Anchor’s Widnes Hall, in Ditton, is a purpose-built home supporting up to 68 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle, as well as providing tailored dementia care. Widnes Hall continues to welcome new residents for residential and residential dementia care.

Widnes Hall is proud to be Veteran Friendly Framework accredited. The home strives to deliver a range of residential care services, including convalescence care, respite care, trial stays and long-term care for those who can no longer look after themselves.

The home's care team gets to know customers and works with them to organise stimulating activities which match individual and group interests, both in the care home as well as in the local community.

Each customer’s individual needs are regularly assessed to ensure their care plans meet their lifestyle requirements. Meals are cooked fresh and from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible by highly trained chefs and kitchen staff.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people.

My friend lives in Widnes Hall and she is very happy living there, she loves taking part in all the activities in the home and she loves all of the staff who take very good care of her. The food looks lovely and she tells me that it is great.

The message on arrival concerning testing for Covid was poor and inconsistent. Cleanliness in the rooms could be better, old decaying flowers and vases left in rooms. Absolutely no evidence of any activities for residents, just left to sit around.

Upon arrival for our visit, it turned out that there was a miscommunication regarding the Covid tests. This can happen and is no big deal. However, two employees ended up going back and forth between us and the manageress' office to clarify what needed to be done. I was very surprised that the manageress
did not have the decency to come out herself to clarify the situation. I would consider that part of basic customer service. The lack of such does not bode well for the service the residents receive, nor is it a good way to lead by example.

Widnes Hall is welcoming and friendly to all visitors. My grandmother resides there, I know she is happy and well cared for, she is safe and well looked after. Staff inform us of any changes or concerns. I am happy with the care provided and reassured she is safe and looks healthier since being there.

I just can't speak too highly of Widnes Hall. My mother has been a resident for the past year, and the care and kindness she receives from every member of staff is just incredible. I had cared for her myself prior to this, and was a little apprehensive of her leaving me - I shouldn't have worried. I
know she is in a safe and loving environment. She is cared for, and it really is one big loving family. I can only hope when I need care there is somewhere like Widnes Hall around.

Overall Widnes Hall is a lovely homely place. Residents' rooms are a good size each with their own private toilet/shower room. The residents are well looked after. The current COVID situation is extremely difficult for everyone, staff, residents and family. Everyone is doing their best in these strange
circumstances although I know my mum is becoming increasingly worried she won't ever be able to go out of the home or that I won't be able to visit her in her room. I'd really like to be able to go into her room to help her sort things out.

I can't give an updated review, not been in the home due to covid19. As a family, we are upset that the garden area has not been maintained and that residents have not been in the garden when the weather allows.

During this Covid crisis, the staff have been amazing and I cannot fault them, however, I feel communication has been very poor from Anchor as a company. I feel updates, eg newsletters are vital and also, what measures will be put in place to see our family when the weather does not allow garden visits?
Also, why can't we form a bubble as I fear for my mum's physical health but her mental health too - I know people have to be safe but if another spike happens we won't see our loved ones. Please give me your feedback on this.

Extremely committed staff, nothing is too much trouble. All residents' families are made welcome and part of a big family. All efforts are made to make residents comfortable and are treated as if they were their own family members. I can't praise them enough.

Of all the homes me and my family visited, we ticked all the boxes for Widnes Hall. For the location, the running of the home by staff. They are very friendly, helpful and they are always so caring to everyone. If I needed special care, I would not hesitate to choose this home.

Although my brother-in-law has a number of medical and communication difficulties, the care team allocated to him have done their utmost to manage his challenges and make his time at the Home comfortable. They have had to learn his personal language through perseverance and good humour, in order to
provide him with the best possible care. The support they provide is essential to his well being. Their role is at number one, of those that I could not do. I am full of admiration and gratitude for their contribution.

My cousin has been a resident in this dementia unit for 6 years and the atmosphere in the home is really good. They go to a lot of trouble to change the decorations according to the time of year and the staff know the needs of my cousin without us asking. If we ever have a question to be answered the

No care home is perfect. It can't be like being at home, but Widnes Hall was by far the best place we visited when we were making one of the most difficult decisions of our lives. Our Mum has dementia which is very challenging, but she is cared for with dignity and respect by lovely staff. We have
had odd issues since Mum moved in 18 months ago but the manager is approachable and treats all our concerns with an open ear and has done her best to resolve our worries. We are very happy with the care Mum has. I congratulate Widnes hall on its ongoing efforts.

My mum lives in the residential part and is extremely happy in her new home.
She is at ease with all the carers and partakes in all the activities and trips. Mum seems to be well-liked and I couldn't wish for better care.
The staff are always welcoming and attentive to any requests I have and I don't
have any concerns.
Well done Widnes Hall and thank you for making Mum so welcome when she arrived and continuing to do so.

Reception is modern and up to date, but the communal rooms and bedrooms on the upper floor, from our experience, are looking 'tired' and in need of updating (upgrading).
Overall we have been very pleased with the care my mother in law has received from the day staff, who are caring and professional.
The only issues that have arisen have been during the night staff shifts.
