My father was a resident of Ladysmith Care Home for nearly two years. In all that time he was provided with the care and support we as a family could no longer give. He was treated with respect and dignity by caring and professional staff with a good dose of humour too. I have experience of other local care homes that don't even come close to providing the care my father received. We as a family were always welcomed on our visits particularly my mother.

My mother was admitted to this home for recuperation after a hospital stay. On her return to her own home, she asked to be re-admitted as a full resident to the home. We took her to see other homes but she wanted to go back to Ladysmith. As soon as you walk through the door at Ladysmith, you sense that this is truly a loving, caring place. My mother was very happy in the home for the last two and a half years of her life. I cannot recommend the home too highly, especially the very friendly and smiling staff.

I would and have recommended this home to anyone wanting dementia care. The staff are very welcoming to visitors and as I visit at different times, I can honestly say I have never seen or heard staff treat the residents with anything but kindness and respect. If a problem has arisen, I have been notified and sorted immediately. I fell completely at ease knowing my mum is safe and well cared for in every way. Not an easy task as I know how volatile and frustrating dealing with dementia is.

What I have seen at Ladysmith Care Home is that the staff are so caring, always there for the residents. Nothing is too much trouble, treat everyone with dignity and respect.

The food is amazing, all cooked fresh, you only have to ask if mother-in-law would like something different and they will get it no trouble. The home itself always looks immaculate and smells fresh. All the staff and management do a wonderful job.

Mother is very happy with her accommodation, care and food. She moved a year ago from a very pleasant residential home in North Yorkshire and was welcomed at Ladysmith as if she had always been there. She settled quickly.

I find the staff excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Any issues have been sorted quickly and fully.

My mother has been a resident in Ladysmith Care Home for about 18 months. She has gained weight and looks healthier than she has for years. She has made friends and loves all the activities.

The staff are friendly and caring, they make sure she is comfortable and look after all her needs. She cannot stand or do much for herself, so the carers do nearly everything for her. I know if any day I cannot get there, she is looked after.

I visit the home 6 times a week with few exceptions, and our son who works away visits the other day. I have been visiting for over 2.5 years. Visits have occurred at all times of the day. There is a great, cheerful atmosphere and it does not seem to change whatever the time of day. What is really significant is that over those 2.5 years the staff have hardly changed!

Overall Experience

From our first visit, we found everyone at Ladysmith to be caring, compassionate and totally professional at all times. We are very grateful for the way Mum has been looked after through her time here. The staff must have dreaded us visiting with the constant barrage of questions but we all found that nothing at all was too much trouble for them. We were given little notice to decide between a number of care placements but from the very first visit had no doubt at all that we had made the right choice. The manner in which all of the staff went out of their way to get to know Mum and ensure that her needs were met gave the family much comfort and was very much appreciated by the family. The team at Ladysmith are a credit to the care home, and to Knightscare in general and worthy of their 'Top 20' ranking of all care homes in the region. We would have no hesitation at all in offering recommendation on the facilities, staff and care provided by Ladysmith and Knightscare.

My mum was not safe at home anymore, we always said she would never go in a home until we found this little gem. They made Mam very welcome, even to the point of wallpapering her room so it was home from home. I would recommend the home to anyone.

My mum came in from her home from living alone. Carers have been so lovely and caring and understanding. The staff go out of their way to help my mum. Go above and beyond for anyone. There is no better home that I could recommend.

After viewing quite a few care homes I decided on Ladysmith and am very pleased I did. The staff and management treat you as a member of a very large family. The care provided is second to none and nothing is too much trouble. There is always something going on take part in if you wish and also something to eat and drink it's a wonder everyone isn't overweight! When you enter the building it doesn't look or smell like a lot of others I viewed and there is always a member of staff with a cheery greeting. Well done to all concerned keep up the great work.

Both my sister and my partner have spent the last few years of their lives being cared for and loved by the care staff and others connected. All I can say is that everything was done to help the patients be as happy as possible. For myself, I would have no hesitation to ask for a place when the time comes that I can no longer look after myself. It is a great place!

This home offers a caring and warm experience. The managerial staff are well organised, helpful and obliging, appreciating the clients and family needs. The carers are happy and efficient. The home has regular visits from the district nursing team based next door. The staff generally have given long service, a marker of the good conditions.
