As our friend is without living family members, we felt a huge responsibility to find her a suitable care home to reside in during her latter years once she had decided that she was becoming unable to look after herself in her then cottage home. After much searching, we visited Nazareth House - Lancaster
care home and were immediately most impressed with everything we found there. Our friend, who sadly died there last week, reported, in our frequent visits to Nazareth House, that she found everything to be run in a caring and helpful manner by caring and considerate staff at all times. Nazareth House staff have a really "can do" attitude to their jobs whilst projecting a family atmosphere to residents and visitors at all times. Being run by at least six nuns and having their small church, offering a daily mass, within the building seems to create a community togetherness seldom found in so many care homes. Finally, I would make the point that I have never been in a care home more like a proper home that I found at Nazareth House. So often, on entering a care home, one becomes aware of various "smells/aromas". Such is definitely not the care at Nazareth House. All in all, my verdict on Nazareth House is a resounding 10/10!

The staff are absolutely amazing. The home is very clean and the events that are put on are fantastic. The rooms are clean and tidy. The meals are good and it's nice we are allowed to join the residents for meals and events.

My grandad became a resident at Nazareth House in January 2019 until he sadly passed away in January 2021. My grandad was happy at Nazareth House, he loved all the staff and enjoyed spending time with other residents. There was often activities in the homes beautiful grounds and Grandad always spoke
of how nice the meals are.
I was concerned when Grandad needed more help than I could give and frightened of what was to come but from my first time of meeting the manager, I knew Grandad was going to be well cared for, and he was. I used to call to see Grandad at all times that fitted round my work and it was never any trouble. The staff always welcomed me. During the pandemic I was able to keep in touch with Grandad through phone calls, video calls and pictures sent by staff, they really went above and beyond. I am so grateful to Nazareth House and every single member of staff for the love and care they gave to Grandad. They treated Grandad like family and I highly recommend the place.

My mother-in-law was a resident here for nearly two years before she became ill. She was really reluctant to go into a care home as she had always had her own independence. The staff at Nazareth House made her feel at ease at transitioned her in amazingly. She loved being part of the Nazareth House
family and making new friends with the residents. They provided her with lots of fun activities to participate in. When my mother-in-law became ill we were always kept informed about any changes. We were always treated with dignity and respect. My mother-in-law's last 2 years of life have been spent in a loving, caring, nurturing, supportive and fun environment. Thank you to everyone for everything you have done. Special mention to the managers.

The staff at this care home go above and beyond to care for the residents here. My grandmother is 101 and as lovely as she is, can be rather demanding at times. The staff here understand how to deal with her. How to use humour to snap her out of those moods and to make her feel better.
She has a
laugh and a joke with everyone and is genuinely cared for. During covid, not being able to see her, we have at least been given daily reports on her welfare and are always kept up to date with any changes.
During the times when I have been able to visit, prior to the virus, the place has always had a welcoming feel to it that was lacking in other homes we visited/experienced.


I would highly recommend this home to anybody dealing with needing extra care for a loved one.

Nazareth House has been a blessing for me and my brother. We couldn't ask for more. Moving my gran halfway up the country, she was confused and at first unsettled however the staff were relentless in ensuring her happiness and moved mountains to make sure she settled. The care provided to my gran is
incredible. All staff are welcoming, friendly and make a real effort to form personable relationships with her. When ringing my gran, she often comments on how wonderful the staff are and how much she is looked after. No ask is too big! During the lockdown, I've had numerous video calls with my gran as the team has made the effort to make sure I am able to have as much contact as possible! We are so unbelievably grateful my gran is here; we wouldn't want her to be cared for anywhere else!

My grandad was in Nazareth House from March 2018 till his illness sadly got the better of him and passed away in December 2020. For me, I feel that the residents in this place are 100% cared for and I can't thank all of the staff enough. The warm feeling of happiness and trust that I felt whilst visiting
the place I can honestly say is the same love and care that each and every resident gets. I would love to say a massive thank you to the second floor which is where my grandad was. From the manager, senior carers, cleaners, cooks everyone, they have an attitude that nothing is too much trouble. Not only do the residents get treated like royalty but even the visiting guests get the same treatment. I at some point in the near future will be looking at doing a charity event to raise money for the home to help them continue with the great care you all give.
Once again thank you and I'm going to miss you all lots. God bless to you all. Lots of love.

