We transferred my mother in law here last year. We chose the home as it contrasted so much with the home she was sent by the hospital. The contrast was amazing. Summerfield Residential Home felt immediately welcoming, as if you are walking into a person's home. The residents all appear happy and the
staff are everything you could hope for. The rooms are comfortable and most have great views of the garden or the valley. But it's the staff that make all the difference, they welcomed my mother in law like a long awaited guest, they say chatting with her in the dining room for a while, laughing and getting to know each other. When she fell ill and needed to go to hospital, they made sure she wasn't alone and accompanied her to be with her, even swapping over from each other as they helped her settle in. When we couldn't be there, they were, it was all very natural and very reassuring. When she passed, the compassion, assurance and help she received was above and beyond. I cannot recommend Summerfield enough

My dad moved into Summerfield Residential Home in August 2024 and it's been lovely to see how quickly he has settled in and how much he enjoys living there. Summerfield has such a lovely family atmosphere and is maintained to a very high standard. All of the staff are extremely professional, hard-working,
kind and caring.
It's certainly an exceptional care home, with such a fun friendly atmosphere, lots of enjoyable activities and entertainment on offer and the food served is to a very high standard, even down to supporting my Dad's specific dietary requirements.
I'm so grateful to all of the staff for all they do and for going above and beyond with all aspects of his care.

I came out of the hospital thinking that I could manage at home on my own but found it impossible. So I came to Summerfield Residental Home for respite care. The home was very welcoming and everyone greeted me with a smile. All of the staff are extremely pleasant and very hardworking. The care and consideration
of every resident is paramount. I've really enjoyed my stay at Summerfield and would love the chance to stay again.

Mum has been a resident since June 2024 and has settled very well. We chose Summerfield because it was medium sized which suits Mum's dementia limitations and the decision was made within 5 minutes of meeting the staff. All staff are friendly, approachable and caring. There is always something happening,
keeping residents stimulated with games, music, Bingo etc. We definitely made the correct choice.

My wife was looked after in Summerfield care home for the last 12 months of her life. She was well cared for by all the members of staff, I have to say that the staff looked after me too. I found it hard losing my beloved wife of 57 years, but the care from the staff has extended to me. I am lucky to
have found Summerfield and have been returning weekly for lunch and hugs since her passing. All the staff have become friends and I could never thank them enough.

My mother has only been at Summerfield for a short time but the care and understanding have been second to none.
Every member of staff I have met is lovely and caring and treats all residents as family. Mum loves the food which is made on-site and is all fresh and varied.

I chose Summerfield 20 months ago for my dad and have not regretted that decision. Summerfield has a warm, friendly, welcoming family atmosphere. All the staff, carers, domestic assistants, cooks etc are caring and have made the effort to get to know Dad. Despite well-publicised difficulties in this
sector, there is a relatively low turnover which speaks volumes.
Attention is constantly paid to updating facilities and decor, eg this year a new wet room to replace the old bathroom, new dining chairs and decor.
If there is a problem it is quickly rectified. Overall Dad is happy and settled, likes the staff and is well cared for.

I visited a number of care homes before visiting Summerfield and none of them matched up to the friendly welcome, the comfortable environment and the accommodating, experienced staff I found there. I knew instantly that Mother would be well cared for and would settle in well - Mother has been there
5 months now and I was right, the staff have got to know her well, she has a lovely room and thoroughly enjoys 'people watching' as she calls it. She even joins in some of the activities which is a great relief to us as she had lost all interest, I put this down to staff encouragement. One important thing for us is being kept informed of how mum has been throughout the day and the staff always have a tale to tell when we visit, be it mum refusing a shower (she really dislikes them) or a funny comment she may have made. It's the little things like that that put our minds at ease, that shows us that mum can be herself and she feels safe and looked after.

Dad lived at Summerfield residential home in Silsden for just under a year before his death in July 2024.
He settled into his new surroundings very quickly and became part of the Summerfield family. He felt secure and happy in his new home and the standard of care and companionship was absolutely superb.
Dad
suffered from severe dementia but was encouraged to join in with the various activities in the home and also enjoyed occasional trips to local amenities outside. The staff are all so helpful and most of them have been employed there for many years.
I would recommend Summerfield to any family who needs a caring home to look after a loved one.

Summerfield Care Home is a very friendly place with lots of staff milling around constantly. Mum first arrived in June 2024 and settled very well. If I have any issues or questions, I feel at ease to ask staff and they always try to sort things out. Mum is still quite mobile (compared to other residents)
and has been out on a couple of day trips, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The gardens and surrounding outdoor areas are beautiful and residents are able to sit comfortably in sun or shaded areas. There is also plenty of parking, making it less stressful to go and visit. I'm very happy with my choice of care for Mum.

My mother chose Summerfield from a number of care homes which we visited together. She settled extremely well (better than I would have expected). She likes her room because she can see lots of comings and goings and everyone waves to her. The staff take time to chat with her which she really appreciates.
She enjoys the food and socialising with others at meal times. She chooses not to get involved in activities which often look interesting to me!

My grandad has been a resident on respite for several weeks, and during that time, I can not fault the care he has received in any way. The staff have been fantastic with him, and his wife has been allowed to stay on occasion to be with him.
I would recommend this home without having to think twice

Reviewed several care homes before moved Mum, who has Dementia into Summerfield Residential Home.
The care and support all the staff have given her has been truly wonderful, her needs have been addressed promptly and she is very settled into her new home.
She is treated with dignity and respect from
the friendly staff and is kept engaged with the many activities offered such as dancing, singing and crafts which is lovely to see.
The environment is safe, very homely, clean and well equipped throughout. Meals and drinks are exceptional.
We visit weekly and are always welcomed and kept up to date with Mum’s progress
Very happy with our decision to move Mum into Summerfield and would recommend to anyone looking for an excellent care home for their loved one.

I researched and visited many homes before deciding on Summerfield in Silsden. I am so glad that my friend was able to have her last six months on earth here. The staff / managers listened to her needs (she was difficult). All the staff took time to understand her quirky ways and she settled in well.
Alzheimer's came on very quickly and she thought she was buying the place. Thank you all for taking care of her for me. I could sleep better at night knowing that she was safe.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.786)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.786) out of 10 for Summerfield Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.786 for Summerfield Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (318 Excellents x 5) + (82 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 402 Ratings = 4.786
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Summerfield Residential Home is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
