Ladysmith Care Home is a purpose built 90 bed care facility. It is owned and operated by Knights Care Ltd, a family run business that has been in the care industry for many years.

Ladysmith Care Home provides residential care and dementia care, as well as respite care which can provide much needed relief for those caring for a family member at home.

Residents enjoy 24-hour care from the friendly and experienced staff who strive to meet the needs and wishes of every individual in a person-centred manner. Everyone benefits from state of the art facilities.

Ladysmith Care Home has been carefully designed. The facilities are high quality and based on the latest research into care for elderly people to offer a warm and inviting place to live at an affordable price. The reception area is a welcoming environment with a receptionist and two members of staff situated in an office so there is always someone to meet, greet and assist guests, relatives and residents as they move around the home.

They have a main lounge on the ground floor which is a large open social area allowing opportunity for social gatherings, in-house activities, live music and entertainment. The seating is arranged in a manner which encourages interaction, whilst maintaining opportunity for privacy. They have a variety of smaller lounges on each floor giving the building a homely feel, where small functions, quiet time and small group activities can be undertaken.

The wider corridors allow wheelchair and walking frame users to get around easily. The four dining areas focus on nutrition, another prospect for socialisation and a time to share good food. Residents and visitors can access drinks and light snacks from the kitchenettes that are situated in each dining area. All ground floor lounges and dining areas open up to the attractive enclosed gardens which include walkways, garden furniture and a summer house for sunny days.

My mother-in-law has been in Ladysmith Care Home now, for three years and nothing is too much trouble. From the manager to cleaners, kitchen and carers, they all play a part in this lovely home from home.

What I have seen at Ladysmith Care Home is that the staff are so caring, always there for the residents. Nothing is too much trouble, treat everyone with dignity and respect.
The food is amazing, all cooked fresh, you only have to ask if mother-in-law would like something different and they will get
it no trouble. The home itself always looks immaculate and smells fresh. All the staff and management do a wonderful job.

Mother is very happy with her accommodation, care and food. She moved a year ago from a very pleasant residential home in North Yorkshire and was welcomed at Ladysmith as if she had always been there. She settled quickly.
I find the staff excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Any issues have been
sorted quickly and fully.

My mother has been a resident in Ladysmith Care Home for about 18 months. She has gained weight and looks healthier than she has for years. She has made friends and loves all the activities.
The staff are friendly and caring, they make sure she is comfortable and look after all her needs. She cannot
stand or do much for herself, so the carers do nearly everything for her. I know if any day I cannot get there, she is looked after.

I visit the home 6 times a week with few exceptions, and our son who works away visits the other day. I have been visiting for over 2.5 years. Visits have occurred at all times of the day. There is a great, cheerful atmosphere and it does not seem to change whatever the time of day. What is really significant
is that over those 2.5 years the staff have hardly changed!

From our first visit, we found everyone at Ladysmith to be caring, compassionate and totally professional at all times. We are very grateful for the way Mum has been looked after through her time here. The staff must have dreaded us visiting with the constant barrage of questions but we all found that
nothing at all was too much trouble for them. We were given little notice to decide between a number of care placements but from the very first visit had no doubt at all that we had made the right choice. The manner in which all of the staff went out of their way to get to know Mum and ensure that her needs were met gave the family much comfort and was very much appreciated by the family. The team at Ladysmith are a credit to the care home, and to Knightscare in general and worthy of their 'Top 20' ranking of all care homes in the region. We would have no hesitation at all in offering recommendation on the facilities, staff and care provided by Ladysmith and Knightscare.

My mum was not safe at home anymore, we always said she would never go in a home until we found this little gem. They made Mam very welcome, even to the point of wallpapering her room so it was home from home. I would recommend the home to anyone.

My mum came in from her home from living alone. Carers have been so lovely and caring and understanding. The staff go out of their way to help my mum. Go above and beyond for anyone. There is no better home that I could recommend.

