The staff at Borrage House are first class. They go out of their way to ensure residents are cared for in every respect and to support me, as a wife of a resident.

They are introducing new activities e.g gardening (my husband told them he had an interest in this) and are taking residents to a garden centre to choose plants etc.

My mother has been a resident at Borrage House Care Home for two years plus and in all that time, she has received kind, caring and loving attention. Borrage House Care Home has a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are always most obliging and helpful. We, as a family, are very happy and grateful that our mother is safe and well looked after at Borrage House.

My Mum arrived early July at Borrage House after a long battle with frailty and poor mobility, for her safety as a family we chose Borrage House. We were very reluctant to make the decision but so pleased we chose Borrage House after doing lots of research of care homes in the area. Mum has settled in well and is doing so much better. She is well cared for, has a lovely room and loves the food! The staff are caring and helpful from the cleaners to the carers, the admin and the management. As a family we now have peace of mind and that is priceless for us. If Mum is happy then so are we. I absolutely recommend anyone to consider Borrage House and their wonderful team if they find themselves in the position of looking for a care facility that really does focus on care of their family members.

Mum was in Borrage House for nearly ten years. She was happy and settled there, mainly due to the dedication of the staff and the consideration of Mum's needs.
The activities she enjoyed most were the weekly quiz and the visits from the animals and birds.
When it came time for her passing, the carers provided support above and beyond their call of duty. They created a calm and peaceful environment in her room, which was a comfort for our family.

We would highly recommend Borrage House.

Our mother recently joined Borrage House, having been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She has been taken under the wing of the staff who have been very kind and welcoming. The communication has been great and we can go and visit whenever we like. The staff are respectful and friendly to residents and the activities they do are well thought out and engaging. It was a difficult decision to put her into a care home but we couldn't have chosen a better place for her. A real home from home where she is safe and very well looked after.

Mum has been looked after by Borrage for over 8 years and we could not have found a happier and more comfortable home to suit Mum’s needs both medical and for day-to-day care.
The staff throughout that period have been diligent, friendly and cheerful even when Mum could sometimes be quite awkward.
Their ongoing communication especially with the manager has been so helpful at often difficult times.

I would happily recommend Ripon Anchor Home.

Our step-mum was a resident of Borrage House for five years, sadly she had been diagnosed with dementia, just annoying to her at first, but as things progressed she needed more and more help to maintain a lifestyle of some dignity and comfort. All of this was provided by an excellent team of carers. She was a determined and outspoken lady who had been an R.A.F. officer, but at all times she was shown utmost respect and understanding. No more praise can be given for her care. Finally when it came time to say goodbye, once again the carers rose to the occasion and provided a calm and peaceful setting in her own room. Again words cannot say our thanks.

My mum spent her last three months at Borrage House and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for somewhere for a family member. All of the staff are absolutely amazing - from managers to ancillary staff and all in between. Everyone is kind, caring and compassionate and as I visited often at random times, not only did I feel they cared for my mum, but I also saw how happy the other residents are and how well the staff know each individual. I cannot rate them highly enough - amazing!

The staff were excellent at settling Mum into her new home. She was very anxious, but the manager and her team went that extra mile to make her transition a happy one. Everyone took the time to get to know her individual needs and to put her at ease. She absolutely loves the food and is taking part in the activities that are offered and I know that she is in safe and respectful hands. Thank you.

I would like to express our special thanks to all the staff we encountered on our first and subsequent visits to Borrage House. They are a credit to you. My mother was taken there on Friday 6th May at such short notice, after a real slow down in her health again. It was the response of Borrage and social services that made this move possible. I know it is the right move for Mother and has left me reassured about her well being, well into the future, she will be 98 years old in a few days time.

The facilities that this home offers are really high standards and together with super staff and management, it is the perfect place for my dear mother. Finally, I would like to place on record my special thanks to the manager and her assistant manager.

