I would highly recommend Simon Marks to anyone. My mother has been there a few times now for respite to give me a break, and I truly do not have any complaints whatsoever. The rooms are fabulous, and the staff are very friendly and caring They go out of their way to make everyone feel wanted and safe.
When we had a medical emergency, they dealt with it very quickly and efficiently. Thanks to all there.

Can't fault anything at Simon Marks. The staff have been incredible and so patient with my mum, who can often be very grumpy with them. They are always friendly, and helpful and feel like they genuinely care so much about the residents. They have also been very supportive of me since my mum went there
and keep me informed of everything. The home is clean and welcoming whenever you visit and love the fact that they have visitors to the home to entertain the residents. Every staff member I've met has been excellent and I know my mum is receiving the best care she could get. Other family members have all said the same. So glad my mum was placed here.

One off the hardest things I have had to do was admit that I could no longer care for my mother-in-law. Even with the carers helping 2x daily, she wasn't eating, personal care was only when we reminded her and she was so lonely her dementia was getting worse and it was a constant worry when she was
left alone.
Then the best thing was finding Simon Marks Court, the staff are always friendly, smiling and treat residents with dignity and respect. There is laughter and that patient listening ear when needed.
My mother-in-law has now new friends (staff members), she laughs and jokes with them, she is eating, helped with personal care, safe, so well cared for and not lonely anymore. Yes she has her off days, don't we all, but it's soon forgotten and yes, her dementia is getting worse but she is in the best place and I am so grateful for all they do and also for making me so welcome on my visits.

Dad went into respite, the second day he had a fall, followed by nightly falls, I had to get a flight home early. He became a resident, Dad deteriorated quickly, followed by a traumatic and upsetting death on 29th October at 3 am. Following Dad's death, we have had no contact from the home to offer
condolences which I would have thought would be a matter of courtesy from management following the death of a resident. The care team, including agency staff, were very caring, as was the admin lady. Happy to discuss.
Reply from Sharon Buckland, Manager at Simon Marks CourtThank you for taking the time to review Simon Marks Court and we are pleased that you rate our care/support as very good. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our team, which I will pass on to them. We apologise that we have not always met our usual high standards and please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your father. I have received separate correspondence from you, which I will respond to directly and I am available to discuss the issues raised at a mutually convenient time.

My uncle went for a week of respite care - he absolutely loved the staff and residents and all the wonderful things that they did. One lady has been so wonderful at organizing everything for him and paying such detailed attention to his needs and wants. I think he just loved that people were happy to
talk to him and were so attentive. Thank you!

Always greeted by friendly staff. The building is kept very clean and has a great atmosphere. The decor is excellent - very creative building a bar, wallpapering the walls to create a street image and outside house and salon. All management and staff are very helpful and committed to their jobs. My
sister-in-law has been helped a lot with her illness and anxiety, and also she has been encouraged to join in activities. I am impressed with the whole place.

My mum recently passed away, and I just wanted to thank the staff at Simon Marks Court for the care, love and dignity they have shown my mother during the past three years. They contacted me every time my mum had a fall or had an episode. Each member had the patience for my mum's toilet needs, which
were considerable. Plus, the lady doing the accounts was so friendly and knowledgeable about procedures; it made the process of dealing with the council and care packages so much easier. Thank you to all the care staff.

It is always evident when we watch the interaction between the staff members and my mum, that there is a warmth and connection between them. This is very reassuring as we can tell that she is well cared for and feels comfortable and secure.
I felt hat I am informed if there is an issue with mum and
that any concerns I express are acted upon. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident at Simon Marks Court for about fifteen months. She is extremely well cared for and I have complete peace of mind. The staff are unfailingly friendly, efficient and thorough. They genuinely care for the residents and this attitude extends from the management down. My impression
has remained the same since I first turned up unannounced to view the home.

Our Mum moved into Simon Marks Court over two years ago. I live a long distance away and cannot visit often, so it is such a comfort to know that Mum is safe and is living with people who know her well, who care about her and who are kind-hearted. This has been even more important in recent months.
The staff understand her ways and are endlessly patient - taking time to sit with her and to encourage her singing. I am always made very welcome when I do visit - and the staff are good at keeping in touch with the family by phone or email - so we always know what is going on with Mum. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Simon Marks Court is a friendly and caring place to live.

I cannot recommend highly enough the wonderful care my mother received during her stay at your home. My mum had every need taken care of and was treated with respect and dignity at all times. The communication between myself and my son from the staff was constant and totally reliable and I always knew
my mother was in the best of care.
Sadly my mother passed away on the 14th of May and during her final two weeks, I was always kept informed of any changes in her condition with kindness and consideration. My mum was 92 and sadly suffered from advanced dementia for the last 5 years and knowing she was in the safe and caring hands of all the staff at Simon Marks Court made things much easier for myself and my son to cope with her condition.
Thank you for everything.

The home had a lovely homely feel to it and a really nice atmosphere. The staff were really kind, thoughtful and caring and they did everything they could to make my mum's stay as comfortable as possible. They also showed great kindness to my siblings and I during this very difficult and emotional time.
They went above and beyond what we expected from them. I would highly recommend this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.606)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.606) out of 10 for Simon Marks Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.756 for Simon Marks Court is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 176 Ratings = 4.756
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Simon Marks Court is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
