etc.. and the singers, dancers, nail painting, visitors from small pets and many more activities which they arrange at regular intervals. All these activities enhance my mother's stay at Bruce Lodge. The care given warrants the 5 stars I have given. My only small issue is lack of access to the building at certain times which means waiting for the bell to be answered to allow admission into the building, although I fully appreciate its necessity for the security of the people living there.
All in all, a huge thank you very much for the care given to my mother.

I feel quite welcome whenever I go whatever the time. She still enjoys a lot of the activities especially the singers.

My Mum first came to Bruce Lodge D2A after a short spell in hospital. After being assessed it was determined that full-time care was necessary and Mum made the decision herself that she wanted to live permanently at Bruce Lodge. As we live a distance away we greatly appreciated the way everyone helped
us to make the transition smooth for Mum. We were encouraged to put personal touches in her room and she has a wonderful view of the garden and trees which she loves. The staff have gone out of their way to help her settle in (the two Matts and Andrea make for a very good senior team) and have coped brilliantly when things have become a bit tricky with her (due to the Alzheimers). The food is always lovely and Gemma went to a lot of trouble to make Mum's 90th a special event. I know Mum enjoys the entertainment and her recent visit to the cinema has been much talked about with her visitors. We are very pleased with how Mum has settled into Bruce Lodge.

Reinbek

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Overall we are happy with Reinbek. My mum is content, but wishes she was still in her home. My only issue (and hers) is that she is often left/told to wait when she needs the toilet - this is especially when one shift ends and the other starts - the ones finishing don't want to get involved by 7.50
and the new shift doesn't appear till 8.10 - 8.15. Twenty minutes where avoidable toilet accidents happen making more work and embarrassing for mum when wet through.
Reply from Donna Tannahill, Deputy Home Manager at ReinbekThank you very much for taking the time to leave us your review. We're pleased to hear that your mum is content at Reinbek. The concerns you raised have now been discussed with both yourself and your mum, and we are confident that no further issues will arise. We're also glad you're happy with the recent changes made to your mum's care plan, which will help support her needs going forward. We have reminded your mum that she is always welcome to voice any concerns - it's never seen as just a moan. As always, if you have any worries, our door is always open. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Reinbek.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My brother-in-law has been in Bruce Lodge since October 2025. I have to say it's one of the best care homes I have come across and my B-in-L has settled in really well. The home layout is so much better than the conventional care home style due to the smaller unit layouts and it seems to help resident
settle in better and not feel overwhelmed by large numbers of people in one big room. The rooms are a decent size with on-suite facilities and there is a good structure of events throughout each month to ensure residents are stimulated and there is plenty on offer if residents do want to engage. My only gripe is getting access when the reception is closed. Due to work commitments we can only visit in the evening and weekends and it can take quite some time for somebody to let you in. However, we understand the reasons for this, but if there was anyway to address this that would be great. Overall, this is an excellent care home with friendly caring staff and I would totally recommend it.

Bruce Lodge is an absolutely outstanding facility. My dad was lucky enough to be transferred to BL from hospital, initially for assessment. How lucky we were !
Once it has been established that he would need permanent residential care, we visited many others in the area.

As many of the other reviews

have said, the facilities, the food and in particular, the staff of Bruce Lodge are second to none in my opinion. We count ourselves extremely lucky that a place was available for dad.
We feel completely at ease that Dad is being very well cared for by the excellent staff who have made every effort to develop a close and very friendly relationship with him. There is an evident and excellent level of Banter between the staff and residents generally, which I feel is a massive bonus. We are very grateful to all at BL.

My husband has POA for our friend who is a resident at Meadway Court. We have been very impressed with the level and quality of care received by our friend who is very happy and contented to be living there.
On the rare occasions when we have had a concern about something, we have been listened to and
care taken to address the issue.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home as, in our experience, they are truly caring.

My father spent almost twelve months in Wellcroft before his death having spent eighteen months in a more expensive home (of which he couldn't make use of the facilities) and after six months with us after his dementia diagnosis. Moving to Wellcroft was fantastic, the staff are wonderful making his
stay almost as if he was with family. The home is clean, warm froendly with resident treated as individual and with care plans tailored to their needs. The effort the staff put into the Christmas celebrations was incredible. I don't think he could have cared for better.

Found Reinbek to be a clean comfortable home. The room is a decent size and kept clean and the home always smells pleasant. There's a lovely refurbished main lounge with good facilities. The only negative is that there has been no permanent activities person for almost a year. The have been some activities
taking place but not to the same amount as there would be with a dedicated person to coordinate activities.

I really didn't want my mum to go into residential care as I felt I had failed her. But Bamford Close is such a wonderful place.