Borrage House is a happy caring home with friendly staff who try very hard to provide good care for the residents, in our experience. Borrage has been home for my mother for about 5 years and she continues to thrive beyond her century, probably in no small part to the excellent care she has received, including through the difficult period of the pandemic.

The highest accolade I can give to Borrage House is that when mum has left the property to visit us at home she is more than happy to go back as she says she feels very safe there. My mum has to have regular medication often through the day and tells me this is administered on the dot, always. The staff are upbeat, friendly and know just how to get the best out of my mum. The building and gardens are well maintained and clean. My mum loves gardening and Borrage House provided plants, planters and equipment for her to spruce up the patio area. She loves it and it looks fabulous. I have always had support and questions answered. I truly feel mum's welfare is at the heart of what they do and you couldn't ask for more for your mum.

Mum is treated as if she is one of their own relatives. I feel this is genuine. Staff are kind and sensitive to Mum’s needs. The chefs make fabulous food. They will make dishes they know are favourites (as far as they can!).
Over the past year, staff have tried really hard to entertain the residents and interact with them in a meaningful way. I feel staff have done whatever they could to keep residents cheerful and comfortable. It is, after all, their home. Staff have bought gifts for Mum, and even a fur coat, which has caused a lot of fun! It was on Mum’s wish list for Christmas. They checked it was ok.
Strict measures were in place during COVID and the staff have been brilliant. Borrage has remained a COVID free zone. I cannot thank them enough.
Everyone has been sympathetic to my plight as a daughter too. They really appreciate how difficult those ‘window’ visits were. They have become skilled at testing too.

I feel any concerns are treated seriously and resolved.

Very happy with general care provided. I am happy that staff always act in the best interests of the residents and treat them in an honest, appropriate and caring manner. My mother is content there and likes all the staff, which says a lot. She is happy with the food and facilities, though does not always take part in activities, due to her age. They contact me when they feel they need to, but not unnecessarily. Zoom and Skype calls can be arranged if requested.
I feel that the home would benefit from employing at least one member of staff with a nursing qualification. Particularly given that the staff are not always happy to perform some minor medical tasks such as cutting toenails. Doctors are however contacted promptly when required.

The home is clean and does not smell. It has a good reputation within the wider community and I would not hesitate to recommend it. If we needed to move my mother, I would consider another Anchor Trust home.

My mother is very happy in the care home and is supported and looked after by all the staff who are very kind and caring and they all attend to her needs. The catering is of a very high standard and the cleanliness and hygiene are of a very high standard and I am confident that all steps have been taken to make the home Covid 19 safe. The staff are very hardworking and conscientious and provide lots of activities and entertainment for all the residents.

My mum became a temporary resident after a hospital stay in August 2019 and later a permanent resident in September after she came to terms with no longer being able to cope. The managers and staff have provided excellent care for her and managed a very difficult elderly lady with kindness and patience. The atmosphere in the home was lovely when I visited, the public rooms are airy and friendly and staff always available. Since lockdown we have received regular newsletters with pictures and whilst mum much prefers her own company it is reassuring to know that whilst she does not socialize the opportunities are there and the staff and residents look happy in their community. On personal level-wise words, kindness and support given to me by staff and management have helped me greatly to cope with mum.

Borrage House has been providing excellent care for my aunt since February 2017 and my mother since July 2020. The care staff are kind and caring and treat the residents like family, the atmosphere is warm and friendly. They know each resident well and are attentive of their needs and treat them with respect and understanding. Families receive a newsletter each month with lovely pictures of the residents joining the various activities provided to keep them stimulated and entertained. We can also ring the home at any time to arrange a FaceTime with Mum and Aunt which is a lifesaver in these times and a lovely way to chat whilst they sit in their room with a cup of tea, and so reassuring to see Mums face as we talk and Mum can see us. It’s been such a relief to us as Mum was not coping at home to know that she is safe and secure, well feed and looked after to a high standard.

The manager and admin staff are friendly, approachable and organised the transfer into the home efficiently.
