If ever a care home was a 'home from home' then it has to be the Ladysmith Care Home. This is down to the staff who are wonderful. From seeing to my mum's care needs to the squeeze of her hand to a kiss and a cuddle. This gives me peace of mind knowing my mum is well cared for and happy. Mum also loves the food.

My mum stayed at Ladysmith for about 10 months where she, unfortunately, passed away but the care she had there was amazing. The staff there are so kind and caring and so compassionate, they are dedicated to what they do. I would recommend Ladysmith to anybody.

My mother entered Ladysmith Care Home in early October. She has dementia and the difference between her entering the care home and now is remarkable. She is very happy and settled and her care that she has received is excellent and the staff are all very very helpful.

We have been reassured by the fact we know that she is happy and well cared for we live some distance away and have a disabled adult to care for so mums care is very important to our family.

Ladysmith Care Home always has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The door to dad's room is always open and the carers are always popping in to make sure he is OK. It doesn't matter how busy the managers are they always make time for a chat or to answer any questions. I have found the communication is excellent, particularly when discussing dad's medical needs. The record keeping is always up to date and regularly filled in. Management also care about their staff and use positive praise to motivate them. In comparison to other care homes I have visited, Ladysmith is really good and I have every confidence that they are looking after my dad extremely well. Dad is also very happy there.

I have had a great stay here after my unfortunate misfortune. The staff have been marvellous and also the food. I was also given chances to go in and out because I was just a guest. This was prepared by a housing association.

The care of my father-in-law was exemplary and the staff not only cared for him in a compassionate professional way but went over and beyond in their care.
At the very end, in his closing hours, he was treated with a loving and caring way with help towards the whole family.

We could not thank them enough!

Breakfast is excellent.
The lunch is very good and could always get extra portions.
Tea not very good poor choice.
The sandwiches were often dry lacking filling, not appetising, cups of tea not always drinkable.

Suggestion - Have a hot water urn and tea bags/coffee and let the residents decide how they want it.

I have been to seven different homes for respite and this is the best one by far. I could not fault it at all. Everyone was brilliant, really kind and caring. I couldn't have found a better place to give my daughter, son in law and granddaughter a break as I have lived with them for a few years now since my husband died 14 years ago.

My daughter saw it on line. I would never ever go anywhere else for respite or permanently. I'd recommend it to anyone.

My mother has been a resident at Ladysmith Care Home for approximately three years and during that time has been treated with great care, respect and kindness. The staff are really great and the turnover of staff seems very low. The same careers have been involved with my mum's care all the time she has been a resident, so they know her really well and she is comfortable with them. Mum has been hospitalised a couple of times since moving to Ladysmith and staff have treated her like a family member when she has returned ensuring her every comfort, offering re-assurance and support to help her back to better health. I would happily recommend Ladysmith Care Home as a safe and caring home for those no longer able to cope on their own..

I'd like to say, I recently needed emergency respite for my mama as she lives with me and had been unwell for weeks. I'd done numerous spot checks on local residential homes and wasn't happy however as soon as I entered Ladysmith Care I felt totally at ease and so did my mama as I'd taken her with me because she had to be happy with it. The staff were so attentive and it felt right they were more than happy to carry out an assessment and did so, not only professionally but friendly. My mum was more than happy to stay under the circumstances. My daughter brought mums belongings and mama was booked in for 2 weeks. I was so relieved and grateful and most definitely will be using their care home in the future. I'm glad I didn't read ridiculous reviews, seems that they are all paperwork problems and not actual care, far too much time spent focusing on paperwork rather than what's needed ... CARE ... they were wonderful and have my vote, keep up the good work ladies. Thank you, much appreciated.

Since mum was admitted in May 2015, I have visited her frequently and have always felt reassured that she is well cared for.
The home is clean and bright and welcoming. The staff treat the residents with patience and kindness. I am always impressed by how gentle they are with everyone.
There seem to be many activities such as bingo, crafts, quizzes, a visiting singer etc.
Visitors are always made to feel welcome.

Although mum is confused at times, she does say how happy she is there and what a lovely place it is.

My sister has been a resident of Ladysmith Care Home since April 2012. She went there following a spell in hospital following a stroke after which she was not able to care for herself. Whilst in hospital it was also found that she has the onset of dementia. Ladysmith Care Home have provided excellent care and support to her since 2012 and following a recent fall which resulted in a broken hip and wrist they have nursed her back to being able to walk with the aid of her walking frame and continue to use her arm. My sister is 92 years of age.

I am treated with respect and humour after being swept out of my own home by flooding water! The red cross and local fire brigade soon had a big lighting system outside my house. I was taken into Ladysmith Care Home where I am being looked after with dignity. Now there's no place like home but there is the next best thing! Thank you all "God Bless you!"

My mother receives excellent care from all the staff. She is in good health and enjoys life here. The meals are well prepared and offer a good varied diet. The surroundings are well maintained and cleanliness seems high on the list of priorities. Overall I don't think you will find a better care home in this area which is well managed and has dedicated staff who always work in a professional manner.

Our close relative has been living at Ladysmith for 2 and half years. The family visit five/six times per week. The care has been consistently excellent.

The carers are empathetic and proficient; the senior staff and management are approachable and responsive. Liaison with outside agencies especially medical services is also very good. There are good social activities.

Since both my parents went to Ladysmith, they were treated with nothing but kindness. Sadly after my dad passed away, Ladysmith became my mum's home. The staff couldn't do any more to support my mum through this sad time. The care my mum receives is excellent and the way in which the home treats our family when we visit it makes us feel we are part of a larger family and always welcome. Thank you Ladysmith, you have put our minds at rest with the care, love and support you give to mum.

My mum was a resident at Ladysmith care home for nearly 3 years, sadly she passed away in December 2015. I just wanted to say that the care she received in the 3 years was excellent. The staff, senior carers and management have looked after her as if she was a family member from the day she arrived. The last week of her life was traumatic for the family but the palliative care given was dignified and loving, I would not have wanted her to be anywhere else, certainly not in the hospital, the comfort they gave to her and myself was second to none and I would without hesitation recommend this home to anyone seeking a safe, loving environment for those people most precious to us to live.