My nan went into Nazareth House in September 2019 due to mild dementia causing her to get lost often late at night. The main thing though was her trying to get her to eat a better diet and help with personal care. Since moving into Nazareth House she has been so much happier. The element of having a
social life with a great activities programme has been so beneficial for her. The staff treat her like their own family and she in turn really likes them. Seeing how she is thriving has made the whole family feel a lot happier too and we now have nothing to worry about in regards to her safety. I can't say it enough that this place is truly beautiful.

Enrichment activities at Nazareth House are second to none with music, films, craft and visits from nursery children all frequent and regular.

An excellent care home. Mum is extremely well looked after in terms of her personal hygiene and comfort, her social life and her medical needs.
The house also caters for her religious life, which pleases her. Staff are invariably courteous, kind, caring, very professional and with an obvious care for
their residents.

My mum has been treated very professionally and with great care by everyone at Nazareth House. Since she arrived late last year, they have taken time to get to know her and treat her as an individual and with real affection. During a recent stay in hospital, her senior carer was in very regular contact
with family and with ward staff to check on her condition. When she was deemed ready for release, the Head of Care and Senior Carer were at the hospital within 15 minutes and mum was back 'home' within the hour.

I find it hard to express just how happy and grateful I am to have found such a wonderful place Mum to stay. The home itself is in a beautiful situation and the interior/bedrooms superb. Today I visited Mum in hospital (and was desperate to come back to Nazareth House). Staff from the first floor came
to assess her within ten minutes of being called by the hospital. Mum actually lit up when she saw them, and it was lovely how they seemed genuinely to love and miss Mum. The care Mum receives is second to none but done only professionally and they are also never too busy to chat, hold a hand, listen or encourage Mum, cheer her up when needed or share a joke. Mum was a professional before developing vascular dementia and very independent and bright. It is clear that Mum's carers know all about her and often ask about my family. They show real respect, even when Mum is feeling confused. Nazareth House also cares about the families of their residents and welcome phone calls and often discuss Mum's needs with us. None of the family wanted Mum to be in a home, but we genuinely thank God that she is so cherished by everyone who works there. There are many activities and sometimes entertainment or film afternoons which seem to be enjoyed by all. There is a real community feel to Nazareth House and would unreservedly recommend this wonderful home and their amazing staff to anyone. On behalf of Mum and all our family, thank you so much.

I have been visiting Nazareth House for the last 13 weeks. I found all the staff so polite and nothing was too much trouble. My auntie was so well cared for there, I felt quite relaxed in leaving her because I knew she would want for nothing. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

My aunt was admitted in a weakened state with all the inconsistent behaviour of the later stages of vascular dementia. The staff were so patient in trying to get her to eat and drink when all she did was refuse as much as possible. They coped with her professionally but also with great humanity, especially
in the last hours of her life. She died surrounded by friends, she had formed a new little family to support her. The religious sisters also provided loving care and spiritual help. The home felt nothing like an 'institution'. It felt like a real home with everyone involved and loving their work.

My mother-in-law (aged 96) enjoyed her first ever two week respite stay in a care/residential home. Her room was spacious, warm and comfortable. All staff from carers/nurses, catering, domestics, management, receptionists and the sisters were exceptional. Everybody was professional, caring, kind, cheerful
and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Although not normally one for socialising my mother-in-law did take part in activities and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
The food/menu choice was excellent and having found it difficult to gain weight in the past she did add an extra half stone during her stay. A very big thank you to everybody and would certainly not hesitate to return for respite or permanent residential care in the future if required.

My mum is a resident at Nazareth House and I could not wish for her to be better cared for. At first, mum was very worried about being there having lived independently for 89 years! The love and care she has on a daily basis have changed her mind totally and she now calls it "home". The Sisters are
always there to chat with the residents and are so caring, not just of mum but of all my family. The pastoral care is second to none. All the staff treat mum like their own family and nothing is too much trouble for them. I visited a couple of other homes before mum came here and as I've said to people since "you can feel the love when you walk through the door". I could not wish for better care for my mum and I really do think that if she had not gone there she would not be with us today.

My mum says "I'm in the best place and I'm so well cared for" and she is absolutely right. Her room is warm and cosy, kept scrupulously clean and meals are excellent.
Mum is not one for socialising much but the range of activities provided is excellent and the staff are without exception cheerful,
friendly, caring and so good at the work they do.
This home is outstanding in my view and my family are so pleased she is here.
