My main concern is the food. It is prepared without much love or attention. It is usually tasteless and often not cooked properly, sometimes cold. Due to the physical and/or mental condition of many residents, they do not know what they are eating, but what is served is not good for the more able-bodied
residents. There is also a lack of choice in the food offered. Portions are very small. Desserts are not appetising. Hygiene could be better in handling things like biscuits and cups of tea.
Reply from Katie Price, Careline Advisor at Ash Court Care Home

Thank you for your comments provided regarding our care home, Ash Court. We really appreciate all feedback received as it helps us to improve our service where required. There have been many changes and improvements made to our meal service since your review. We have changed our meat supplier, and your comments were shared with our kitchen team in order for changes to be implemented. Alternative choices are being offered and the home’s management has increased their monitoring of practices around mealtimes. Weekly dining audits are also now being conducted.

One of the managers has since met with this Resident to gain further feedback and the feedback given is that the food temperatures are much better and the quality of the food is much improved too. The Resident stated that she has a varied appetite, sometimes preferring spicier dishes. The management and the Resident have agreed to work together to continue to improve the taste and choices of the food offered, as well as enhancing the mealtime experience as a whole.

Since my mother became a resident Ash Court Care Home the staff have done everything possible to meet her needs. She settled in quickly in a lovely caring friendly environment. Ash Court has been the best place to care for my mother and also welcome the family and keep us updated on everything my mum
does.
All the staff are really helpful and kind.

Used for a one-week respite care. Better than many others I have used and experienced. Staff seem attentive and management seems on the 'ball'. Just a shame they will not take bookings more than two weeks before a stay. Company's accounts dept. is a joke, however, sending incorrect invoices with wrong
dates seems the norm.

Ashcourt is very pleasant place to live, very bright and very clean. All the staff are extremely pleasant, helpful and care very well for every bodies needs. Meals are varied and staff are prepared to provide alternative meals should the residents not like or not feel like what is on the menu for the
day.

Ash Court is a very happy atmosphere. This is obviously due to the management as well as the staff who are so gentle, calm and caring with the residents. My mother has transitioned from her own beautiful comfortable home to her new home here at Ash Court. A very big thank you to the managers and staff
for making my mum feel loved.

My friend has been at Ashcourt for nearly four years now and in all that time care and dignity has always been given to her. She has liked staying here and is happy staying here. I am very pleased with all the staff as they are always looking after her wellbeing and would and have recommended Ashcourt
to other people.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.363)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.363) out of 10 for Ash Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.611 for Ash Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.611
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ash Court Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.952
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
