Reviews

8.7 Sandon House has a Review Score of 8.7 (8.745)

The Review Score of 8.7 (maximum of 10) for Sandon House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Sandon House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.519 for Sandon House is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.519

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.226 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sandon House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 8.4 positive Reviews (42 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 8.4 Target = 0.476

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mum went in here for one week's respite following a hospital stay. The staff were attentive, friendly, helpful and flexible when meeting mums needs. Family and friends were welcomed when visiting. The food was good, the atmosphere was lovely, mum felt safe which was important to us all.

I belong to a singing for pleasure group and on a few occasions, we've sung at Sandon House. We sang at their 'beach party' on Saturday 19th. Unfortunately, the weather was too poor to have the party outside but the staff pulled out all the stops to relocate indoors. What an enjoyable afternoon. The staff and residents are lovely and very happy. The home was clean and welcoming. Everyone (who could) joined in the singing and seemed to enjoy it.

My mother was admitted for respite care. The service that she has received from all the staff is excellent. They are always happy to discuss any issues with family members and always have a smile to greet us. This has been our first experience of care homes and it has been a very positive one.

I found the review excellent as I found out how the staff felt my mother was doing and could discuss her needs for future care. The person who conducted it made me feel that my feelings and those of my mother mattered and that she was a person and not just another resident. The whole review was conducted in a relaxed and friendly manner.

My mum has been in Sandon House for nearly a year. I cannot believe how well she has settled and the care she receives is amazing. She has dementia and other problems but is always treated with respect and dignity. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. It has taken the pressure off myself and my family so much. I now feel at last I have got my own life back. I can't thank everyone involved at Sandon House enough. They are amazing.

The home was suffering under last management, demotivated staff, not enough staff etc. Now the staff are motivated, upbeat and happy. The only reason I have kept mum here is because of one person who genuinely cares for her residents. Great changes lately, thank you.
