The home has undergone a full refurbishment in the recent years and now has a residential unit with large lounge area, access to the garden area, dedicated activity space and its own hairdressers. Upstairs is a specialised dementia unit with a sensory garden in the grounds of the home.
The last section of the home is the palliative/end of life care part, which is complete with large bright rooms, facilities for families to stay overnight, a kitchenette area and a family lounge area perfect for the full family to visit.
It aims to be more than just a standard care facility as it strives to make each resident's home a place where they can retain independence, personal freedom and live out their lives with enjoyment and fulfilment.
The staff have many years of experience providing care to older people in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, where all services are designed to ensure that care home residents are happy and that individual care needs are met. Care workers treat all residents as they would wish to be treated themselves and believe that while old age, dementia or confusion might mean they can no longer live alone, it should not mean any loss of privacy, dignity or respect.
Priory Care accept private clients as well as local authority-funded clients, and welcomes day care visitors and those who have short-term respite needs.

I have been treated really well with dignity and respect. Since I have been here seven weeks. It is my first time in a care home and although I was worried and apprehensive at first, I think I have settled in. I like having my hair and nails done as well.
I have become a bit more independent since I arrived and although I need a walking frame I am managing to move around on my own.

Mother has been resident here for nine months. The first six months she has not been able to go out into the garden due to extensive building works and has been disturbed by the noise of the works. However, these now have finished and the home now is very comfortable and beautifully decorated and welcoming. The staff are very caring having time for each resident. Mother is upstairs in the dementia area, where on occasion staff have to deal with upset and sometimes aggressive residents. I have witnessed staff coping professionally and very caringly under pressure in these circumstances. Looking after all residents individually is their priority.
I visit regularly five or six days a week.

My Mother had been suffering from a number of chronic conditions including End Stage COPD, which meant she was on a Roller Coaster of hospital admissions, discharges and home care. With each hospital admission, she came home having lost weight to the point of being malnourished, fallen (3 in total) and had more skin tears. The time came for her to go into The Priory where she died quite suddenly in the end. However, in that time she was so well cared for that, the difference was obvious just looking at her. After visiting and seeing how things were initially I had to return overseas and continued to communicate by phone, we rang sometimes late at night due to the time difference and it was never any trouble, each staff member was informative and helpful and always gave the phone to my mother to have a chat. It was very reassuring being so far away knowing she was getting such excellent care.

I would visit the care home 2/3 times per week. During this time I met most members of staff. The service given to my friend was caring, efficient and most of all they all made her feel special. Whenever she required medical assistance we were kept fully up to date. Due to the staff and management at Priory Care Residential Home, her last few months were made wonderful for her. I can't praise the place enough from the kitchen staff to management and everyone in between.

Having taken over the care home in October 2015 the new owners and team are making great inroads in turning this home into a very safe and caring environment. The substantial building programme has been a bit messy but you can see what the end results will be, although the previous interim management and carers did their best under very difficult circumstances.
Having visited my mum most days until her sadly passing away in April 2016, I have had a first hand view of all the improvements that are being made, and not once have I had any concerns about the care my mum and for that matter the other residents received while I was visiting.
