My Mum moved to Highwray mid February 2026.The care she has received has been excellent. Every staff member have been amazing, caring, patient, kind, understanding and basically good people. The management team are so helpful and approachable. Mum always looks presentable and part of a wider family,
there are far too many names to praise, but Leanne, Kelly and Katie, Theresa, sam, Sharon , Sarah and Lauren in the office, Julie x2 are all amazing, Jan and Joyce who do mums hair, they are all angels, apologies if i havent mentioned all as not sure of names, thank you so much for caring.
Reply from Sarah Hogg, Registered Manager at High WrayThank you for such amazing feedback for the care your mum receives at HighWray. I will pass on your praise to the rest of the staff and really appreciate your feedback. Mum is a pleasure and cheerful addition to the HighWray family.

My sister entered the care home due to being unable to climb stairs and losing her balance. Also losing confidence in making meals for herself.
She has found the home very comfortable with staff who look after her health. The home is very clean and she loves the variety of meals. After being on her
own for several years she is slowly adapting to a more social life.
Reply from Sarah Hogg, Registered Manager at High WrayThank you for your lovely positive feedback which I will pass onto all the staff at HighWray. I am glad your sister is adapting to life at HighWray as we understand the transition can be difficult to make. Receiving positive feedback on settling into communal life ensures we are doing the best we can for new residents.

The care my grandmother receives at HighWray is exceptional. The staff are friendly, professional and conscientious and look after the residents as they would their own families. The facilities are first class and I wouldn't want my grandmother to live anywhere else. In a nutshell I couldn't recommend
HighWray highly enough.
Reply from Sarah Hogg, Registered Manager at High WrayThank you for your lovely kind words which I will pass onto the rest of the staff at HighWray. We always strive to deliver a high standard of care in a homely, dignified manner and receiving such positive feedback is very much appreciated.

Really lovely care home that is in a beautiful setting but more importantly is a beautiful home and my mum really enjoys it. The carers are lovely but I want to make a special mention for Julie, the events coordinator. She is lovely, warm, friendly and really cares about the residents. My Mum thinks
the world of her. My mum also enjoys the company of other residents who spend time together in the lovely lounge and help make my mum feel at home.
Reply from Sarah Hogg, Registered Manager at High WrayThank you so much for your lovely, positive feedback, i will pass on to the rest of the staff especially Julie. My Aunt has been living at High Wray for some months now and we have been pleased with all aspects of her care. After an initial period of settling in, she is now very relaxed and happy. I feel confident that she is being well looked after. It is easy to get in touch with management and staff, either
in the home or by telephone. High Wray has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend it.

High Wray was recommended to us when we were looking for respite for mum in 2025.
Our first impression when we arrived was that
It's such an amazing building in a great location with beautiful gardens and views of the countryside.
The management and staff were all very friendly and welcoming and we
were really impressed with the standard of rooms and facilities.
Residents can take part in various activities provided on most days.
The home was very clean, warm and inviting.
Mum stayed for respite on two separate occasions and all went extremely well. Staff were very attentive and we knew mum would be well looked after in a very safe environment.
Due to a change in circumstances in 2026, mum needed full-time care and we had no hesitation contacting High Wray, who were able to accommodate mum, and she moved in, in January 2026.
Mum has now settled in and we can enjoy spending quality time with her at High Wray.
High Wray certainly is 5*

This is a beautiful car Home with caring staff my mum is very well looked after. I always say that this is a hotel that my mum is living in not a care home and I feel so happy that she's spending her final years in a home like this. I would recommend this care home to anybody for their loved ones, and
even if I have to go into one, I would not complain on living there

My mum moved into High Wray as a permanent resident in January 2026 . The carers are doing a great job caring for my mum and assisting with daily showering and dressing. The housekeeping staff do a great job keeping mum's room clean and tidy. All of the staff are kind and friendly with mum. There is
a large communal lounge with beautiful views. The range of activities on offer are varied. Residents can choose to join in but are under no obligation to do so. The standard of accommodation is excellent. The property is set on lovely grounds, it is spacious and well maintained and has ample parking. I would have no hesitation in recommending High Wray.

We are very grateful for the care Mum receives. The home feels calm and welcoming, and she is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Mum appears settled and comfortable, which gives us reassurance. Staff usually respond promptly and professionally to questions, and communication is clear. How staff
relate to Mum and take time to get to know her is especially important to her wellbeing. When staff talk with her about her life and experiences, she becomes more engaged and responsive, and it is clear how much compassion and understanding this brings. Being listened to helps her feel recognised, valued and emotionally comfortable. It is reassuring for Mum, and for us, when staff are clearly identifiable and approachable, as familiarity supports trust and confidence. On rare occasions, a small number of interactions have felt less warm, though this is not typical overall. The atmosphere remains calm and supportive, and we appreciate the care and commitment shown by the team.

