Mum has been a resident of Widnes Hall for 20 months now and we are very happy with the care she has received and the support we as a family have had too. We have found all the staff caring, professional and family friendly!

My cousin has been a resident in this dementia unit for 6 years and the atmosphere in the home is really good. They go to a lot of trouble to change the decorations according to the time of year and the staff know the needs of my cousin without us asking. If we ever have a question to be answered the manager is always ready to help.

No care home is perfect. It can't be like being at home, but Widnes Hall was by far the best place we visited when we were making one of the most difficult decisions of our lives. Our Mum has dementia which is very challenging, but she is cared for with dignity and respect by lovely staff. We have had odd issues since Mum moved in 18 months ago but the manager is approachable and treats all our concerns with an open ear and has done her best to resolve our worries. We are very happy with the care Mum has. I congratulate Widnes hall on its ongoing efforts.

My mum lives in the residential part and is extremely happy in her new home.
She is at ease with all the carers and partakes in all the activities and trips. Mum seems to be well-liked and I couldn't wish for better care.
The staff are always welcoming and attentive to any requests I have and I don't have any concerns.

Well done Widnes Hall and thank you for making Mum so welcome when she arrived and continuing to do so.

Reception is modern and up to date, but the communal rooms and bedrooms on the upper floor, from our experience, are looking 'tired' and in need of updating (upgrading).

Overall we have been very pleased with the care my mother in law has received from the day staff, who are caring and professional. The only issues that have arisen have been during the night staff shifts.

Reply from Carrie Browne, District Manager at Widnes Hall

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Widnes Hall and we are pleased that you are extremely likely to recommend our home. We will shortly be commencing redecorating in the home. We regularly review our staffing to ensure that this meets the needs of our residents.

This is the first time I have had anything to do with a care home and I can honestly say Widnes Hall is just like being part of a huge happy family.

The management, staff are great, nothing too much trouble. I have seen first hand how the staff look after the residents. I am extremely grateful with the care my husband gets.

My Mum lived in the upper residential unit for 14 months until her death on 27/2/2018. The unit was led by 2 wonderful team leaders who went way beyond the call of duty to ensure Mum's comfort. The care Mum received was excellent, she was treated with such compassion and dignity by all staff we encountered. During the last 2 weeks of Mum's life, I met the night staff, who were also incredibly kind and caring. As relatives, it was a very traumatic time watching deterioration. It was made much more tolerable by the kindness and compassion from all staff members from management, carers housekeeping and laundry staff not just to Mum but to us as well. I would recommend Widnes Hall to anybody and wish to thank you all once again.

Since my mother arrived at Widnes Hall her welfare has been looked after completely. The staff are caring and attentive and nothing is too much trouble for her and visitors.

It has given us peace of mind to know she is in the best place and being cared for. Her room is kept clean and tidy and meals are varied and good.

Overall running of the nursing home we find really good. Just we wish there were more staff on the upstairs residential side. Due to my husband being permanently wheelchair bound and needing to go to the toilet often. If carers are busy he's having to wait a while.

My mother-in-law stayed in Widnes Hall for respite and she could not have received better care. The care home was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very welcoming. The staff were fantastic; they gave us regular updates and showed great patience and understanding. I have no hesitation in recommending Widnes Hall and hope that my mother-in-law will be able to receive respite care there in the future.

My husband was really well looked after both physically and mentally and the staff were excellent in every way. Nothing was too much effort for them. They were always professional and caring and always had time for their patients and their families. I am sorry that his needs changed and had to be transferred to a different care home. I would like to thank everyone at Widnes Hall.

It's a warm and friendly environment - just like home for residents. I did a lot of research when my father required dementia care and Widnes Hall was my preferred choice in the area. The management and staff are great and treat residents with dignity and respect. Some areas are looking a little 'tired' and require decoration/new furniture but this is only a minor point, it is the standard of care that counts.

I always enjoy visiting my mother, all the staff are so friendly. They made my mother feel right at home straight away and she always seems so happy. Last week it was my mother's birthday, the staff held a birthday party and also gave a gift from the home. We were able to invite all family and friends. It was a lovely day that we will always remember.

Widnes Hall is well run and looked after. You only have to ask for something and it's done. All the staff from the managers to the staff on the individual sections have the residents needs at their foremost concern.

I can only say thank you for the top staff you have in place there.
