Dad entered Headingley Hall in February 2023, having previously lived in Barnsley. We moved him up to Leeds as both his sons & family live here, myself living 10 minutes walk away. Dad had dementia & severe hearing loss & mobility issues.

In his first 12 months at Headingley Hall he was able to enjoy

the lovely outdoor spaces & he had his own patio area, as he always enjoyed the sunlight. He was popular with residents & staff, who all really loved him.

As his dementia progressed he spent more time in his room, but was still enjoying the activities in the lounge on his better days. The care team did a great job managing his increased needs & worked well with Adult Social Care & his GP to make sure he was getting the best care possible.

Sadly Dad passed away in January 2026 of dementia, in hospital. I can only thank all the team at Headingley Hall for everything they did for my Dad in the twilight of his life. He is hugely missed not just by us, but by the dedicated staff.

I have found all the staff to be welcoming, caring, patient and efficient. I feel my mother was well loved and all her needs were catered for.
The home also embraced the whole family and we always felt part of a large, loving family, always warmly welcomed.
There were always knowledgeable staff available
to reassure us if we had concerns or questions and we were always treated with great respect.

My mum moved into Headingley Hall December 2022, just as the dementia unit now called Shire Oak was opening. We chose HH due to the very friendly warm atmosphere that made us feel our mum would be very happy there. She was. She moved out in November 2025 due to financial reasons only
The staff were
all very caring and took time to get to know my mum, her likes and dislikes, what she liked to do. Nothing ever seemed too much for the staff to do.
I found the manager and deputy manager very approachable and would listen to any ideas I had as well as answer any concerns I had about my mum. The reception staff were welcoming.
I have always spoken very highly about staff and everything at Headingley Hall, always recommending that it is a home that should be looked at when considering a care home.

My sister and I are delighted with the care, comfort, welcome and services provided for residents and visitors alike. The common areas and gardens are beautiful and well-maintained and the staff always stop to greet residents there, as well as checking on them frequently if they are in their rooms.
Communication with family is efficient and quick and the admin/managment team is clearly very effective, while the are staff are patient and kind. There is a wide range of activities and trips as well as birthday celebrations. I am looking forward to visiting my mother there over Christmas.

My husband spent 5 days in respite just before Xmas. It was a very difficult decision for myself to let him go but during a visit I was reassured by how friendly, welcoming and understanding the staff were. First impressions were very good. Headingley Hall is spotlessly clean, with a warm, inviting
atmosphere. The staff couldn't have been any nicer and after visiting several care homes, this was by far the nicest. If my husband needs respite in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to let him stay there again.

My brother who has Parkinson's and a learning disability was exceptionally well cared for during his five months stay at Headingley Hall.
The staff were exceptionally caring and certainly went the extra mile to accommodate his needs.
When he left the home his health had improved considerably, because
of all the staffs care and expertise.

My mother went into Headingley Hall just over 4 years ago. She loved it there as she knew she was safe and was looked after 24 hours a day. The staff were amazing and my mum loved them all and the staff loved my mum.
They all went above and beyond for her care and I am so gratefull to all the staff.

My mum aged 91 never wanted to go into a care home and until August 2025 we managed to keep her living independently. After a number of falls mum went into Headingley Hall for 6 weeks respite care and the care she received was second to none it resulted in us deciding she would become a permanent resident. When
we first visited the thing I noticed was the warm welcome from reception staff and also the fact it smelt clean and fresh, not of urine (something I have noticed in other homes). The staff are all very professional and treated the residents with respect helping them to maintain dignity at all times.
The meals are cooked on the premises with a choice of menu, there is a daily entertainment programme and three lounge areas where residents and family can sit overlooking the lovely gardens with outdoor seating for warmer weather.
Mum had a lovely ground floor room, kept spotless by the housekeeping team.
I can recommend Headingley Hall to any family needing a care home for a loved one

I had to make the difficult decision to find a care home for my dad six months ago, and was really worried about how he'd settle in and how well he'd be looked after. Six months in, it's like a huge weight has been lifted and I can be a daughter again, rather than a carer. I know my dad is safe and
well looked after - he's always clean and smartly dressed. The staff are lovely - I chose Headingley Hall partly because so many of the staff have worked there for a long time and they really do seem to care about the wellbeing of their residents. There are daily activities - dad really enjoys the singing and cinema trips. Communication with the home is excellent - I enjoy getting the weekly updates, and if the staff have any concerns they contact me straight away. They've taken the time to get to know dad as a person and accommodate his interests. The food is fantastic and served in a lovely communal dining room. Whenever I go to visit I always feel welcome - it was the right move for us.