My husband moved to High Wray late January 2025. We had a hard decision concerning home comforts versus safety.Safety won but we had no need for concern as I cannot praise High Wray enough. The Management Team are efficient, kind, helpful, always available and keep me fully informed. The Carers do
a wonderful job looking after residents, including daily showers, fresh clothes, help with mobility and transferring from bed/toilet/chair etc etc. They also interact with the residents about things they enjoy and are kind and friendly. The range of activities on offer are wide and varied. Residents can choose to join in but are under no obligation to do so. Meals are well prepared, tasty and varied. The dining room always looks lovely with table decorations sometimes made at the craft sessions. High Wray is a beautiful building. The whole establishment is kept spotlessly clean by the Housekeeping staff. Well maintained gardens and fabulous views.

Mum moved in to High Wray in Sept 2024 and had been in the home before (respite) so it was an easy decision to return as a permanent resident. She was warmly welcomed back and settled well thanks to an incredible team. Compared to other care homes I have seen the room size/en-suite facility and furniture
quality are exceptional. The view from the main lounge is beautiful and it's also quite special to have an older section to the property with a wood panelled second lounge, including a grand fireplace. Social events are organised on a fairly frequent basis and residents are encouraged to join in but not pushed to do so - individual preferences are respected. The carers, both day and night, are excellent and Mum feels very safe. Communications from the Management team are helpful and clear and I can ask what I want, when I want and will get an honest answer. After I visit Mum I walk away feeling that she is both safe and cared for and have no hesitation recommending High Wray.

My mum moved into High Wray in January, having always sworn that she would never go into a home. However, she knew I had found her a good place as my mother-in-law moved in in October!
We looked at many different homes and none of them compared favourably with High Wray. The surroundings are beautiful,
both inside and out, and all the rooms are lovely but my mum was thrilled with hers as she has a lovely view. The place is kept extremely clean and all the staff are lovely - not just pleasant but helpful and accommodating. There have been little niggles, which are inevitable, but they have all been dealt with to the best of their ability. The attitude of the management is that they want to know if something is wrong because if they don’t know, they can’t do anything about it. I think this is excellent.
I could go on but I think you get the gist. Suffice it to say that this is where my husband and I want to live when our time comes!

After visiting many care homes High Wray was recommended to us by a colleague of my daughter-in-law who is a nurse. As I was shown around I knew this was the one, I got quite emotional knowing that my mum would be happy here.
Since moving in my mum has settled in very well making new friends with other
residents and also the staff. The care and support she receives are amazing, she loves her room and enjoys the delicious food, also she looks forward to all the activities especially getting her hair and nails done every week. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend High Wray to anyone who is looking at care homes.

Thankfully a friend who had worked at High Wray previously, advised my wife and I to visit when we were assessing care homes for my elderly father. We were relieved and totally grateful to her for recommending High Wray. Previous care homes I had visited did not come anywhere near the standard set by
High Wray. The rooms are spacious and the outlook from my father’s room on the 3rd floor is a tonic itself. Looking out over the beautiful countryside from two large windows to admire the view.
The management and staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The care that is being provided for my father is first-class. My father has commented on many occasions how he thoroughly enjoys the meals provided. There are many activities to take part in, and the management and staff again organise many special events, such as the charity coffee afternoon which was a great success. Next week we look forward to the Christmas Carol Concert providing great cheer for all.

My mum has moved into High Wray, for a temporary (at least at first) period following a fall and stay in hospital. Her room is modern and spacious with lovely large windows and a nice view. She is extremely happy with the food. The whole home is clean and with lovely decor. The lounge near her room
is beautifully furnished and has a large picture window with fantastic views over towards the local town/city. The other lounge is wood-panelled and is a very relaxing place to sit. Singers have come in regularly to entertain. Care staff are all very attentive and see to all her needs in terms of washing, helping her to walk, and regular drinks. All those in the office have been equally helpful.

I have been nothing but impressed since Mum became a resident at High Wray.
She was previously a resident in a care home elsewhere, at which she became increasingly unhappy. Having now viewed other establishments, I believe that the care, facilities, catering and general conditions in High Wray are
second to none.
Mum's general demeanour has improved immensely since her arrival, which provides both comfort and reassurance.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.638)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.638) out of 10 for High Wray is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.863 for High Wray is calculated as follows: ( (113 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.863
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for High Wray is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
