Generally satisfied although have felt they have been slow to react over the pandemic, eg. garden visits. The home is in need of some repair and renovation. Staff are very helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We will absolutely take your points on board. Our priority as you can imagine during the pandemic has been the safety of the residents and team. We are currently conducting reviews of all our properties, which we haven't been able to do during the pandemic to prioritise environmental work.

My mother's been in the care of Peel Moat Care Home for three years, in which time, she has the best care my family could have wished for. Mother really enjoys and is very happy to live at Peel Moat.

Mum seems happy with the care she receives. The staff know her well and always inform me if she is unwell and any treatment she needs. Mum enjoys the activities and is encouraged to join in.

My mother has been a resident of Peel Moat since January 2021. During this time I have seen her a few times due to Covid restrictions but she does seem to be generally well settled and happy here. Staff respond promptly to my calls and emails and my mother is mostly in good spirits. It will be lovely when we can finally meet properly again and I can see her room and hug!

Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Peel Moat Care Home

Thank you so much for your review. It has been a very difficult period for all during lockdown and I am glad your mother seems happy and settled. I know the restrictions are still difficult but I hope you will soon be hugging your mother in her room.

My mother was admitted to Peel Moat Care Home one month before the first lockdown. I was impressed with the care she received, help to settle and warmth of staff relationships. It is difficult to comment in any detail over the last 12 months due to no contact in the home. However, staff have worked hard and done their best to keep me and the family informed. Care appears to be good.

Under this very bad year, we have not been able to see my husband but Peel Moat Care Home has kept us up to date with my husband and has always been willing to listen when we have phoned up. They are very caring professionals and I don't believe he could be put anywhere better. Thank you.

Mum came into Peel Moat following a two-month hospital stay. The staff made sure Mum settled in well and were always attentive and treated her with care and dignity. The management team made me and my family at ease as soon as she arrived. The only problem for us was the care home was not near the family for ease of visiting long term and that is the only reason we moved Mum, so she was nearer to the family. Mum was happy for the time at Peel Moat.

Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Peel Moat Care Home

Many thanks for your lovely review. It's great to know that when your mum was with us at Peel Moat the care given extended beyond your mum to you and your family as well. I hope she is just as happy in her new home.

Mum became a resident at Peel Moat on 6th November 2017. She had previously spent a short time in another home.
The rooms vary in style but are all tastefully decorated. Residents are encouraged to introduce personal goods to make the room more like home.
Food is excellent with a varied choice of meals on the menu daily. No resident is rushed to finish food. Breakfast, dinner and tea plus regular snacks during the day and supper! Clothing is washed daily, ironed and placed in residents wardrobe.
Weekly hairdressing available.
Entertainment – regular events including craft workshop.
There is a great team of carers here. From the management team through to the carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and maintenance.
Any issues in the rooms are quickly addressed.

This is a true team with one aim of giving the best care to our loved ones. There are some lovely and very dedicated people here. Overall this is a lovely home with some true professional caring staff.

My mum has been resident at Peel Moat Care Home for eight months and I could not ask for more caring staff. They have encouraged her to take part in the many activities organised for residents but have been respectful of her wishes on the occasions when she declined. The carers are kind and compassionate and demonstrate real affection for Mum. She is now unable to leave her bed so requires a lot of help, which is always given with gentleness and love. I and my family visit every day, at various times, and we have found that Mum is well cared for, no matter what time of day we arrive. The food is excellent, plentiful, freshly cooked and well presented, with a good variety of menus. The kitchen staff are prepared to cater for alternative choices if requested. The decor is nice and homely. The porch and ramp to the front door are not easy to negotiate - an upgrade has been promised but has not happened so far. Likewise, the promised upgrade to the garden area has never happened.

Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Peel Moat Care Home

Many thanks for taking the time to complete a review - it is wonderful for team members to hear what a great job they are doing and that they have such a positive impact. Many thanks also for your comments re the ramp and garden - these will be addressed with the appropriate person.

Mum had a medical emergency. Carers were very quick to respond and I was asked to attend immediately. Upon arrival, Mum had been kept comfortable and her breathing assisted until the paramedics arrived. Without their stoic persistence and extremely gentle but effective response, Mum may not have pulled through. All the staff were marvellous! My welfare was also dealt with very kindly and my appreciation was noted with the home manager. I am so glad I have been able to put Mum in a lovely home.

Excellent care from all the carers in this care home. They have been so helpful, friendly and professional in all their dealings with my father and both me and my wife. Actually, have recommended Peel Moat to friends and their relation is now a resident of the home.

A place was found for my mother at Peel Moat by social services.
From our first interview and visit, we were very impressed with the care manager who presented the home to us as a home.
The attention to detail with regard to my mother's care and needs was excellent.
We as a family have been welcomed and looked after on all our visits. We are very impressed with all the staff.
Long may it continue.

Thanks for everything.

I would like to suggest that the afternoon cup of tea should be more special. The tea cups could be nicer and everyone could be gathered together in one room so it is more of an occasion. The chairs in groups possibly. It feels like the tea/coffee is just "doled" out and the tea cups are horrid and tea is usually served cold! I am very impressed with the effort that is made in the dining room and feel this should be continued in the living rooms when refreshments are served.

Reply from Alison Foreman, Business Development Manager at Peel Moat Care Home

Thank you for your review of Peel Moat and we take on board all of the comments you have given regarding afternoon tea. Of course, we were concerned that you felt that the service we are giving falls short of expectations and we are now going to be working hard to rectify this. Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. Kind Regards

This "home" for it is home for my mother could not be better. My mother was slowly deteriorating in her own home, lonely following the death of her husband of almost 60 years, increasingly a victim of dementia. Since she moved into Peel Moat the transformation has been amazing. The staff are the biggest asset. Caring, full of good humour and treating every resident with respect and dignity. The food is home cooked, I can visit anytime and take my dog, who is always happy to be made a fuss of by everyone. I work long hours and the knowledge that my mother is so well cared for, gives me peace of mind. And I can visit anytime I like. I arrived one day and mother was nowhere to be seen, she was in the loo. The two carers accompanying her in there didn't know I was there. They were speaking to my mother so kindly and affectionately, proof that this home from home is top notch. Mother likes to go up to bed early and one young carer has arranged for her to have a telly in her room. SO KIND!
