Following a sudden deterioration in her health and mobility my mum was sent to Oxford House for some extra care as she couldn't cope at home. That was a year ago and she is now a permanent resident. Although my mum always said she would hate being in a home, the staff have made the transition seamless.
Nothing
is too much trouble for the manager and all the staff( even to making mum something different for lunch when everyone having lamb)
It has become her home now where she feels happy and safe
The care given is second to none and all residents are full of cheery smiles when we visit.
There are activities and trips out to suit all residents
I am so glad that my mum ended up in Oxford House
Thank you to the manager and all the staff

My mum has been at Oxford House for a few months now. I have been very impressed by the professional care and kindness shown both to mum and ourselves. The manager leads a motivated team who have done everything possible to help mum settle in quickly. Any worries I had beforehand have been eased by
the excellent care mum is receiving.

One of the most heartbreaking decisions to be faced is when one realises a beloved elderly relative needs professional care beyond that which a family alone can provide. Oxford House filled that need admirably for our 104-year-old and how fortunate we were to benefit from their services for some seven
months. All the staff were compassionate, enthusiastic and caring at all times for which we shall be eternally grateful. In choosing a retirement/care home one should try to to probe beneath the obvious, every such establishment is 'only as good as the staff employed' and Oxford House has an extremely devoted, kind and patient staff which gave us great confidence and support. One of our very best decisions was to seek their assistance!

Mum was in Oxford House for a few months before passing away quite suddenly. Mum had gone there after 3 long hospital stays where no effort was made to maintain her mobility resulting in her needing 24-hour care. We have friends whose parents have been or are currently residents at Oxford House who
gave glowing reports of their loved ones' care. We found all the staff at Oxford House fabulous, and they work so hard. The quality of care given to their residents is outstanding, and they are well nourished with home-cooked food. The staff are always so friendly and really care about their residents, which is so important. There are lots of care homes that may look fancier and more modern, but we were happy to trade that for Mum to receive such a high standard of care - the decor may be a little dated, but the home is spotless, and the care outstanding.

My mother has been in Oxford House for over a year now. It was never her wish to go into a Care Home but, having reached the grand old age of 103, it became the only option for her to have the care she needed. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for everything they do, the way they look after my
mother but, more importantly, the loving kindness with which they treat the residents. They are all warm and caring people and for me, and of course my mother, it is the most important. While I will tick all the boxes below, for me the most important and most valued - loving kindness - is not listed.

Staff are always welcoming and very friendly. We can visit anytime and take my mother out. The staff monitor her medical needs and call the doctor when needed. Cannot praise them highly enough. The manager is always ready to help with any problems.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.875)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.875) out of 10 for Oxford House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Oxford House is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oxford House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