After viewing quite a few care homes I decided on Ladysmith and am very pleased I did. The staff and management treat you as a member of a very large family. The care provided is second to none and nothing is too much trouble. There is always something going on take part in if you wish and also something
to eat and drink it's a wonder everyone isn't overweight! When you enter the building it doesn't look or smell like a lot of others I viewed and there is always a member of staff with a cheery greeting. Well done to all concerned keep up the great work.

I have been very happy with the care and cleanliness of the care home, everybody shows dignity and support whichever needed. Every day running of Ladysmith is 100% at all times from management and all staff.

Both my sister and my partner have spent the last few years of their lives being cared for and loved by the care staff and others connected. All I can say is that everything was done to help the patients be as happy as possible. For myself, I would have no hesitation to ask for a place when the time
comes that I can no longer look after myself. It is a great place!

This home offers a caring and warm experience. The managerial staff are well organised, helpful and obliging, appreciating the clients and family needs. The carers are happy and efficient. The home has regular visits from the district nursing team based next door. The staff generally have given long
service, a marker of the good conditions.

If ever a care home was a 'home from home' then it has to be the Ladysmith Care Home. This is down to the staff who are wonderful. From seeing to my mum's care needs to the squeeze of her hand to a kiss and a cuddle. This gives me peace of mind knowing my mum is well cared for and happy. Mum also loves
the food.

My mum stayed at Ladysmith for about 10 months where she, unfortunately, passed away but the care she had there was amazing. The staff there are so kind and caring and so compassionate, they are dedicated to what they do. I would recommend Ladysmith to anybody.

My mother entered Ladysmith Care Home in early October. She has dementia and the difference between her entering the care home and now is remarkable. She is very happy and settled and her care that she has received is excellent and the staff are all very very helpful.


We have been reassured by the

fact we know that she is happy and well cared for we live some distance away and have a disabled adult to care for so mums care is very important to our family.

Ladysmith Care Home always has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The door to dad's room is always open and the carers are always popping in to make sure he is OK. It doesn't matter how busy the managers are they always make time for a chat or to answer any questions. I have found the communication is
excellent, particularly when discussing dad's medical needs. The record keeping is always up to date and regularly filled in. Management also care about their staff and use positive praise to motivate them. In comparison to other care homes I have visited, Ladysmith is really good and I have every confidence that they are looking after my dad extremely well. Dad is also very happy there.

Carol Woodliffe has 26 years of experience in the care industry, and 13 years at the management level. This experience has armed her qualifications including NVQ Levels 2,3 & 4 in Health & Social Care; QCF Level 2 (Management structure) in Dementia care, Mental Capacity Assessment, End of Life Care, Person Centred Care Planning and Medication management. All this training has underpinned skills and extensive knowledge in the care industry, specifically older people.


Carol has utilised the rationale for good person-centred practice by honing excellent people skills, a professional approach and versatility. She is a self-motivated individual with a commitment to high standards of quality care provision. She focuses on sharing her ethos of ‘resident first and foremost’ with staff in her employ ensuring a driven, compassionate and empathetic team continues to evolve positively.

Debbie Macleod started working at Ladysmith as a cook when the care home was first built in 2011. Debbie had worked in the care industry for a few years before this but decided she wanted a change in direction. After a year of working as the care home’s cook Debbie decided to go back into the role of a carer and after two years became a senior, as Debbie’s confidence and skills grew, she was able to move on to become lead senior before taking on the role as care manager.

Deana Wharton previously worked in the hairdressing industry for 20 years and for the last 7 years as the assistant manager of a hair salon in which she carried out all administration duties. Vivienne Clarke

Vivienne joined Ladysmith Care Home working as a cook in October 2018. She has over 25 years’ experience working in the care industry working her way up from carer to level 4 and registered manager. However, on reaching her 60’s she wanted to return to a more hands on role and having catering experience (Home baking cottage industry) she enjoys meeting the needs of the residents and working as part of an excellent team. She also has teaching and training qualifications allowing her to deliver in house moving and handling sessions and would like to develop this role if there is scope within the home.
