With mixed dementia, my mother was less and less safe living alone. She moved into Shoemaker Place one month ago and I am so happy to know that she is safe, respected and entertained. The staff and facilities are excellent.
Mum moved from a previous care home which was akin to a cheap B&B compared to Shoemakers 4/5 star hotel feel. Always a cheery welcome from every member of staff, many who know me and my wife by name. All staff make mum feel very comfortable and are very encouraging to ensure she eats properly, joins in with other residents and spends as much time as possible in the residents lounge and not isolating in her room. It's all so reassuring to me.
Thank you for your kind words. We're so happy that your Mum has settled in so well and that you've noticed such a positive difference. It truly means the world to us to know that our efforts to create a welcoming and comfortable environment are making such a positive impact on both your mum and your family.
I am very happy with the way Joan is being looked after. The staff seem very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately I cannot mark "activities" higher because Joan is unable to participate in any of them. Also food is difficult to assess because she can hardly eat anything. It is a pity that Joan cannot be raised up on a hoist so she can meet people. Christmas is going to be a very sad time for her.
Thank you for your review, and I hope that now that your wife has been with us for a couple of weeks, you are pleased with the progress we have made. She has been able to spend more time out of bed for the first time in several weeks, and has been engaged with some of the other residents and the...
She seems very contented.
Thank you for your positive feedback, I am pleased that mum is settling well at Shoemaker and she is enjoying joining the other residents for the daily activity.
Shoemaker Place is a very modern home, very bright - he is lucky to be a resident.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience at Shoemaker, I am so pleased Stuart is settling well and we will endeavour to encourage Stuart to join other residents in the lounge each day. I will speak with his key worker Sharon when she returns from leave next week.
Shoemaker Place is a very attractive and modern home. The staff came to visit my mum at home first so that they were prepared for her needs. The room was just like a 5* hotel and the food was top quality. She enjoyed her stay and the attention of the very friendly and professional staff. She will definitely stay there again for her next respite care.
Thank you for your feedback, I am so pleased mum enjoyed her stay with us and look forward to welcoming her back again for future respite stays.
We used Shoemaker for respite for my mother. The service was friendly, calm and supportive. I felt the level of care was excellent. They communicate well with family. We would use again.
Thank you for your positive feedback following your mother's respite stay at Shoemaker. I will pass onto the staff team your comments. We look forward to welcoming you back to Shoemaker for any future respite stays.
Lovely atmosphere, I love how the staff know all of the residents. My mum seems happy and settled which is so good to see. The team are approachable and go above and beyond for everyone. Thank you for making a difficult time easier.
Thank you Nicola for taking the time to complete a review for the team at Shoemaker Place. We are so happy with how well your Mum has settled into our community and feel very privileged to have her with us at Shoemaker. Thank you also for assisting with our recent trip to Llandudno, we hope you enjoyed the day.
Staff work collaboratively to give independence and care and promote dignity. My loved one has a high quality of life here.
Very much part of the local community.
Activities are fantastic.
Thank you K L for your review. Your relative is a very valued member of our Shoemaker Place community and we feel very lucky to have him here with us. I will share your kind words with our whole team.
Positive experience, promotes independence, comfortable room caring staff good food happy ambiance.
Thank you P B for taking the time to share such positive feedback. I will be sure to share this with the team at Shoemaker Place. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
We had a very good review with two staff members who explained every we asked very thoroughly. Shoemaker Place is always very clean and comfortable every visit. The staff are very professional and at the same time kind and caring.
Thank you Jackie for your kind words. I am so happy you found the review beneficial and Mum is settling at Shoemaker Place. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit and no doubt at our next event.
My ife has been a resident for 3 weeks, during that time she has always received excellent care emanating from the manager, admin staff through to the care workers. There is always a smile and offers of help or assistance.
Thank you Malcolm for your kind words which I will share with the team. We look forward to seeing you in Shoemaker Place on your next visit..
Shoemaker Place a beautiful care home, the staff and care given to the residents is just amazing.
Thank you J E for taking the time to share such positive feedback which I will be sure to pass on to the whole team.
They have similarly been very welcoming to and caring of my father who is not resident but calls in most days to spend time.
The current management team are fantastic. Proactive, visible, engaged, taking and acting on feedback. Communicating. Documenting and reviewing regularly both in monthly meetings for all relatives of residents and private reviews to discuss individual residents needs. Please never leave!!
I was always content we chose this home for mum but now I couldn't imagine moving her anywhere else for better care because it's just not possible.
The only negative I have at the moment concerns the catering which my mother often complains about but there is going to be a tasting session of the meal selection provided and then i will have a better idea of the quality of the food rather than rely on mother's taste as all tastes are different.
Today i have a meeting with the manager to discuss my mother's medical needs which is something that has never been offered before and is most welcome so that i know that she is getting the care that she needs.
Keep up the great work that you are doing.
Thank You.
Thanks for sharing your comments once again. We appreciate your kind words and positive comments regarding the changes at Shoemaker Place. I will be sure to share these with our whole team. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Shoemaker.
This month the staff continue to assist my relative to meet all his activities of daily life. My uncle can be challenging to receive care, however the staff always remain calm and professional. The care they give is exceptional and I have full confidence in them. Thank you everyone, welcome to the new manager, well done to activity member for getting my uncle to join in.
Thank you for your lovely words which I will be sure to share with the whole team at Shoemaker Place. It has been lovely to see Ken joining in with activities in recent weeks and we will continue to encourage him to participate.
There is now a new management team in place who are very positive and proactive and have already introduced some new practices.
As a relative, I feel much more included.
All the staff are extremely caring, friendly, and supportive.
There was a lovely atmosphere over Christmas with a lot of hard work put in to include residents and relatives.
I look forward to seeing all the new practices and ideas put in place.
Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to complete this review, which I will be sure to share with the whole team. It was lovely having you with us over the festive period, and I hope you enjoyed your Christmas lunch with your Mum at Shoemaker Place. I look forward to catching up with you again at our upcoming relatives meeting later this week.
I spend a lot of time at the home keeping my wife company and find all the staff to be caring, friendly, and efficient. I'm content she's in a good place and well looked after. I'd like to see the garden better tended, we used to enjoy visiting gardens and seeing colourful and attractive planting. This garden has little interest.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review for us. It is always so lovely to see you on your daily visits to Shoemaker Place and I will pass on your kind words to the whole team. Thank you also for your feedback on the gardens, we have an upcoming visit planned from our maintenance team in...
Mother appears well cared for, secure, well fed, and most importantly happy and content.
The activities have been especially helpful with her integration into this caring community.
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete your review and for your positive feedback. I will be sure to share this with our team and we looking forward to seeing you on your next visit up to Shoemaker.
Since the new management team have been in place I have had the care plan meeting with the new deputy manager which was very comprehensive.
We also had a recent relatives meeting with senior staff (the last one was 06/03/2024). It was very professional and was very reassuring to listen to the new ideas and plans in relation to concerns and issues. What was even better was that some of these plans have already begun to be put in place and I am confident that these will result in overall improvements to the running of this home and care for our families.
I look forward to supporting the new management moving forward.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. It is great to hear that your previous concerns have been addressed and that you have noticed the positive changes made by our new management team for the home and our residents. If there is anything else we can do, please feel free to...
