Mum moved into Silverdale 4 months ago and I'm delighted that she now seems settled having made an association that her room is now her new home. Her physical health has improved considerably. She is eating and drinking better and some interest in food has returned. Whilst she is still hard to get up
in the morning the staff have encouraged a routine which suits her and she is benefitting from improved sleep. She was reluctant to join in at first but with gentle encouragement now seems to be enjoying the company of other residents and some of the activities. The home is warm, clean and inviting. It has a cosy homely feel, and the seasonal decorations keep interest and are very attractive. The staff seem generally kind and interested in the residents and their wellbeing. The management however are exceptional. Their commitment to the residents in their care is evident in all aspects at Silverdale. Arranging flowers for mum to give to her granddaughter on her engagement was exceptionally thoughtful and appreciated. They have made a difficult transition easier than I could have ever dared hope and all our family are extremely grateful.

My mother has been a resident at Silverdale care home for around five years suffering from dementia.
I can honestly say that the care that she has received during this tme has been exemplary. The staff are friendly ,caring and professional , always ready to help when asked.
They make what is a difficult
situation bearable.
My mother has always loved music and .dancing , and the sight of her smiling as she dances along to the singers who are regularly invited is heart warming .
Thank you for all you have done for my mother over the years.
Reply from Christine Allen, Deputy Manager at SilverdaleThank you so much for your kind words, it is a pleasure to be able to support and care for your mum these past 5 years, always the first up dancing at every opportunity. We will be sure to pass this on to the staff team. Thank you for your continued support.

Mum has been a resident at Silverdale since September 2024. Mum has a complex medical history & cultural needs, however, from her first day Mum settled in very well. Mums care throughout has been outstanding. All the staff, at all levels, are so caring, happy, supportive, dedicated, undertstanding and
considerate. This is clearly evident fromthe smiling faces of all the residents every time I visit. Mum's medical, cultural & personal needs are all met to a high standard. Unfortunately Mum lost her eye just a few months after moving into Silverdale. There are no words to describe the care & support Mum and I received at this very difficult time. I am very grateful to Silverdale for all the support, love & care they give to all of us. They are our Silverdale family. Thank you Silverdale.

Silverdale has saved my life. After such difficulty looking after dad, I am 100% confident in his care. The staff are amazing from housekeepers, keeping it spotless to carers showing kindness, empathy and really knowing the personalities and quirks of the residents. Food is good and plentiful and activities
are available for those who want them. Xmas and the lead up were fantastic, thank you.

It's hard to find a care home for a loved one especially at an emotional time but as soon as we walked into Silverdale we knew we had found a lovely new home for our mum,it just had a nice feeling. The staff were so welcoming ,it was spotlessly clean and ,it smelt fresh. They did not know we were calling
so it wasn't just for show, the staff were interacting with the residents which was lovely to see.Our mum always said she would nt ever go in a home but she is so happy there, she s always been a loner but we see a remarkable difference in her ,she interacts as and when she chooses ,if she wants to be in her room they knock on the door just to check she s ok and happy. She s allowed her possessions around her and it makes it home from home.As a family we are so happy that she is content and we ask her each visit if she s happy to be there and she always says yes and she would say if she wasn't!!

I really like that all the staff are very caring towards the residents within the home and equally friendly to visitors. Silverdale is kept spotlessly clean, and residents always have a smile on their faces. Which is a testament to how happy they are and how well they are cared for. My aunt is very
happy there.

My sister went into Silverdale about 9 months ago. She was very timid, scared and extremely frail, but since she has been here, she has thrived, she's a lot more confident, and has improved her well being and put weight on. This is very important to me and my sisters as she feels safe and secure, and
she certainly feels like it's a home, and there are lots of activities to keep her active and happy. She loves it here.

My mum from hospital was diagnosed as needing to be in full time care. I fought for her to be given a place at Silverdale. Eventually, with a top up agreed, we were given a room. It is the best news we had, so happy the staff are truly amazing, from all departments and run superbly, which reflects in
all my tick/x's. There is nothing too much trouble, and my mum is safe and well cared for, which is fantastic.

One of the hardest emotional parts of my life was accepting that my mother had to move to a care home due to her dementia. At the beginning of her time there, it was wonderful to see her making friends and causing mischief for the staff by going into the manager's office and stealing their sweets. Over
the months my mother's condition declined to the point where she lives in her own world not really knowing anyone of her children. It's got to the point where the weekly visits turned into every couple of months, but I know she is being looked after at Silverdale. I have no doubts that they can look after her better than I could have done. It's still hard to visit her and not see the person she was, but she is a happy old woman amongst people who can take care of her very well.

Whenever I visit my mum, she is always dressed neatly and seated together with others in the day room for company, which is beneficial for her. Although she is not very mobile and seated most of the day, the staff continue to get her to walk a little whenever possible, which is good for her well-being.
Her room and the general environment of the care home are always clean and tidy. The atmosphere and background music are also pleasant. She has just had a birthday, and banners had been put up in her room, which was nice. Whenever I call to see how she is, the staff are courteous and helpful. I get updates regarding any health issues and details of activities Mum has joined in with, as well as trips outdoors. It is such a relief to know she is being well cared for.

For several years, my mother has lived in a few care homes. It has been such a stressful time as her needs have been somewhat demanding. For the last couple of years, Mum has been at Silverdale, and from the first day, her care there has been exceptional. Everyone is so supportive, understanding and
considerate towards Mum. Whenever I visit, there is always a carer available to update me about Mum’s care. There is always a friendly, warm, welcome, plus Mum’s room is always spotless. We can relax in the knowledge that Mum is well cared for and feels at home in her own special way.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.759)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.759) out of 10 for Silverdale is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.834 for Silverdale is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 199 Ratings = 4.834
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Silverdale is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
