Overall Experience

Marmaduke Street is an excellent and extremely well-run care home. Mum has been a resident for over 4 years and receives excellent care. We've always been happy with the care given to Mum here, but have noticed a huge improvement in the home, since the arrival of the current manager, Beverley, together with Jenny. They are professional, friendly, approachable and make every effort get to know the residents and their families. Their door is always open and they always ask how our visit has gone and often chat to me about Mum, showing that they really know their residents, on a personal level. The home is spotlessly clean and staff keep the residents clean and tidy. The food is of good quality, and the menu is varied. Activities are encouraged, for those who can take part and time is spent nurturing those who are less able to join in. Staff seem happy in their work, despite the challenges of caring for those with complex needs. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marmaduke Street Care Home!

My friend moved to Marmaduke care home in March 2026 from a private care home. Sorry i never moved her earlier. The staff here are AMAZING. She is out of bed every day. Previously lucky if got 2 days out of bed. Always staff about making sure drinks are given regularly. She has settled in so well and i think its the staff that have made the move easier. Well done Bev and staff for a job well done

Our experience with this 'care' home, I use the word 'care' loosely as there is no care, my mum was in this place for 6 months, she was bed bound, unable to attend to her personal care and struggled with feeding herself. She was left for long periods of time on her own, as a result of this sustained pressure sores which became infected, although it was care planned for her to be turned every 2 hours this didn't happen, even when staff were prompted by family members. Trying to contact this place is a nightmare, nobody picks up, numerous times I would have to contact the EMI unit upstairs to then be transferred to the nurses office, poor in my opinion. Mums diet was poor, she deteriorated quickly over the months she was there, food was basically put in front of her and she was left to feed herself, bearing in mind she was unable to do this herself. I could go on and on but it won't bring my mum back, long story short avoid this place!

My experience with this care home
Evening and weekend staff not supervised enough, care for my mum is awful at these times, unfortunately the day staff are let down by evening and weekend staff who come and go at the nod of a head, residents can't rely on them for personal care .
Would be helpful if they could understand English as well.
Furious with my mum's care
Really don't know what we're paying for apart from shelter and meals

Very annoyed family members

This place should be shut down! Poor management and safeguarding issues prevail.
On no account send your relatives to Marmaduke care home.

Read the latest CQC report to confirm its findings, which also show our concerns.

My mum has been a resident at Marmaduke Care Home since September 2022.
The family were anxious to find the very best care for mum that would meet all her needs and after some quite extensive research we decided on Marmaduke and we have not been disappointed.
The staff are professional, caring and friendly and always treat mum with respect and dignity. Should there be any issues we are contacted promptly.
There are various planned activities during the week and mum particularly enjoys the guest artists who come along to the home on Fridays.

With the help and support of the kind and dedicated staff at Marmaduke, we feel confident that mum is in safe hands.

There is a very defensive and negative culture in the nursing wing at Marmaduke which employs some staff who shouldn't be working in a caring profession. Low levels of compassion and a cant-do attitude were prevalent. There are some hard-working and caring staff; three come to mind. I received the impression that following the terrible CQC report and bad publicity concerning one of Marmaduke's sister homes, that Lotus Care had brought in strict processes and checklists that meant that Marmaduke staff were put under increased stress. Many of them seemed miserable. In addition, in the 4 months I was visiting my mum on the nursing wing I didn't once see a nurse. I certainly would not recommend this care home.

This place needs shutting down as soon as possible. My mum was here awaiting assessment on a 28-day bed. She has dementia but had broken her hip and couldn’t return home. Mum ended up being in here for 36 days. The worst time of our lives. In this time she had only had two, yes two showers and her hair had been wet but not washed. The food is pure slops. Her weight dropped so much that it was a visible difference. She lost her big toenail, she had scabs on her arm. All her clothes went missing she had someone else’s clothes on. We went to pick her up to take her to another home in Walton on Wednesday. Thank God. The cleaner saw us to the door, not management, with no notes or medication to take with us. They said she was doubly incontinent and needed pads at all times. Well on Wednesday she had someone else’s clothes on that were too small and had had them on for 3 days with no underwear or pads in sight. Her bedroom was filthy. If you have loved ones here please keep a check on them. Angry.

At the Aaron Lodge care home, I find it hard to say anything bad as it is now. It is a lovely caring home. After two years of visiting my partner every day for two years, there has been changes but all for the best. When I leave I feel very content. It really is a five star home.
