White Rose Lodge Care Home is a wonderful home offering residential, respite and day services in a beautiful seaside location.

All the bedrooms are decorated to the individual’s choice and all rooms have en-suite facilities, several of which benefit from having their own patio area with the majority having sea views. The home encourages their residents to bring with them ornaments, photos and small items of furniture to personalise their room.

White Rose Lodge has a large open plan dining room leading onto a small conservatory, a library with stunning views across Bridlington, a bar area, lounge and an on-site hairdressing salon. A summer house is located in picturesque gardens offering fantastic seaside views and is very popular with residents, families and friends for socialising in the summer months.

At White Rose Lodge, they encourage residents to maintain their independence making decisions on their day-to-day lives. The home regularly has meetings for residents to decide on the type of activities they would like to see in the home, sharing ideas on preferred locations for trips out. White Rose Lodge also hold regular coffee mornings and events to which the local community are always welcome.

Residents at White Rose Lodge are the main inspiration behind their dining experience. They cook following recipes that they choose every Wednesday. A very nice place that appears to be like a hotel. The gardens and seaside attracted us (could do with more outside seating though.) A lot of the homes we viewed had very little, or no outside space and residents were not encouraged to go outside. Very sad.

White Rose Lodge is clean, comfortable and caring. Having worked in care myself I have been a long time looking and researching for my brother-in-law. I now know I have found the right place for him to have respite care.

Warm welcome by manager, pleasant staff who showed me to my room and explained procedures. Atmosphere bright and decoration of inside light and attractive. Excellent health check for medical details taken by senior carer who immediately arranged for District Nurse to examine my injured toe which had
occurred just before I went to the home. Antibiotics prescribed and obtained by home. Senior carer advised leg elevated till the pain was gone. Staff frequently came into my room to see if they could help in any way. Genuinely desiring to make my respite stay enjoyable. Food was interesting and appetizing. Quiet library with sea view and cliff walk. Lounge for activities varying from entertainment from outside to Religious service on Friday for those wishing to participate. All positive.

Care at White Rose Lodge is excellent. Without exception, carers are patient, friendly, caring and loving. They treat mum like the most important person in the world whilst they are with her. Food all seems good and varied, importantly mum is frequently encouraged to drink more. The activity program
is good. Mum enjoys bingo. Everywhere is clean and warm. Staff are open to suggestions - after I asked that she is not left in bed with nothing to do, she has always been left with newspaper and magazines. Wifi could be better.

Mum has been to White Rose Lodge on numerous occasions over approx the last 6/7 years for respite care. The management have always been obliging and helpful in arranging her stay, choice of room (if more than one is available) and always made her very welcome as does every other member of the team.
She always looks forward to her "holidays" there. Everyone is pleasant and talks when they see you and usually have a little time to make conversation with you. Overall a very nice place to be in your late life. The coffee morning in August was excellent and very well organised.

We had one week's holiday (respite) for me and my wife who suffers from Parkinson's Disease.
The beds were ok but basic as was the shower.
Once we learned the routine, great holiday.

People were very helpful and friendly, I would go again. Staff at White Rose Lodge were very welcoming.
Throughout my stay, I felt very well looked after, I had a lovely room overlooking the garden and staff were regularly calling in to see if I wanted any help. There were many visitors from outside
providing services. I really enjoyed my evening Horlicks.

The buzzer system is appalling. Mine has been repaired twice and still faulty.
I fell in the bathroom one night and was laid on the floor until the nurse did her routine round. The buzzer would not work.

Mum settled in well at White Rose Lodge. She made many friends and the staff were very friendly and supportive. We were always made welcome when we visited mum and always found it clean and tidy. They have a lovely restaurant, and in the lounge, activities daily where residents get together and socialise.
It was heartwarming to see mum so settled. We knew then we had made the right decision to move mum to WRL and we highly recommend it.

My mother was welcomed very warmly by all the carer's, staff and management upon leaving hospital. The care she is receiving is first class and has had a very positive effect on her wellbeing. All the staff have a caring and positive attitude which shines through in their interactions with the residents,
family members and visitors. My mother only has praise for the care she is receiving and the homely environment. She has thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and the quality of the meals she has had. The staff understand the needs of the residents and have supported her in regaining her mobility and independence.
At a very traumatic time for the family, the management support and information made available helped us make sure that the right decision was made. We are delighted that the home is making a real difference to mum's day to day living and wellbeing.

My parents stayed at White Rose Lodge for a weeks respite. As soon as you walk into this home, you sense what a wonderful, special place this is.
The staff are AMAZING. They are caring, encouraging and supportive, happy in their work and very welcoming to residents and us as family. Nothing is too
much trouble for them.
My parents had a lovely sea view room with doors leading out into the beautiful garden. The food was excellent. The activities provided for residents are interesting and varied and staff encourage residents to take part.
At the end of the week, my parents didn't want to leave. My dad was very emotional as he left. This shows the impact the staff had had on him during his stay and what a fabulous place this is.
Thank you to everyone for helping my dad create some special memories.

My mum and dad have been coming to Bridlington on holiday for a considerable time. Recently dad became seriously ill and in order to have a holiday needed to be in a place that would provide special care. White Rose Lodge was the perfect choice to meet his needs for a weeks respite/holiday.
The manager
of the home went out of his way to accommodate my mum and dad. Communication prior to their stay was excellent.
Their room was beautifully decorated, with direct access to the garden and summerhouse, with sea views.
The quality and choice of food was excellent.
Visitors have been made exceptionally welcome.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for residents and their families. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Activities are provided three times a day and are stimulating and interesting.
We would not hesitate to recommend this home to others and hope that mum and dad will be able to return in the future.
Thank you to everyone for making their stay so enjoyable.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.164)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.164) out of 10 for White Rose Lodge Retirement Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.775 for White Rose Lodge Retirement Home is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.775
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.389 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for White Rose Lodge Retirement Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.789
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
