Tracy is good at providing distractions to liven up the residents eg; today's party, hiring a singer, playing bingo, quizzes. Tracy also went the extra mile for my mother's 100th birthday, even getting it in the press, and organising children's visits from her school. But on an ongoing process I think other distractions could be provided eg, animal visits, a fishtank. Normally it just daytime tv on the tv and for my mother its tedious. (and me) I don't know how other residents feel about it.

Its hard to liven up sleepy residents with dementia, but I've seen how a sing song really wakes them up went a singer is hired.

I just want to acknowledge the care provided by the staff and senior leadership team of the home who have worked hard to give mum back some quality of life and dignity.
At home, despite family and home care best efforts, she deteriorated to such an extent the GP recommended end of life planning.
However, with excellent communication, quick action of the manager, coordinating care between services for the home, mum was quickly assessed by district nurses, inputting in urgent care and a Specialist Advanced Nurse managed her medical conditions from the GP practice, non of which was offered by her own GP when at home.

The home have involved us throughout and have listened to mums wishes to ensure she is central in all decisions. They have also been supportive to myself and my sister for which we will be forever grateful. The quality of care and investment in staff is evident by my mums improved wellbeing.

We had to make a very difficult decision for my brother to move into care due to personal circumstances and his complex needs.
The managers and staff have been exemplary in their understanding of the situation. It was always going to be a difficult decision and the support and understanding received has been brilliant. They have made sure he is settled in and he has a good rapport with the staff. They are working extremely well with his anxiety issues and are engaging and encouraging him in his hobbies. Due to his issues they are trying to engage him in activities but this can be difficult for him.

He is very happy at Coote Lane which is great to see.

My Mother -in-law had been a resident for many years. I found the staff very caring and friendly. In December 2025 my mother-in-law, was on end of life. The staff where respectful and caring, keeping us updated when we asked. In the last couple of days, nothing was too much trouble we where all looked after. They understood that it was a very hard time for us, and accommodated us. They provided support 24/7 and allowed us to spend as much time with her as we wanted. When the family could not be there, a member of staff sat with her. I was comforted by the way they responded to us, as a family and to my mother-in-law. I would recommend this care home to anyone looking for one for a family member.

My mother has been in residence at Coote Lane for just over a month. The care and attention she (and we) have received has been touching and reassuring, with all staff showing consideration and respect to all residents and visitors. When I have asked questions or expressed a worry about my mother the staff have responded immediately and sought external help for other services in a diligent and timely way. I have been particularly impressed with the teamwork both with staff in the home and also the wider community nursing and medical services. My mother enjoys the food and finds all staff kind and supportive. I feel a particular mention needs to be made about staff on the night shift as mother is so impressed that she only needs to press the call bell once and she gets an immediate response. She is so reassured that there is someone there to bring her a cup of Horlicks should she need one and will sit and talk to her while she drinks it

I can not thank the entire staff of Coote Lane enough for looking after my dad Jimmy during the three years he was there. I'm still coming to terms with his recent death at a tad short of his 102 birthday but I will be forever grateful for the outstanding care he received whilst he was there. I got to share the lives of many of the staff there, from engagements, weddings and even births which seemed to make Coote Lane more homely and always a pleasure to visit. Jimmy was not always in the same "24hrs" as everyone else but the staff would always inform me when he was up so I would shoot down to visit and I was always offered a cuppa no matter the time of day or night, they went above and beyond and they would always offer me a cuddle to cheer me up particularly towards the end even when I didn't realise I needed one. Thank you Coote Lane, I couldn't of chosen a better place .

I feel the relatively small size of the home helps to provide a more personal approach to providing care to the residents. There is a good friendly atmosphere in the home which is good for both residents and visitors. Mum took time to settle which is what I expected but after recent stays in hospital Mum now seems happy to be going back to Coote Lane. Vicky has been very good in helping Dad to join Mum at Coote Lane and in taking a keen interest to help him settle. Overall I feel Coote Lane would compare favourably to other care homes in the locality.

I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after mum, she has been at Coote Lane for seven years now and is sadly bedbound but the care is wonderful nothing is too much trouble. The staff are very approachable and you can visit anytime you like, no need to make an appointment. The food is good and there are always choices at meal times to. My coffee during my visits is much appreciated, thanks again I highly recommend this lovely care home.

My mother has recently stayed at Coote Lane Residential Home for two weeks respite care whilst we attended a family wedding abroad.
I was initially worried about placing her in a home but having visited the home with my mother prior to admission all fears were abated.
The home was clean and spacious and set in beautiful surroundings. The bedroom was a good size and well equipped.
The manager and all the staff we came into contact with were absolutely lovely and very accommodating to our personal requests. We visited my mother twice before we actually left for the wedding and I could see she was well looked after and happy which put my mind at rest and enabled me to enjoy my sons wedding.
Since returning home my mother has praised the kindest of the staff and the quality and quantity of the food. She even made some friends in her short stay and said she would like to go back and visit them.

I would definitely choose this home in the future if the need arose.

I arrived from hospital where I had been treated following a fall when I fractured my hip, I was poorly and unable to walk, on arrival. Here I received help and encouragement. The initial stages were difficult but with help, encouragement and determination I was enabled to walk unaided. As a results of the kindness and help of the team I am now able to return to my home which was initially deemed inadvisable.

I have been working in the Health & Social Care sector for 26 years; I started my journey when my daughter was three months old. I started working as a care assistant for 2 years. Following on from this role, I then progressed into a senior support worker. Whilst in my role as a senior, I completed my NVQs Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the care sector. After years of working as a senior, I then wanted to progress in my career and become a social worker, so I left the care sector and went to Preston University to study a three-year degree in social work. Following this, I worked in several different placement settings with a diverse range of service users with mental health needs and physical needs. I left my social work role and found myself working back in the care setting as a deputy manager, where I completed my NVQ level 5 in management. I have worked with large corporate organisations, and I have also worked in advocacy settings, charities, and within small care settings. My desire is to ensure that the people who use services are given the highest standard of care in a way that makes them feel inclusive. It is important to me that the staff I work with feel supported, empowered, and happy in their role. I will reflect, open and non-judgemental so I can learn and adapt how we all work together in the longer term.
