Overall Experience
Mum has spent her first Christmas at Peel Moat and enjoyed an excellent festive atmosphere with plenty of food and activities.
Activities take place throughout the year, reflecting the season or holiday and are very helpful in keeping everyone active and interested.
The staff are very caring and extremely helpful in giving updates and support to relatives.
The home itself is always clean and seems to have an ongoing programme of redecoration that keeps it looking modern but welcoming.

Mum is much happier in this environment than in her flat, where the days are long with little to interest her, and her needs are well met by the staff and management.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review.
It's so helpful for other care seekers to read about life in a care home. I think particularly what you said compared your mum's life at Peel Moat to being in her flat. Very impactful.

With best wishes.

We were so worried when we placed Dad here nearly four years ago. It's never easy to make the decision to give up the care of a loved one, but since getting to Peel Moat, my father has flourished! The staff are so accommodating, warm and friendly. They have such a tough job to do, especially during lockdown, which was handled by management and staff brilliantly. I live over 70 miles away, so we don't see him as much as we'd like, but the girls keep in constant contact with us via telephone and email with updates, and the Facebook page is a delight, posting videos of birthdays and Christmas. When we do visit, there is always something going on, from karaoke to bingo, and it melts my heart to see Dad singing and waving his hands in the air. We could not ask for a better substitute family than the staff at Peel Moat, and that is what they are... an extension of our family. We're so blessed that he is in such a caring environment, and we can't thank the staff enough. They are all heroes in our eyes!

Well, your review actually brought tears to my eyes.
I can just picture your dad waving his arms and enjoying the music.
We always consider our residents to be our extended family members, and it's great to read that you feel that way about our team members.
I agree with you - they really are all heroes!

With best wishes.

I feel really lucky to have found Peel Moat for my mum. We are both very happy with the choice. The staff are just lovely and notably friendly. They really care for her and about her and are so welcoming. Mum's physical and mental health has definitely improved - she speaks very highly of the food - and there is always lots going on, which is good for her even when there are activities she can't really participate in. They have sorted out a few medical things, including instigating a recent diagnosis, and are thoughtful and clear in their communications with me. Any issues/queries are resolved immediately and well. Because it's an old building and relatively small, there are some limitations. However, the atmosphere and comfort make up for this. I like the fact that it's homely. The lounges have just been refurbished and look lovely. Like many people with elderly relatives, this was all a new experience for me, but I am happy I made the right decision.

Had a really lovely visit to Mum's the other day. And had a good laugh with the staff too. Everybody is so friendly at Peel Moat. Deep down I'm so happy that Mum was lucky enough to be placed in such a friendly place a couple of years ago now. You see all sorts on the telly, but I can quite honestly say, here, lay all those worries to bed... the staff cannot do enough to make sure everyone is at their comfiest. They're lovely. And must have to put up with so much. I truly believe you have to be born for this line of work. I most certainly don't think I could have ever coped with Mum without people like this in the world especially now. In fact I know I wouldn't. But they just crack on, making the best of any challenges, big or small. Just amazing. Mum's probably one of those challenges! I can rest assured! In jest. And I just don't think we give these lovely people the highest credit they deserve at times... thank you Peel Moat. From me. And, on her behalf, deep down, Mum.

Very happy with the love and care given to my husband. The food is excellent and they help my husband when he has difficulty eating. Nothing is too much trouble. I prefer to wash shirts and jumpers myself and have a notice in his room stating this. But there is never any of these items there for me. (This is my only complaint!) Otherwise, the care is outstanding.

The home was very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The care and attention the residents received was fantastic. The home was very clean and tidy and the food smelled delicious. The care and attention residents received was great to see and the time spent with residents just simply talking.
The staff were very friendly and funny, this friendly loving fun environment meant the residents were having fun and a great banter between the staff and residents.

The care home manager didn't stay in her office she spent quite some time talking and reminiscing with the residents, helping them remember places they had been and enjoyed.

My mum has been in Peel Moat Care Home for over four and a half years. The staff are always cheerful and professional. If they have any concerns we are informed by phone. Plenty of activities throughout the week to keep residents activate. Photos are put on social media so you can see how they are going, lovely to see.

Our mother has now been a resident for six months and has settled in well. All the staff are very welcoming and caring and her likes and dislikes are recognised and catered for. The endless cups of tea make her very happy and our family are all happy with the care that they provide.

It has been lovely being able to see mum on a more regular basis now restrictions around Covid are relaxed - that said the wonderful team at Peel Moat Care Home are still very diligent in the battle against Covid. Could not ask for anything more from everyone who looks after mum. She has not been in the best of health this past month and everyone has been "there" for her and she is now found more of herself. My thanks to you all - happy daughter.

Generally, the staff seemed kind and compassionate. My mum's room was fairly standard but could have been cleaner. I had to bring an issue to the manager's attention which was addressed immediately. The home needs some general maintenance, the outside looks shabby. So overall, my mum had adequate care but there is room for improvement.

The lift has been out of action for three out of the four weeks that my Mum has been in the care home meaning no visitors as she can't come downstairs.
She telephoned me one Sunday morning at 11.35 am to advise that she was still undressed and had not been attended to.
When telephoning to arrange an appointment you can never get anyone to answer the phone. Last evening, I attempted to drop off some essentials for my mum but no one came to the door so after thirty minutes I had to leave.
My Mum asks for a cup of tea and gets told she can't have one.

One evening my Mum was still sat in her chair at 9.25 pm waiting for someone to come and help her get to bed. She had been in the chair all day. It was clear that there were no staff on her floor at all and all the residents on that floor were left to fend for themselves. The zimmer frame had been left on the other side of my Mum's room so she couldn't even attempt to get up herself to use toileting facilities etc.

Staff are caring and treat residents as individuals. I'm so glad they have employed an Activities Coordinator, the activities carried out are fun and everyone included not just residents that are able to respond fully. Clean and nicely decorated.
