My mother has been here nearly a year and has received the very best care and attention from day one. This home provides the closest thing to a home from home environment for both my mother and the family when we visit. The staff truly care and take time to find out each residents likes and dislikes,
the food is all home cooked and always well balanced as well as delicious. The activities range from those who are more outgoing to those who prefer quieter pastimes. The home has a number of areas to relax in but my mother often chooses her room, which is always spotless as are her clothes and bedding. The hairdresser on site is an extra bonus and ensures my mother always looks her best. It was a hard decision for all of us to choose residential care but now we couldn't contemplate anywhere else, I live over 1 1/3 hrs away but I know can always pick up the phone to speak to my mother or to the staff if I have any questions and without fail they all know exactly where and how my mother is.

Since my mother-in-law has been placed in New Milton House she had received the best of care from both management and staff. It was very difficult for the first few weeks but the staff had the ability to ease her mind and gradually help her to settle into her new life at New Milton House. Six months
on now and she is very happy and content with her life at New Milton House. She now has friends to talk to which she didn't at home and enjoys a good social life inside and outside the home. She joins in most of the activities now. Any problems that have arisen have been taken care of promptly by either staff or management, on the whole, it is an excellent home.

Very caring staff and management. It is a care home that I would enjoy being at if I had to go into care myself.

My friend passed away in April and I wrote these comments on a review card at the time. However due the inevitable work involved with a friends passing, I mistakenly omitted to post it. Even though it is now some months since my friends passing, the sentiments are still very relevant and I want to
formally record that I cannot speak highly enough of EVERYONE involved in my friends care at New Milton House in Alsager.
Right through the entire team, from the Senior Management and Carers, to the administrators, caterers and cleaners, the attention and support given to my friend was just heart warming and was so very much appreciated. My friend spent just under a year with 'her new family' at 'her new home' and the love and support by the staff, right up to the very moment my friend passed away, was just amazing to witness.
The carers gave something of themselves in a truly loving, genuine way and is something I will never forget. "Thank you" somehow seems inadequate.
Reply from Helen Clark, Home Manager at New Milton HouseThank you so much for taking the time to post this incredibly moving feedback. It was a privilege to support your friend, and it is crucial to us that we make people's time with us as special and positive as possible. It will mean a great deal to our team to read your comments and I will ensure they are shared with everyone. Thanks again.

Found all the staff very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Looked after all my father's needs. Fetched a doctor when needed. Very homely and clean.

My old friend was 90 years old and in the last month of her life all the staff at the home went over board looking after her. She had lived there for over three years and she called it her "hotel". The staff were extremely friendly and caring about their residents. The home was always clean and tidy.
At first when she went there they used to take her on little trips out, which she thoroughly enjoyed. If she wanted to join in there were all kinds of activities she could do. She particularly enjoyed the quizzes they had and also the entertainments they had. I can honestly say she really enjoyed living there and was extremely well cared for.
Reply from Helen Clark, Home Manager at New Milton HouseThank you so much for this lovely review! It was a privilege to have your friend staying with us at New Milton House and our staff will be thrilled with this feedback that she enjoyed her time with us so much.

Lovely home set right next to a beautiful park. Particularly liked the meal arrangements in the Dementia Care Unit - just brilliant. Staff were always cheerful and were often outstanding, always showing empathy and understanding to residents and relatives. Many went well beyond the bounds of expectation,
especially during my sister's final days, when their treatment of her, and us, was incredible. We will be forever grateful.

My aunt, aged 95, has always refused to go into a care home but, although had always had lots of help with carers at home, there came a time after several falls at night (most vulnerable time) when there was no option for her. After only a short time it was obvious that it was the best decision she
made. The staff and manager of the home are wonderful. Such a homely feel and nothing too much trouble. They take the time to get to know a person, their likes and dislikes and make them part of a family. Thank you. I now have peace of mind.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.608)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.608) out of 10 for New Milton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.758 for New Milton House is calculated as follows: ( (129 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 161 Ratings = 4.758
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for New Milton House is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
