The team has worked hard to build a strong community reputation, maintaining positive relationships with residents and their loved ones through enhancing their quality of life.

My father has been a resident now for almost four years, and throughout that time we as a family have never experienced anything other than the highest levels of care and dedication. Across all the staff, the management, the carers and the domestics, there is a great enthusiasm to ensure he is safe,
clean, happy and engaged. The mood there is always cheerful and untiring, he can be troublesome and unstable yet they all take this in their stride and in good humour. I'm certain that the commitment shown by the team has lessened the deterioration of his dementia and has given him many more good days than he would otherwise have enjoyed. All in all we are deeply grateful for the precious and rare qualities found at Cawood House Care Home.

Everyone at Cawood House has shown complete compassion, care and love to my mum. I couldn't wish for a better place for my mum. There are plenty of activities available. The garden parties in the summer were fantastic. I know Mum has the very best of care and is in safe hands.
Reply from Lisa Murphy, Home Manager at Cawood HouseThank you so much for your review, for families to feel that their loved ones are in safe hands is what we strive for. It is so important that families are reassured.

My mum has settled in so well at Cawood House, and that is down entirely to the wonderful staff who work there. We feel completely confident that she is being properly cared for and looked after. She loves being involved in the wide range of different activities that take place. A good example was the
recent elf day, where the staff and residents had a great time and raised money for a dementia charity. We are always kept up to date with what's happening at the home. The biggest compliment I can make is that it feels like a loving home as soon as you walk through the door, and I can't thank all the staff enough for their care and dedication to my mum's well-being, as well as all the other residents.
Reply from Lisa Murphy, Home Manager at Cawood HouseThank you so much for your review. Always lovely for us to hear that families are reassured about the care and well being of their loved ones. The atmosphere is definitely a big compliment for us as this is so important that families feel they are walking into their loved ones home.

My mum has only been in the home for a couple of months, I was very worried but I find all the staff to be very caring which is a huge relief. Also, the events coordinator is always trying to put different activities on for the residents which must be challenging as there is only one of her. I did help
with an art activity last week and it was great as I had quality time with my mum and it was something she had not done before. She enjoyed doing it, she couldn’t remember afterwards but we have photos and memories to look back on. Mum is even walking much better with her walker and is going to the dining room for her meals whereas before she was just sat in her chair at home. She now has care 24 hours and this is peace of mind for me as she can’t do anything for herself. Also, the fact you can take dogs in to see her is fantastic, as a family, we love our animals. I can only hope that she will eventually fully settle in there and accept it as her home in the future as the staff seem amazing.

Both my mother-in-law and father-in-law are Cawood House Care Home residents. They went in during Covid which made it hard but the home kept us informed at all times. We are now able to visit and find all the staff really friendly and they always have time to update us on their progress. The activities
are great and their quality of life seems to be better than it was for a long time before they joined Cawood. It is a huge relief to know that they are so well cared for. The family WhatsApp group which keeps us informed of events in the home is also fantastic. A big thanks to everyone at Cawood.

My mum has lived at Cawood House Care Home for over three years and she is very happy and we are happy with her care. During Covid she has been kept safe, we were very worried at this time but as soon as there was a problem Cawood went into lockdown.

The staff are really friendly and helpful, creating a supportive and interactive environment. They are constantly keeping relatives up to date with activities that residents have been involved with, sending you pictures and short videos if you are not able to make the events. Real quality service.

My father has been cared for by the outstanding team at Cawood House Care Home over the past two years. They continually ensure he receives a high standard of care, despite the changing challenges his dementia presents to the care team.
In addition to caring for our father, the team ensure consistent
and comprehensive communications with the family and continually identify methods including WhatsApp groups to share pictures of activities.
I am grateful for the peace of mind the Cawood House team provide, knowing how well my father is being looked after - thank you.

Made welcome by the staff from the beginning of my husband's stay.
It will be nice when we can visit more frequently and would like to see inside the home.
The answers to rooms and food and drink I'm unable to answer - not seen.

I have only been visiting Cawood House Care Home since November so have only seen the visiting room and reception. The staff are always very helpful and have been supportive of me as well as Mum.
The staff provide plenty of activities to keep the residents busy and they take time to get to know them.
Mum tells me the food is very good and that she has a lovely room. I look forward to seeing it when I can.

My grandad is a resident, he has settled well and this is down to the amazing staff. They are caring, bubbly, very welcoming, and patient. My grandad is sociable, however, sometimes can be a bit cheeky, however, the staff are great and have a good laugh with him. He’s formed great friendships with staff
and residents. Thank you to all the staff, you’re all amazing.

My dad is very well looked after here at Cawood. He loves all the lovely ladies that look after him. He doesn't want to eat very much these days, but they know exactly what to tempt him with to get him eating. The home is always very clean, and the carers are always quick to spot someone that might
need to use the bathroom or might just need help with something in general. The food is very nice and varied and there are themed nights at certain times throughout the year. The garden area is really nice and safe to just wander around or just to sit and enjoy it. They will always keep you informed of any changes that you might need to be made aware of or if something needs reviewing. They have done a brilliant job in keeping my dad, and all the other residents, safe during the COVID outbreak. The management and staff are all very friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have and comfort you if needed. I'm so grateful to these lovely caring ladies. I would 100% recommend Cawood House.

First of all, I must say I am so impressed with Cawood that I always tell people how happy I am with the wonderful care my friend receives. But today oh my word! far exceeded my expectations. The Manager and Senior Assistant set up the visitor's lounge on the upper floor for myself and my friend to
have lunch together, complete with easy chairs in front of a tv, cushions, and lighting to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I was almost moved to tears. This home is above and beyond.

During my mother in law's stay, she has always been happy and content. Her weight has gone up and down with the dementia and keyworkers have communicated well with me on her needs re clothing and personal care. The home is always clean and smells nice. Management have changed but the care from Borough
Care is consistent. Cawood is bright, airy and decorated to a lovely standard. I turn up unannounced, ring up any time of day or throughout the night and receive a pleasant response. If I myself had to live in a home I would be happy for it to be Cawood House. Well done to all staff.

My wife was blessed to Cawood House. She has been in Cawood for 19 months. The care has been marvellous. My wife had TB, Meningitis at 17 years old in 1953, she was in hospital for three years. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.770)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.770) out of 10 for Cawood House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.770 for Cawood House is calculated as follows: ( (213 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 269 Ratings = 4.77
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cawood House is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
