Mum has been here for over a year now and I have nothing but praise for Team Westy. They genuinely care for each and every resident. It's always a worry, especially with covid but we have been reassured weekly of the testing and safeguards in place, Mum's safe, healthy and happy, thanks to the staff.

I cannot thank The Westy Hall angels enough for the care, love and devotion they show to my dad and all the residents. My dad has mixed dementia and is so happy in Westy Hall. The staff go above and beyond to care for him. He is always nicely washed, dressed and shaven. They take the time to make the
residents feel happy, comfortable and perform by singing, dancing and doing shows. We are always kept up to date on my dad and if there is any change in his condition. The staff and manager are amazing, they are all very approachable and experienced. Some of the staff stayed at the home last year to prevent Covid getting into the home. They made a very difficult decision between their family and the safety and care of the residents. Since moving into Westy, my dad has been very chatty and loves the girls. He is safe, secure, happy and very well looked after. It was a very hard decision to put my dad into a home but as a family, we feel my dad couldn’t be in a better safe place. Fantastic.

My nanna passed away sadly in November 2020 in hospital after being admitted under recommendation from the doctors who visited her in Westy Hall Carehome and confirmed that the care she was in receipt was inadequate. I only managed to get to see her once while she was in there in the pandemic, and during
the visit, I witnessed my Nanna being refused a drink because she had already had one that morning. When she passed, there was no communication from them other than the day after her funeral where they demanded we pick up her belongings that day otherwise they would be thrown in a garage. That was on Christmas Eve. Her belongings were treated in much the same way we suspect she was, thrown into a box, broken, any items of personal and monetary value were missing. The clothes they sent did not belong to her and were stained and unwashed. I would strongly advise that thorough research is done before letting your loved ones live out their last days in this care home.

Mum has been in Westy Hall since April this year. This was a very difficult transition from home to residential care, for both Mum and the family. It was made so much easier with the help and support of the manager and her staff. Mum is encouraged to maintain her independence whilst being supported
by staff. There is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were lucky to find Westy Hall at a very difficult time.

I find all carers and staff very friendly and efficient. They are lovely with the residents, who always look very well cared for. I can approach any staff member with a request or query knowing it will be dealt with promptly, nothing is too much trouble.

We took our time looking round care homes for mum.
We kept ending up back at Westy Hall. No other felt exactly right.
I have no regrets at all. Mum has settled well, the staff are amazing.
Everyone is cheerful, caring and very attentive.
Everywhere is bright, clean and tidy.
The garden is an added
bonus.
I have recommended Westy Hall and will again.

When Mums condition deteriorated we had to consider a care home for her. We visited many but we were drawn to Westy because they were relaxed in their approach to us visiting. I realise now that that was because they had nothing to hide. Mum's care was always consistent. The staff at Westy and I mean
ALL the staff from the manager to the caretaker have been amazing. They didn't just look after Mum they cared for her. They gave her back her dignity and her smile.

Welcoming and positive staff who openly demonstrate a passion for caring. Westy Hall and the staff demonstrate the belief that they work in the resident's home and the residents needs come first. Bright, airy rooms and lounges provide a stimulating environment for the residents. An active and challenging
programme of events and excellent choice of food delivered by smiling, friendly staff. It is a pleasure fo visit my aunt. Peace of mind for all the family to know she lives in a safe and caring community.

Both myself and my sister count our lucky stars that we found Westy Hall. After visiting numerous homes in the Warrington area, we knew as soon as we stepped through the door that this was a home from home for our dad. The carers are genuinely compassionate and caring and have always treated our dad
with dignity and respect. There is entertainment for them and a lovely garden to enjoy in the summertime. When our dad became poorly and at his 'end of life' (after many years at the home) the carers couldn't do enough for him and for us. It's so hard to find somewhere that you feel you can put your trust in, but I can honestly say Westy Hall is a gem. Thank you to everyone there. You made a very difficult time easier, knowing dad would be well looked after when he could no longer look after himself. Bless you all.

My mother-in-law was in respite care at Westy Hall, Warrington during the summer. She was looked after in the EMI Unit as she has Alzheimer's and needs specialist care. The manager and staff at Westy Hall were wonderful; they cared for her with patience, understanding and compassion. My mother-in-law
presented very challenging behaviour while she was in respite care and the staff on the EMI Unit went above and beyond their job to alleviate her anxiety and to ensure that she was safe.
Reply from Katya Lyon, Home Manager at Westy HallWe were most touched to read your moving comments. We count ourselves lucky to do the job that we do, and it's important to us that you felt reassured your mother-in-law was being well cared for during her time with us. Our household environment allows us to provide more specialist care for people with a diagnosis of dementia, and our staff are trained to use positive strategies when supporting people. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback, which I am sure will be greatly appreciated by the team.

I started to visit local care homes after my dad had had a number of falls and required full time care. I made an unannounced visit to Westy Hall and was made extremely welcome and shown around by a member of the staff. I knew before I left that this was the place where I wanted my dad to live. I have
never regretted for even a second choosing Westy Hall and consider it was mine and dad's lucky day when he moved there. The staff are wonderful and treat my dad with care and respect. There is such a warm, friendly atmosphere in Westy Hall. The manager is always approachable and I know that my dad is safe in her and her team's care. The newly refurbished gardens are lovely and we can sit outside on sunny days and have a coffee. My dad loves his food and from what he says to me he really enjoys the meals cooked for him. All in all, moving to live at Westy Hall has been a resounding success for my dad and peace of mind for me. A huge thank you to everyone who works at Westy Hall!
Reply from Katya Lyon, Home Manager at Westy HallIt has been a delight for us to have your Dad move in with us at Westy, and we are absolutely delighted to hear that he is so happy here. My father was in Westy Hall from November 2013 until he died in June 2014 and my mother went in December 2013 and is still a resident there. The care they both had, and my mum still has, is absolutely wonderful. The only reason she is in "care" is for physical reasons and couldn't be better booked after.
She
has all she needs in her room which is spotless at all times, her clothes are well laundered and her food (which she has in her room) is beautifully served with all her likes and dislikes taken into consideration. I have written this as even though she would have liked to do it herself, she cannot as she has arthritis in her hands.

My mother became a resident at Westy Hall over 2 years ago. During this time her health and appearance has improved considerably. The excellent care and support she is receiving from staff is exceptional.
The bedrooms do not have the benefit of en-suite facilities as the home is a 60's build, but
there are plenty of toilet/bathrooms etc around the home. The food and laundry are also excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others.

My nan didn't want to end up in a care home, and after a bad fall, ended up coming to Westy Care Home. Now she is here she loves it. She has come on really well while she's been here, with the help of the lovely members of staff. We are always welcomed when we come here, the staff go out of their way
for both residents and us visitors. Nan enjoys the food and the company of other residents, has some of her independence back, and is treated with dignity and respect.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.640)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.640) out of 10 for Westy Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.715 for Westy Hall is calculated as follows: ( (148 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 200 Ratings = 4.715
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westy Hall is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
