All the staff at Lyndhurst are friendly and approachable, any queries I just speak to someone (nothing is too much trouble). Over the past 'mad' 12 months, Mum (and all other residents) have been looked after, cared for and entertained. We (family) have been kept up to date with everything. Been very
grateful for what they have done and for all their help. Thank you.
Reply from Carol Pemberton, Manager at LyndhurstThank you so much for this response. We continue to strive to maintain high standards in all aspects of the home, we are happy you feel this way and as always our door always remains open.

Communication regarding Mum has been second to none. Whenever there is a minor issue, slight illness or any other matter this has been communicated immediately. And for the majority of 2020, we were not able to make actual visits, due to COVID and diarrhoea and vomiting outbreak. All through this and
from our previous experience interaction with staff has been nothing but excellent. The staff are brilliant.

My mother was extremely happy during her 6-week stay. She enjoyed the food and activities. The staff were lovely with her.
Help provided with bathing etc. Adequate room but could do with some updating in places.

I live abroad and visit Lyndhurst annually in March. I phone my mother on Sunday evenings and the staff are always very professional, updating me on my mother's condition and taking the phone to my mother so I can try and talk to her.
The manager, staff, pharmacist and nurse practitioner that I see
are always very helpful in keeping me up to date with recent events concerning my mother.
The manager and deputy manager usually email me if there are any urgent concerns.
The manager gave me an update today re my mum.
The staff are very caring when dealing with my mother. I feel very reassured that my mother is receiving such good care.

My Great Aunt received excellent care throughout her stay. From assessment to her recent passing the care and support were excellent from all the staff. Attention to detail for all her needs was second to none. The quality of the staff the cleanliness of the home and sheer hard work by all. The staff
was formidable especially at the end of her life, the care at this time was gratifying. Grateful thanks to all.

I have been visiting for 3 years to see a relative also I have stayed there three times for 5-6 nights so that my daughter and sister in law can have a few days away. They always manage to give me a room if at all possible. The staff from the top down to the domestics are brilliant as you know old people
can be a bit awkward. I think its frustration more than anything. I am 91 and 3/4 and I am one of the lucky ones, I can help myself. The lift is a bonus as I can't manage the stairs. The food I enjoy as I can eat it without complaints.

Visiting the care home 2-3 times a week. I find everything quite satisfactory overall. The staff are very dedicated, hard working and friendly and respond quickly to any queries or problems I have concerning my brother. It is clean and warm but does need some refurbishment to spruce it up. Particularly
the conservatory and outside frontage. Sometimes the lunchtime menu leaves a lot to be desired and the portions overall are small.

The home always has the best interests of my mother as it's priority in the event o her becoming distressed. They do their best to reassure and comfort her, keeping me informed and updated. I have no complaints or issues with the service they provide I would recommend them to potential clients.

Our experience of Lyndhurst and the staff is nothing but positive. The care mum gets is second to none. Not the most patient of people, mum can be very demanding. No matter what time of day or night we call the home is always welcoming and communication is a major part of their care and whenever. Recently,
in January, when the home was closed to visitors due to flu and D and V, we were kept fully informed. In addition, when mum has required professional intervention, her requirements have always been actioned promptly. Basically, we have no issues or concerns about the support, treatment and care mum receives from Lyndhurst. Nothing but excellent.

My second cousin came to Lyndhurst for respite care. After 3 months it was felt she needed to stay in care.
It took her a long time to settle, but she is now happy. Unfortunately, she is stone deaf so it has been difficult for the staff and herself to join in conversations and activities.

My mum first care to Lyndhurst in July 2011 for respite care when she first became disabled. It was for a short stay but she was really impressed by the care and attention she received. By 2014 her disability had become worse and she considered going into care full time, she requested that if she could
go to Lyndhurst she would be overjoyed. Luckily for her and for me she had a place offered. I visit regularly and she keeps telling me how lovely the staff are, nothing is too much trouble and she is well looked after. I can see for myself how clean the rooms are and the staff are brilliant. All residents look happy and contented to be there.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.591)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.591) out of 10 for Lyndhurst is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.716 for Lyndhurst is calculated as follows: ( (145 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 190 Ratings = 4.716
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lyndhurst is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
