My mum first came to Cawood House in 2024 and the staff have looked after her amazing plus the entertainment person is making sure that my mum does physical exercise which is good also they get different sort's of animals which is good, the staff also try to make sure mum eats her meals, because she
has trouble eating, which I am very grateful for because I know she is eating something.

Overall care is very good.I feel my loved one is safe and looked after.
I am pleased that there are a lot more activities since Matthew has been the ALF previously activities were concentrated to downstairs residents.
However I do think that there are too many residents upstairs.
This results in
overtired staff. Many residents don't get an armchair to sit on after lunch yet there are many seats downstairs empty.
I strongly feel they should be able to sit comfortably as after all Cawood is now their home.

My mother has been a carwood resident for 3 years now.
Cant thank the staff enough for everything they have done during this time.
My mother is so happy here, all at carwood are doing a wonderful job.
It brings us great relief to know how well looked after she is.

My mum has only been at Cawood House for a few weeks but she has settled in really well. This is due to the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff and management. She seems very happy, as do the other residents. The regular activities keep her entertained and motivated to join in. The overall care
she has received so far has been excellent and she definitely seems to be in the right place.

Sadly Mum has passed away lat this afternoon. Over the last 2 years plus my Mum has been a resident, she has suffered with dementia. It has been difficult for her as her condition got worse. Lisa (manager) and the staff have been lovely with her. The last few weeks in particular Mum has struggled but
the staff continued to have a laugh and joke with her. I can only say that today I feel a loss for Mum but also I will really miss the lovely residents & staff.

The Cawood House family are so lovely and welcoming everytime we visit. They have made Mum very comfortable during her stay. The staff are professional and attend to Mum's needs on a regular basis. We can speak to the management if we are unsure of anything. We are very well informed and included in
Mum's care.

My father's care in the home is exceptional. He is well looked after and cared for. The staff are excellent, he is always being interacted with. He always looks smart, shaved, and hair brushed. They often do activities to stimulate them. I couldn't ask for anything better for him.
Thank you.

My husband has been in Cawood House for just over a year. He has settled in well. The staff are great with him. When I arrive at the home, the staff are very welcoming. It was our diamond wedding anniversary last year, and they put on a family party for us, also his 90th birthday, we were thrilled.

The level of care is well beyond expectations. All our family are so pleased with how well our loved one has settled into care. The staff all across the facility are genuine caring people and work always as a team keeping mum safe. Without this home, she would have lost her dignity and struggled to
live.

My father has been in Cawood House for over a year now and the best compliment I can pay is that he now sees it as his home and feels both safe & comfortable with all members of the team. In difficult circumstances there still remain the opportunity for him to smile and have fun. Thanks for looking

Knowing that my father is safe, fed and well cared for removes any anxiety I have about his wellbeing. It's not the cleanest or cosmetically the best place but that does not matter because it's not as important as having great staff with great leadership that have the interests of my father front of
mind. The staff do a fantastic job in what is a very challenging role.

My sister is very frail with complex needs and medical issues and also has mild learning difficulties. She needs 24 hour care now due to being a sever falls risk. From the minute she went to Cawood House she was made welcome by the lovely manager and her caring staff team. There is a happy, friendly
and relaxed atmosphere at Cawood. The staff provide excellent care 24/7. My sister has her own individual care plan which was shown to us, highlighting all her needs and requirements and demonstrating that all her needs are met. She is very happy and settled at Cawood House. Highly recommend.

Dad has been in Cawood since the end of December 2024. He has taken the transition very well. He always looks well-presented and happy whenever we visit him.
It has just been my parent's 60th wedding anniversary and we were unsure whether to mark it with Dad as we didn't want to confuse him. We were
actively encouraged to mark it and Mum was asked to come and have lunch with Dad.
They had a private lunch in the 'pub' at Cawood.
The staff had arranged a cake and there was a card and chocolates for my mum from dad which they had sorted along with a cake.
It was just the most special day. We took their wedding day album, so Dad could look back at it to help him remember.
Thank you so much to all the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.770)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.770) out of 10 for Cawood House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.770 for Cawood House is calculated as follows: ( (213 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 269 Ratings = 4.77
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cawood House is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