After arriving from hospital on the 2nd Nov, I didn't know what to expect, never having had respite care in the past. I needn't have worried since I was treated with the utmost respect and compassion by all of the staff, residents and those like myself receiving treatment. Headingley Hall is a beautiful
building, and I knew it generally receives an outstanding rating, and rightly so; I would have no qualms of returning at some late date.

The care and compassion shown to my wife by every member of the Headingley Hall care family has been second to none. The friendliness and acceptance of all the residents is a real joy to behold. I visit almost daily and I can see that every resident is regarded as an individual. They are spoken to,
listened to and cared for in a way that would be difficult to match within any other care organisation. I chose this care home through reputation which has always been second to none.

The dementia team took over seamlessly when I was no longer able to care of my wife at home. Their dedication and care in a challenging environment goes beyond a star rating. What is pleasing is the extra provision of activities and stimulation which extends the boundaries beyond the confines of the
dementia suite.

Our mother was resident in Headingly Hall for 4 yrs. She went for 2 weeks respite care but settled in so well and was so happy, we made her a permanent resident. Prior to Mum's stay we spoke to other relatives, who told us how good the care was and how happy their relative was living there. Mum embraced
life to the full in Headingly Hall, she participated in all the events and activities, she particularly enjoyed the music, crafts, bingo, dancing events, and trips to the theatre. She was loved and cared for by all the staff, including catering and admin staff and along with care staff, they became like a second family to her. When we visited her we were welcomed warmly by staff, who cared about us as well as Mum. In Mum's last days she was cared for at Headingly Hall and we were supported wonderfully as we stayed at her side. Staff brought us drinks, meals and kind words, supporting us as well as Mum. We cannot thank the manager and the team enough for everything they did for Mum and for us

Mum stayed a Headingley Hall for the first time for a brief respite stay. We found Headingley Hall an excellent all round residential care facility with a fabulous Team of conscientious hard working staff who couldn't do enough for Mum. The daily activities are a stand out feature and whilst Mum was
only there a few days she enjoyed them. Mum is booked for a longer stay of respite later in the year (4 weeks) and we look forward to seeing Mum participating in what we are sure will be a wonderful month of events. These are important as they stimulate all residents who take part, engage and encourage interaction which, for the residents, is wonderful to see. Well done to the whole Team and we thank you for your hard work, dedication and care to all residents as well as our Mum.

I have found Headingley Hall care home to be excellent in many ways. There is ample parking and the grounds are attractive and well kept. It is secure with a good signing in and out procedure and I always receive a warm welcome from the reception desk. The carers are committed and I see their presence
in both the lounge and dining area. They are constantly ensuring that the residents are comfortable and give feedback to visitors. The senior staff communicate well with me and there are follow up calls to ensure that I am aware of any issues.
The meals are varied and of a good quality. They will provide small meals and snacks at a moments notice when asked. The rooms are light and airy and the facilities are clean and hygienic. I have recommended the care home to friends and colleagues.

My mother has been a resident since May 2023 in the dementia unit at Headingley Hall. This small friendly unit became her home and we became her family again instead of her full-time carers. The staff are professional, supportive and friendly with no restriction on visiting times. The entertainment
and stimulation are excellent for people living with dementia.
My mother returned to Headingley Hall in March 2024 after a 2-week stay in the hospital. The staff have gone above and beyond to settle her back into the Home with her increased care needs.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Manager, Headingley Hall Care Home Joined: 2010

I started working in care 24 years ago when I was 16 years old as a weekend job whilst studying for my A-levels.

I progressed into working with elderly adults with learning difficulties and led a group of young adults with Down Syndrome to work within the care industry themselves, supporting them with a career in catering and social care.

I left that role to attend University in Leeds, where I studied Interdisciplinary English Literature and History.

After a brief stint working in finance, I made a decision to return to care and remain in Leeds, and before I knew it, I gained a job at Headingley Hall 14 years ago and have never looked back.

I started as a night care assistant before progressing into a Senior Carer role. This made me realise that this was my chosen profession. Seeing the difference I could make in someone's life by ensuring their health and well-being were as supported as possible gave me satisfaction.

I discovered a keen taste for liaising and providing support to all health professionals who visited Headingley Hall. By working alongside the health professionals and gaining their knowledge and experience, I was able to review our service users with a holistic approach and ensure care remained person-centred.

Since then, I progressed to the Deputy Manager role at Headingley Hall and completed my Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

My learning continues every day, and I continue to love the challenges each day throws at me. I am excited about the opportunity to lead as Interim Manager, and I hope my future continues to progress within the care sector.
