White Rose Lodge Care Home is a wonderful home offering residential, respite and day services in a beautiful seaside location.

All the bedrooms are decorated to the individual’s choice and all rooms have en-suite facilities, several of which benefit from having their own patio area with the majority having sea views. The home encourages their residents to bring with them ornaments, photos and small items of furniture to personalise their room.

White Rose Lodge has a large open plan dining room leading onto a small conservatory, a library with stunning views across Bridlington, a bar area, lounge and an on-site hairdressing salon. A summer house is located in picturesque gardens offering fantastic seaside views and is very popular with residents, families and friends for socialising in the summer months.

At White Rose Lodge, they encourage residents to maintain their independence making decisions on their day-to-day lives. The home regularly has meetings for residents to decide on the type of activities they would like to see in the home, sharing ideas on preferred locations for trips out. White Rose Lodge also hold regular coffee mornings and events to which the local community are always welcome.

Residents at White Rose Lodge are the main inspiration behind their dining experience. They cook following recipes that they choose every Wednesday. When residents sit down to enjoy the food they have chosen they are treated to a restaurant experience including three course meals and a weekly special.

From the first day my mum went to White Rose Lodge I can honestly say that the staff went out of their way to make my mum feel settled, at home and cared for. I noticed the difference in my mum almost immediately as she was quite depressed before going into the home and within days she was much brighter
and cheerful. The home provides excellent facilities, food, activities and a sense of belonging. When talking about White Rose my mum who is 90 talks about the "hotel".
After six weeks, my mum is still very happy there and I honestly can't say a bad word about the home or the staff who care for my mum.
I wouldn't complain if I ended up there myself!
Reply from Manager at White Rose Lodge Retirement Home

It is our pleasure, to look after your mum and we would like to say thank you for the kind words. We do enjoy our work and our time spent at White Rose Lodge and we hope the same goes for the residents.

My mother went to White Rose Lodge for respite care in October 2021 and decided to stay as a permanent resident. She soon settled in and is very happy there, her health has also improved. The staff are very kind, caring and patient and always make time to chat to her. I would have no hesitation in recommending
this care home which truly is first class.

Mum has been a resident at White Rose Lodge for 9 months and has settled in very well. She enjoys joining in with daily activities. All staff are very caring and approachable, answering any questions promptly. This is the best care home she has been in.

At first, the staff appeared to be caring and lovely but as time went by this did not continue, he ended up bedridden with no stimulation. My father is now in another home and is thriving and the staff cannot do enough for him.
Reply from Kerri Smith, RM at White Rose Lodge Retirement Home

Thank you for submitting your feedback. We are very saddened and disappointed to discover that you and your father feel you did not receive the standard of care we strive for each day at White Rose Lodge before he moved out in September 2021 and for this, we sincerely apologise. Having reviewed our records we can see your father had complex care needs and the home followed the advice of external healthcare professionals in delivering the required level of support and intervention. We have reviewed our historical complaints and have not found any complaint raised by you whilst your father resided at White Rose Lodge – had you done so we would have investigated your concerns and taken any corrective actions should they have been identified. We hope your father has settled well into his new home.

Prior to placement at White Rose Lodge, we had a very negative experience of respite care following discharge from hospital. It was so bad that it warranted an adult safeguarding referral and also contacting CQC who were to follow up. Our faith in social care was restored by White Rose Lodge. They treated
my mum with respect and dignity which she deserved. Excellent.

It's very hard to put into words the care and love my mum had in the year she was with you. At the end of her life, we could go in any time and in Mum's last few days we could go in anytime. One time, at the very end, we went in three times a day and a staff member was always with her holding her hand,
singing to her. It gave us great comfort and I can't thank all the staff enough. Mum passed on the 16th February 2022, she was 101 years old. Thank you so much.

My parents are happy here. They are well looked after and most of their needs are met. I can visit any day I choose so this fits in well with my busy lifestyle. I enjoy my visits and my parents do too (I think!). I would certainly recommend White Rose Lodge to others.

I was in for two weeks, my husband stayed for almost three years. He was happy there and I loved my visits there. Now he needs more nursing care as his Parkinson's progresses. The staff were kind and caring. The food was great and the handyman was a man of many talents, keeping the building looking
good and cared for. Overall, it was a good experience. I hope his new place will be as good - one can hope. Thank you.

I was a resident completely independent and in isolation at White Rose Lodge for two weeks following my discharge from hospital having been treated for Covid. I, therefore, am not in a position to tick some of the ratings asked due to my isolation. My taste was impaired so difficult to comment on the
food. I felt the evening meal was far too early at 4.15 pm.

From our first visit to our last White Rose wasn’t just a care home, it’s a family and it’s the work and dedication of all the staff that make that family. For this, our family will be forever grateful for making Mum's stay the best she could have had.

I have found that the care that my husband gets is second to none and when I ask him if he is happy in the home he always says yes. He looks well looked after and he is always clean and his clothes are washed daily and hung up in his wardrobe. I do find that he falls asleep often when I am there but
he is calm.

We booked my mother into White Rose Lodge for one week's respite care. She was welcomed politely and with dignity - not over effusive which she would have hated - but warmly! The staff tried to make my mother as at home and comfortable as they could, addressing all questions to her - not about or over
her! Initially, she was quite resistant to staying as it was her first experience of any care home as she still lives in her own home. However, the staff managed to make her start to integrate as the week progressed. My mother has since reported that "all the people were lovely" and the food was "outstanding". She has now requested a return visit! I cannot praise White Rose Lodge highly enough for their care, patience and dignified treatment of my mother who is not the easiest lady to please. The entire building was clean and welcoming and the staff superb. Thank you for making my mother's stay such a positive experience despite her difficult start.

The staff are all so kind and caring and nothing is ever too much trouble especially when I call up at odd times asking questions. During lockdown, I felt confident we were kept updated on care and kept interaction going by video call. I am told the food is lovely most of the time.

Thanks for helping the resident recover after several falls at home. The resident's legs have healed well and they appreciate the care in creaming her legs on a regular basis. Mentally, she is in a much better place.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.164)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.164) out of 10 for White Rose Lodge Retirement Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.775 for White Rose Lodge Retirement Home is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.775
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.389 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for White Rose Lodge Retirement Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.789
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
