Nightingale is a purpose-built home, designed to combine luxury living with excellent care and support, including for EMI residents.

The home is situated in Ecclesfield, Sheffield, a stone’s throw from shops, local amenities and public transport and is easily reached by bus from the city centre. It’s proximity to the M1, makes it easily accessible from both the North and South of the country.
        
Nightingale is a spacious and stylish Care Home, registered with the Quality Care Commission to accommodate forty residents in thirty eight bedrooms. The majority boast en-suite facilities and all are fully equipped with telephone and television points, vanity basins, central heating and a high-tech nurse call system.
        
Elegant, well appointed dining room and plush, comfortable lounge overlook the charming landscaped gardens and lush, green playing fields beyond. The beautiful grounds outside are perfect for enjoying the fresh air and delightful, picturesque surroundings. Residents are also welcome to take advantage of several sitting areas, a quiet lounge, hairdressing salon, large passenger lift, a number of assisted and unassisted bathrooms and off- street parking with level access.

Nightingale is famous for the gourmet meals prepared by the chef every day. The appetising, tasty and nutritious menu at Nightingale provides residents with a healthy and varied diet. Specific dietary requirements and residents’ preferences are catered for. Meals are served in lovely dining room but residents can dine in their own rooms if they wish.

My mum joined Nightingale Care Home several years ago as an emergency admission. On that day, the manager dropped everything and drove over to my mum's house (which is miles away) to meet my mum and arrange the admission so that my mum would be safe. That should give you an idea of the ethos that underlies
everything about this Care Home. All the staff go way above and beyond to put the needs of the residents first. There are always activities going on that people can interact with (or not!) as they choose. Staff are always laughing and chatting with residents and visitors alike. Whenever I visit, I am always welcomed like one of the family and it's great that my small dog can come along and be fussed by the residents and staff. The Home has always kept me well informed and up to date with anything to do with my mum's care. I cannot recommend this Home enough and I am so glad that my mum ended up at Nightingale. The place and staff have been a Godsend.

My mum has been very happy since she has been living at Nightingale care home. The staff are very caring, helpful and efficient and nothing is too much trouble for them. My mum is well looked after and is healthier and happier now than she was before she went there as she now has lots of company and
stimulation due to the activities there. The staff are very caring towards her and keep her safe and happy and consider all her needs.

I cannot thank the management and staff enough for what they do for my mum. All the staff care and it shows; they are very attentive to all residents in their care. I have no doubt that my mum wouldn't be around if she wasn't in the Nightingale. The activities they do are amazing; the lady does a fantastic
job and keeps their spirits up. I have no worries or concerns about my mum when she is here. I would definitely recommend this care home; they are amazing. Well done to the manager and her team.

Our Mum moved into Nightingale in December 2019 after almost a year on the waiting list, we received regular calls whenever a room became available whilst we waited, until we could no longer meet her increasing needs due Alzheimer's Dementia. Mum settled in remarkably quickly and we were encouraged
to visit whenever we wanted and for as long as we liked. After only ten weeks in her new home, Covid-19 hit but despite these extraordinary circumstances, Mum has remained happy, healthy and thrived even, despite being unable to see her family for long periods of time and that is entirely due to the outstanding dedication and commitment of the entire team at the very worst of times. We have no hesitation in saying that in our opinion, Nightingale is that special place that families like us seek for their loved one, a true home from home, with people who genuinely care.

I had to make the decision to place my mum who has alzheimers into a care home due to being unable to look after herself in her own home even though she had carers 3 times a day.
Since she has been a resident at Nightingale she is now much healthier and happier than she was in her own home. She
is well looked after and is much better that she has been for a number of years.
The staff and all very caring and helpful and I am able to rest knowing the she is being well looked after is safe and secure.

Our mum is cared for with compassion, dignity and respect from all members of staff and her well being has improved immensely. We have experienced second to none communication from management and all staff throughout and we feel this demonstrates good leadership and teamwork within the home. Nightingale
has a strong feeling of community spirit and inclusion for all residents. The well-planned activities are extremely good and very person-centred with many choices available and has proved to be a positive outcome for our mum. We always experience staff as very welcoming when visiting mum and so caring with all the residents. The food is very good and varied which has improved mums appetite much to our delight. Overall our mum is happy, settled and always smiling which is a testament to the care she receives and this makes us very happy. We as a family have no hesitation in recommending Nightingale for your loved one.

Our father became a resident in Nightingale following my mother's passing and after a decline in his health. He was living there for just over 15 months until his passing in December. In that time, dad was well looked after, and after some time to adjust, he settled in well. He was reluctant to leave
his room but over time, with support and encouragement from the team of staff, he started to socialise with the staff and some of the residents. Dad came out of his shell and reverted back to the dad we remember, a friendly, cheeky dad.
All of this is thanks to the staff at Nightingale, they, in turn, became part of dads family. We can't thank the staff enough for their help, support and hard work looking after not only our dad but the other residents too. They all do an amazing job. We would be more than happy to recommend Nightingale to anyone needing care.

Since Mum moved in her overall health has improved, she has gained weight and is looking much better.


The carers and management take the time to get to know each resident well and always find time to chat or engage in activities with them. The carers treat the residents with dignity and love and

Mum always appears well cared for. There are lots of activities and outings arranged for the residents and their health is well looked after by the doctor/chiropodist etc.

I feel my mother-in-law is looked after and cared for very well. The staff are very friendly and obliging, nothing is ever too much for them. The care home itself is very clean and tidy.

I feel really happy that my mother is in Nightingale care home. She is really cared for by the staff that are true carers and really do care. The staff know all individuals very well, they are consistent (not always having, new staff members) which I feel works very well for my mother and others support
needs. Nothing is ever too much for the staff and management they are all approachable and always willing to listen and help. Because my mother is cared for really well I feel relaxed I enjoy my visits to see my mother. I cannot praise the care home or staff enough for looking after my mother well.

The care and compassion shown to residents by all staff are second to none. Staff take the time and trouble to really get to know the residents and are attentive to their individual needs. They treat residents with dignity and respect and do their very best to engage them in conversation and the many
diverse activities on offer. There is a strong sense of community at Nightingale. As well as the friendliness of the staff, the atmosphere and decor give a sense of a family home rather than a care home. Visitors are made to feel welcome at any time of day. No matter how busy staff are, they always make time to talk to family members and address any concerns they may have. The home always appears well staffed, and I feel confident about Mum's safety. Mum's dietary needs are well catered for, and she always looks smart and well cared for. The communal areas and Mum's room are always spotless. Overall I am delighted with the care received by Mum.

Julie Wright

Job Title: Care Manager

Nightingale is run by our super efficient, wonderfully compassionate Home Manager, Julie Wright, who has joined Nightingale to lead it in its quest for excellence in all areas.


Our outstanding care team are also dedicated and highly qualified; all have completed NVQ levels 2 or 3.


We insist on a high standard of care, so our employees are carefully selected for their qualities of reliability, integrity, skill, friendliness and professionalism. Full induction training is provided and continuing professional development is undertaken by each member of staff. Attentive and compassionate carers are available twenty-four hours a day. The high staff-resident ratio enables us to provide companionship and stimulation, as well as tending to the residents’ physical needs.


In addition to the Care staff, Nightingale also employs an administrator, expert cook, domestic staff, catering and a maintenance person.
