Reviews

9.6 The Olde Coach House has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.641)

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for The Olde Coach House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 26 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Olde Coach House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.641 for The Olde Coach House is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 309 Ratings = 4.641

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Olde Coach House is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 6.6 positive Reviews (33 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 18 Reviews ÷ 6.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mum has received excellent care since she became a resident at The Olde Coach House. All her care needs are met with kindness by the wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff to ensure my mum is comfortable at all times. The meals are excellent and the staff always communicate with me in a timely manner if any changes arise in my mum's condition. Thank you Coach House.

My sister-in-law has been in this care home for 3 months. I think the staff are very kind and helpful, I was worried about having to put her into care but she has settled very well. Whenever I visit, it is always very clean and tidy and there are always one or two members of staff around and they are always willing to help.

My sister has been in The Olde Coach House for 3 years now and it's the best care she can possibly have. I was recently in a care home for 3 months and there was no comparison. I wish I could have been in The Olde Coach House.

My mum has been in The Olde Coach House for two and a half years. She has had a massive stroke and is very disabled so her needs are pretty complicated and greater than those residents who are ambulant. Overall, we are very pleased with the care she is receiving. The home is brilliantly located in central Hessle so her friends can visit her. They are always welcomed and The Olde Coach House staff make sure mum looks her best when going out on visits and meeting up with her Heddle community. Sadly mum is slowly deteriorating but her end of life care is efficiently dispensed with dignity, sensitivity and wonderful sense of humour. Thank you.

Prior to my Step Mum being admitted, I have viewed several care homes. This one had been recommended by a friend whose mother had been in there. My first reaction was that it was a friendly homely place, where residents seemed content. Since admittance, I have found all staff and management most helpful through a difficult time. They have been kind, considerate and caring. This has helped her to settle in quickly, which comforts me to know she is safe and happy. The care and regular meals have, in my opinion, improved her overall health. Her key worker has taken on her particular requirements to ensure her well being. Thank you to staff and management.

My Mam has been a resident of The Olde Coach House for nearly 4 1/2 years now and we, as a family, have always been completely satisfied with the care she has received there. The staff are friendly and attentive and treat all the residents with dignity. The home itself is kept immaculately clean. The information we receive is always good. My Mam always seems content when we visit her. I would be happy to recommend The Olde Coach House to anyone looking for care for an elderly parent or relative.

I do recommend The Olde Coach House. It is very well looked after, very clean and the meals and staff are very nice, very kind and caring. As I know, with my Mum being in there, they also give me my hot lunch, when I go and visit her on a Thursday and it really is very nice.

My mother had a life changing stroke two and a half years ago. We looked at several care homes in the Hessle area. We chose The Olde Coach House for its excellent location in the centre of the village It's management and staff and recommendation of others. We have not been disappointed. There is low staff turnover and the standard of care is excellent, particularly as mum's needs have become more demanding with time.

My mother has been in The Olde Coach House for over two years after suffering a stroke. I have found the staff to be excellent in dealing with, at times, a difficult resident who has struggled with her loss of independence. Appropriate equipment has been purchased to enable her to be as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. Her weight has increased. The personal touches of putting her makeup on have made all the difference. Good communication from the management. Staff all helpful and manage their workload with humour and professional.

Staff are very helpful and caring - my mum seems happy and settled, she has been at Coach House for 9 months. Admin and liaison with each other room for improvement. Had issues with hospital appointments, staff telling us different accounts. Feel strongly about having to pay for incontinence pads, letter dated last February regarding this matter and still funding them.

Laura Bismor, Manager at The Olde Coach House responded to this review on 27 Jun 2017:

Thank you for your review so happy to hear you find the home and staff caring as that is our main objective.

I just wanted to let you know and hopefully clear the incontinence pads issue up, the letter regarding this was this February 2017. This unfortunately is an NHS issue as we have to wait for incontinence nurse to visit the home which is out of our control when and how often this happens. Your mum is definitely on her list for when she comes.

Next time you are in the home you can chat with a manager or Senior where you think we can improve in regards to the Admin and liaising as we always happy to hear comments.

Warm and comfortable.
Friendly staff.

Mum was always treated with great care and dignity at The Olde Coach House. Although we would both sometimes be upset when I had to leave her at times, I was always confident she would be comforted and very well looked after by the lovely staff. I would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

My mother was treated with such care and dignity. Everything about The Olde Coach House was first class. From the domestic staff to manager.
We as a family cannot find fault at all. All the rooms were so clean and well decorated. They made the family feel welcomed as soon you went to visit and always a ver good tea and coffee set out on a tray nothing was too much trouble for them.

My mum is 94 years old and blind. After a spell in hospital, mum went into the Old Coach House for 2 weeks respite care. The staff were brilliant with mum and were attentive to her needs, very helpful and extremely patient with her. Their dedication, enthusiasm and hard work is a credit to them and I can't praise them enough for how they looked after her. My mum is now back at home and thanks to all the team gaining confkaroo.idence and independence once more. A truly lovely bunch of people.

My gran has been a resident of the Olde Coach House for two and half years. I chose the home for my gran after meeting the management team and reviewing the level of service my gran expected to receive. My gran had dementia. At no point has the care home smelt unpleasant, has always been spotlessly clean and we have always been made to feel welcome when visiting. My gran thoroughly enjoyed the home made food and cakes!
My gran always looked well cared for including visits from the hairdresser and chiropodist, always had clean clothes on and even on occasions had her nails painted.
My gran passed away last month at the home, she was 92 and I was extremely touched with the level of support the home offered to us - constantly bringing us refreshments to keep us going during the three days we were there.
I cannot recommend this care home highly enough and the staff need to know that they were highly thought of and their work was very much appreciated. Thank you

A lovely well presented care home with staff from management to carers to kitchen staff, everybody, polite, friendly and more than helpful. Relatives are well cared for- meals are varied and appetizing. Outings are planned (to community centers) for those residents who are able to go and various activities, quizzes etc.. go on at the home and are enjoyed by residents and family members who can join in. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

My mother who suffered dementia was released from hospital following a urinary tract infection. She was unable to go home to her carers and was admitted to another Nursing Home as no place has available at The Old Coach House. The manager rang me to say they could make a room available in their dementia wing. They arranged the collection of my mother and dealt directly with her GP.
In the short time she was at the home, they rang me on a daily basis, as I lived in Essex, to update me on her health. When I and my family visited I was given access at any time, and made to feel part of a family. The care she received was excellent and even up to her death there was a staff member sitting with her when I arrived. The home kept me fully advised at all times.

After visiting a number of care homes I decided The Coach House at Hessle met all the criteria I was seeking. Bright, happy caring environment, friendly staff, cleanliness own room en-suite and home cooked food. My aunt reached the age of 100 thanks to the loving care and compassion shown to her by all the staff. I myself was treated with the utmost kindness, the staff always approachable and having time to talk about my aunt. I was so pleased I had found such a well managed and efficiently run care home.

My family and I are more than happy with the care my mother is getting at The Old Coach House. She has been there for 2 years having been moved there from a previous care home, and although she is very fragile through old age (102) next month) the care and attention she's has received has been second to none. My family and I feel really relieved and grateful for the care and attention she is receiving.
