Our mum was in Silverdale for 6-months; she received palliative care and end of life care there. The manager and every one of her staff accommodated me for 4-days and nights; they gave me more time with Mum, was so empathetic, kind and gave Mum the best 6-months of her life.
I have been a CA for most
of my career and know how hard it is in this profession. Silverdale, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, not only did you look after Mum, but your staff looked after me while I stayed by Mums side; you gave myself and my sisters more time with Mum, and that's time I will cherish; your staff are amazing. Wouldn't have picked a better place for Mum - you are amazing.

Mum was in Silverdale on respite but then was assessed by the social worker for residential care. She loved the place and classed it as her home. The staff have been amazing with Mum; she was only there six months, but they were like her little family. Unfortunately, Mum became very poorly and was on
end of life; the home let us stay with Mum until she passed. They let my sister stay for 5-days while I and my other sister visited, they looked after all four of us, and we can’t thank them enough, each and every one of them was brilliant throughout the night and in the morning when Mum passed away. One member of staff went above and beyond making sure we were ok with food and drinks and taking care of Mums needs when she had passed away. We wouldn’t have wanted Mum to go anywhere else; their compassion and care were amazing. Thank you to the manager and her team at Silverdale.

The level of care is second to none; I couldn't ask for anything more for my mum. The staff are amazing and so approachable. The home itself is clean and inviting. Mum loves the food; there's so much variety. I know it feels like a home from home to her. Thank you, Silverdale, for all you do.

My grandmother is currently in Silverdale. She isn't the easiest of people due to her dementia, as she finds it hard to trust or get along with people she doesn't know. But being at Silverdale, they have brought my old grandma back, who is always laughing, smiling and having so much fun. The manager
and the deputy manager took so much of their time to sit, speak and get to know her and bring her out of her shell. The manager is so professional, but in the same way, treats every resident like they are family. So does one particular lady, I've seen her at all the parties, and she is the first worker I see getting up and dancing, making every other resident have the best day ever whether they are dancing with her or laughing at her. I owe every single staff member a massive thank you on behalf of all my family.

I can not thank Silverdale enough for the care they have given to my grandmother. They are like family to her and also to us; the way they support her needs is amazing. She always has a smile on her face, which is just fantastic to see. She's always clean and freshly dressed, and the meals provided
are spot on. It was such a difficult time for us as a family making the decision to put Gran into a home, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you to all at Silverdale; you have made the decision well worth it.

My mum settled in so quickly, which she didn't at a previous home!
She loves the food. She knows she is in safe hands, and nothing is too much to ask - they are so accommodating, the staff are affectionate!
Highly recommend and have recommended this home!

Fantastic, caring home for my mum. I cannot fault the care provided for my mum, who is 93-years-old. The staff are lovely and take time under the very difficult circumstances we find ourselves in at this present time. The family have been made to feel welcome when visiting Mum, and I am very grateful
to them.

Silverdale staff go the extra mile to make residents and their visitors very welcome. Visited today to see Mum, and the COVID restrictions were well explained and adhered to. They had remembered it was Dads birthday and made sure she had written a card for him. It’s these extra touches, over and above
excellent care, that means so much.

My mum moved to Silverdale only 3-months ago, after being in assisted living for a number of years. When she moved to Silverdale, she had been neglected at the setting in Stoke, and along with Covid restrictions, she was in a bad way. She entered Silverdale and was welcomed from the outset. She thrived
there. I could not believe the change; she had been unkempt and reclusive in Stoke, at Silverdale, she became a completely new person. She was cared for, engaged with people, and was happy. The staff all knew who she was, who I was and worked really hard to make sure Covid wasn't impacting too much. My mother sadly had a stroke a couple of weeks ago, which she didn't recover from. I am so pleased that her final few months had been there - I couldn't have wished for a better place for her to be; I just wish she'd had longer. The manager and her team go above and beyond for their residents.

Having to place my mum in a home was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but the manager and her amazing team were there to help every step of the way!
They keep me updated on how Mum is doing, and I can relax knowing she is cared for, very well fed, has lots of activities to keep her
occupied and she is definitely much happier now.
I cannot recommend Silverdale enough and am so grateful for everything they do.

It was a blessing when we secured a place within Silverdale #cre home. Mum was happy there from the start, which had not been the case in her previous home. The staff intuitively knew what mum needed. They were kind and patient. She loved the home-cooked food, and there was always something going on.
I would not hesitate in recommending this care home.

My mum has vascular dementia. She had been in and out of hospital several times as she didn't want to get up and wasn't eating or drinking properly and she seemed depressed. Mum went into Silverdale for respite from hospital and I was happy she went there as she has stayed in for respite before and
was really settled. We were all worried about mums health but now she seems to have a new lease of life, she is eating and drinking well has made friends so has plenty of company. All the staff are brilliant they go out of their way to help us cope during these hard times (covid 19) by arranging Facetime for us and sends us photos of mum from events they have held there. All say what a character she is, so definitely more like her old self. We cannot thank enough all the staff there for the care they give Mum and the peace of mind they give us. Keep up the amazing work you all do. Thank you.

My father has been a resident at Silverdale for three years. It is very clean and well organised. The food is excellent and always well presented. The physical care given is generally good, and the staff are very competent and caring. The role of the activity and lifestyle coordinator is absolutely
crucial. I am pleased that the excellent temporary manager is now permanent.

Like everyone when mum needed to go in a care home it wasn't a nice thing to have to do. We couldn't have found a nice more caring home than Silverdale. All the staff are considerate to all the residents and nothing is too much trouble from repeated requests for a cuppa to a friendly chat. There are
many laughs which in these hard times we all need. It is a comfort to know that everyone is well looked after and very safe.

During the lockdown, the care home has kept me up to date with my mum's health always contacting me if she has been unwell. The teabag sent for me to share a "cuppa" with her despite not seeing her brought tears to my eyes. I have had one visit to the garden, all well organised and was joyful.

Having to put my Grandad into care was the hardest decision our family has ever had to make. I had sleepless nights when he first went into the home worrying if he was ok, but now 8-months later, I feel reassured and confident he is very well cared for. Due to Covid19, I have only been able to see him
through the window for a good few months, each time he is smartly dressed, clean-shaven and above all happy. Special thanks to the acting manager at present; she has been amazing and always there to answer any queries. Thank you to all the staff for the amazing job you do and for taking care of my precious Grandad.

My mum has stayed at Silverdale for the last 3 months having previously come from hospital after having a fall at home. Not having met any of the staff as mum came in during the COVID-19 outbreak l can only go on conversations l have had with staff and my mum on the phone. Mum had nothing but praise
for the staff always saying how kind and helpful they were and as mum usually does not mince her words this was good enough for me. l found the staff l spoke to helpful and always ready to listen to what you had to say to them. lt was with regret that l had to move my mum from Silverdale to a home nearer to me as l do not have transport and it was just too hard for me to get there. l would never have moved her otherwise. l would definitely recommend Silverdale to anyone thinking of a home for one of their loved ones as my mum was very well looked after. Thank you to all the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.761) out of 10 for Silverdale is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.836 for Silverdale is calculated as follows: ( (168 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 201 Ratings = 4.836
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Silverdale is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
