Park Lane Care Home is a wonderfully bright and cheerful home in the historic market town of Congleton, which is within easy driving distance of Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent and on the main railway line.

The purpose built home has been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard to provide a comfortable and homely living experience for older people and people living with dementia who require residential care.

Park Lane is a real home from home, offering well-appointed rooms, enviable living space and features beloved of the residents including the new Park Inn bar, park and pamper hairdressing and beauty salon, and attractive outdoor areas and gardens, with an accessible garden currently being created. The bedrooms are spacious and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms to make them as homely as possible, which helps them to feel settled.

It also has a new feature ‘Park Inn Bar’, with a small beer garden as well as its own pamper hairdressing and beauty salon, both of which residents love.

Mealtimes are an important part of the day and chefs prepare delicious home cooked food to tempt even the most discerning appetite. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meal in the dining room, taking their time, while socialising and making new friends.

The well-being of residents is important and the home has a varied entertainment programme which takes into account the like and dislikes of residents and their different levels of abilities. Activities include arts and craft sessions, music afternoons, craft, trips out as visiting professional entertainers.

My mother is well looked after and the staff are all very pleasant. She is well presented with fresh clothes every day. The food is plain but well cooked, and in recent times under the new management is more varied. I have put poor for activities, they do have entertainment, ie. music and movement,
and singers come in. Maybe they are too far into their dementia to do more but I would like to see a bit more stimulation.
Reply from Stephen Pullinger, head of PR at Park Lane Care HomeThank you for such a positive review. It really makes our hard-working staff feel appreciated.

Mum has been at Park Lane for 20 months now. She has mild-to-moderate dementia, and is partially sighted.

She tells me that she feels extremely well cared for, and that she is very content, being surrounded by other people "in the same boat" and is no longer lonely.

Staff (that is, all staff

- managers, carers, maintenance and administrative staff) maintain a consistently welcoming atmosphere, always offering Mum and visitors a friendly word in passing.

Rooms are bright, cheerful and scrupulously clean. Food is wholesome and plentiful.

As a result of Mum's sound self-organisation and feelings of independence, staff very occasionally need to be reminded not to tidy her room too thoroughly, in case she is unable to find her knitting!

Mum's health improved significantly upon arrival at Park Lane, and she has remained in good health ever since.

My opinion of Park Lane is that it is a very friendly environment. Staff are very good and patient they seem to let mum have freedom of the home sometimes she does not want to go to bed so they let her do her own thing which I think is good. If there are any problems with mum they keep us well informed
which is another good thing. Mum seems very happy.

My mother has been in the home for just over 3 and a half years and I can honestly say the standard of care has been consistently of the highest standard. Any slight problem has been attended in the most prompt and professional of manner. The current manager has maintained an incredible level of care
and understanding. I cannot fault the home on any level at all.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.952)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.952) out of 10 for Park Lane Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Park Lane Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (260 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 273 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park Lane Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My career in healthcare began in 1989 at the age of 16 on a YTS scheme as well as attending college. By the age of 18, I was given an award for being the youngest manager in Cheshire travelling across the country in a peripatetic role. I have 31 years experience in different areas of care. I joined Kingsley Healthcare almost six years ago and have gained further experience and knowledge within the manager role including achieving my NVQ 4 and 5 in management. I am the manager at Park Lane in Congleton and am proud of my well-established staff team. We have just won an award on Carehome.co.uk for being in the Top 20 in the North West and 1st in the CW12 area.

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

I have worked in Park Lane for 22 years, having left school at 16 years ago. I initially worked in the kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant. I later moved on to care, undertaking the necessary training to support residents with their personal care.

I have always been flexible to fit in with the needs of the home, and when a position came up in the housekeeping team over 2 years ago, I was happy to step into the role to help. As a result of my role in housekeeping, I have recently been appointed Head Housekeeper.

I love working in Park Lane; no two days are the same, and it is always wonderful to chat with residents and learn about the lives they have led.

In my spare time, I enjoy taking my children to their varied activities as well as socialising and relaxing with friends and family.
