My 50-year-old brother has been poorly for two years now. Unfortunately, he is struggling to look after himself. I had to find a care home. I walked into Coote Lane Care Home and was overwhelmed at the staff. They made me feel so comfortable in helping choose. The building is so homely, the rooms are
amazing and the kitchen is super. Because he is still quite young to be there I was worried about how he would feel. He absolutely loves it. He has just had the best Christmas he's ever had. The staff are so flexible to his needs. He is looking so happy and less miserable (stuck unwell in a flat on his own). He's even put on weight with all the amazing food.
Reply from Kerrie Brown, Front of House at Coote Lane Residential HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write this wonderful review for Coote Lane. We are really pleased your brother enjoys his time there. It is always good for the staff to receive these reviews and we all very much appreciate it. It makes our job more worthwhile.

I've seen nothing but excellent care given at Coote Lane Residential Home. All staff know and interact with the residents. My mother loves the food that's provided and says she wouldn't want to live anywhere else and calls it home!

During the three and half years my mum was a resident at Coote Lane Residential Home, she was not only treated with respect, dignity and care but she was showered with the utmost love and attention. Nothing is too much for the carers who could anticipate her every need to make her stay as happy and
pleasant as possible.
I would not hesitate in highly recommending this care home to anyone.

My mother spent over three years in this care home. During this time she could not have received any better care than she did. The staff are absolutely amazing, the love and care that my mother received were incredible. They could not do enough for her to meet her needs. Which near the end of her life
were extensive. The dedication to the care of the resident's health and well-being is second to none, calling in external services immediately when required and liaising with the loved ones I cannot fault. They work tirelessly sometimes without any thanks or recognition for their very hard work. I really don’t think my mother could have had any more love and care than she did; she was never left alone at the end of her life, when I left her bedside to nip home, a carer always sat with her to keep her company so that she wasn’t alone and on occasions even in their own time. I cannot recommend this care home any more strongly, I definitely made the right choice.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.512)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.512) out of 10 for Coote Lane Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.687 for Coote Lane Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (106 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 150 Ratings = 4.687
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coote Lane Residential Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

I have been working in the Health & Social Care sector for 26 years; I started my journey when my daughter was three months old. I started working as a care assistant for 2 years. Following on from this role, I then progressed into a senior support worker. Whilst in my role as a senior, I completed my NVQs Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the care sector. After years of working as a senior, I then wanted to progress in my career and become a social worker, so I left the care sector and went to Preston University to study a three-year degree in social work. Following this, I worked in several different placement settings with a diverse range of service users with mental health needs and physical needs. I left my social work role and found myself working back in the care setting as a deputy manager, where I completed my NVQ level 5 in management. I have worked with large corporate organisations, and I have also worked in advocacy settings, charities, and within small care settings. My desire is to ensure that the people who use services are given the highest standard of care in a way that makes them feel inclusive. It is important to me that the staff I work with feel supported, empowered, and happy in their role. I will reflect, open and non-judgemental so I can learn and adapt how we all work together in the longer term.
