My brother is clean and well cared for. Even though he can become anxious during washing and shaving. The staff are friendly and approachable and the centre is warm and comfortable.

We have always found Cawood to be very friendly and professional. The staff are warm and caring and Mum has settled in amazingly well there. We would recommend Cawood to anyone thinking about leaving a loved one in their care.

My wife has been at Cawood six months now, she’s settled into everything very well. Every time I visit, I come away happier.
All the staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My wife now looks on them as family and is happy to be left with them whenever I have to leave.
The activities
that are going on are not just for the residents, but involve families and friends all the time.
I cannot think of any better place for my wife to be.

I can honestly say my dad is happy and content at Cawood House. As a child of a dementia sufferer, the guilt of leaving your parent in care is huge. From day one, the staff at Cawood have assured and reassured me Dad is in the safest of hands. He receives care we as a family could only have hoped for.
We will be eternally grateful to everyone at Cawood for caring for my dad with kindness and respect.

My mum has been cared for at Cawood House for the last 6 months and I can only sincerely thank and celebrate the work the manager and her team deliver every single day at this home which is extraordinary. My mum had previously never required care and felt very ill very quickly requiring 24-hour care;
for any relative, it’s a traumatic, emotional rollercoaster yet as soon as I visited Cawood I knew it was the right setting. The team are compassionate, kind, and skilled and all go the extra mile to help every resident with their needs and feel at home. They prioritise what is important and you feel the love in this home which is equally filled with respect and kindness. I owe this team so much for what they have done for my mum and thanks to them she is now at home with me. I will be eternally grateful and they are all superstars. Thank you!

So pleased with how Cawood House Care Home runs. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. My relative always has a hug and a smile for them.
Her room and the home always look clean and presentable, and they look like they are all well-fed with good food.
Activities for all the residents are really
good. They try their very best to keep all their clients occupied.

My husband is so happy since he came into Cawood, and as a family, we couldn't be happier with all the genuine loving care from management to every member of staff, and never too much trouble, whatever he needs, as we ask and we are kept updated; also we can phone day or night and always reassure me
when I feel down. Better than a counsellor, and it helps me so much, and also I never knew that I would ever be so lucky to express a care home so brilliant.

My father has been a resident now for almost four years, and throughout that time we as a family have never experienced anything other than the highest levels of care and dedication. Across all the staff, the management, the carers and the domestics, there is a great enthusiasm to ensure he is safe,
clean, happy and engaged. The mood there is always cheerful and untiring, he can be troublesome and unstable yet they all take this in their stride and in good humour. I'm certain that the commitment shown by the team has lessened the deterioration of his dementia and has given him many more good days than he would otherwise have enjoyed. All in all we are deeply grateful for the precious and rare qualities found at Cawood House Care Home.

Everyone at Cawood House has shown complete compassion, care and love to my mum. I couldn't wish for a better place for my mum. There are plenty of activities available. The garden parties in the summer were fantastic. I know Mum has the very best of care and is in safe hands.

My mum has settled in so well at Cawood House, and that is down entirely to the wonderful staff who work there. We feel completely confident that she is being properly cared for and looked after. She loves being involved in the wide range of different activities that take place. A good example was the
recent elf day, where the staff and residents had a great time and raised money for a dementia charity. We are always kept up to date with what's happening at the home. The biggest compliment I can make is that it feels like a loving home as soon as you walk through the door, and I can't thank all the staff enough for their care and dedication to my mum's well-being, as well as all the other residents.

My mum has only been in the home for a couple of months, I was very worried but I find all the staff to be very caring which is a huge relief. Also, the events coordinator is always trying to put different activities on for the residents which must be challenging as there is only one of her. I did help
with an art activity last week and it was great as I had quality time with my mum and it was something she had not done before. She enjoyed doing it, she couldn’t remember afterwards but we have photos and memories to look back on. Mum is even walking much better with her walker and is going to the dining room for her meals whereas before she was just sat in her chair at home. She now has care 24 hours and this is peace of mind for me as she can’t do anything for herself. Also, the fact you can take dogs in to see her is fantastic, as a family, we love our animals. I can only hope that she will eventually fully settle in there and accept it as her home in the future as the staff seem amazing.

Both my mother-in-law and father-in-law are Cawood House Care Home residents. They went in during Covid which made it hard but the home kept us informed at all times. We are now able to visit and find all the staff really friendly and they always have time to update us on their progress. The activities
are great and their quality of life seems to be better than it was for a long time before they joined Cawood. It is a huge relief to know that they are so well cared for. The family WhatsApp group which keeps us informed of events in the home is also fantastic. A big thanks to everyone at Cawood.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.780)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.780) out of 10 for Cawood House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.780 for Cawood House is calculated as follows: ( (198 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 246 Ratings = 4.78
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cawood House is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
