There is not enough words allowed in this review to mention all of the positive things about Cranlea.
The staff are at the heart of what makes Cranlea so special. Leaving your loved one in the care of others is one of the hardest decisions to make.
We waited for a place to become available as we had been recommended it from three families we knew who had relatives living there.
We absolutely made the right choice.
The culture of the home and focus on outstanding patient care is apparent each and every day. Not just from the carers on the shop floor who are all amazing but management, admin, domestic and catering and laundry staff too.
The staff all treat grandad like he is one of their own. They support him and us and keep us up to date with everything.

Grandad has lived there for a year now and he is thankfully so settled even with his dementia and that's all down to the knowledge and experience that the staff have. I could not recommend this home any more, it is outstanding.

During her 14 months at Cranlea, Mam was clearly valued by the staff in the home. They got to know her as an individual and went above and beyond to try to make her time there as happy as possible. The staff are professional and caring, in particular, the team leaders, who supported us as relatives in addition to caring for Mam. Mam enjoyed joining in with the excellent range of activities available for the residents and particularly enjoyed the outings and visiting entertainers. The staff team try to ensure that Cranles is a happy home-from-home.

My Mother-in-law stopped at Cranlea for 2 weeks of respite. The care was of a high standard, my Mother-in-law was very happy, and the staff made her feel very comfortable. She also enjoyed the food. I would highly recommend this care home.

It was heartbreaking when we were no longer able to provide Dad with the care and support that he needed at home and had to find a new place for him to live. It is especially difficult when your loved one has dementia and you fear that those meeting him for the first time may not be able to see the kind, funny, warm gentleman beneath the lost and confused outer shell. Well, we need not have worried as the staff at Cranlea took Dad into their care and provided him with a safe, happy and welcoming home.

In the final days of his life, the generosity, kindness and compassion of the staff to my Dad and our family was truly appreciated. The genuine care and affection for my Dad was evident and a great comfort to us all. The funny stories the staff shared about my Dad's antics over his time in Cranlea made us smile and we knew that they were able to see the funny, cheeky side of him that we all knew and loved. The care, compassion and kindness of the whole team was exceptional. Thank you.

My father-in-law is happy in Cranlea, he always enjoys his meals. The staff are always chatty with us and him. If asked a question they will find out for you or make a note of your wishes. The atmosphere is friendly and my father-in-law enjoys the bingo. The lounge is lovely and the other residents wave and say hello when we pass by. It puts my mind at rest to know he is safe there.

So many good staff here it is unfair to single anyone out. My mother is a long-term resident and although dementia is a cruel and difficult disease, it has gone so much better than expected thanks to some attentive and wonderful staff to whom I will always be grateful. I would strongly recommend this care home.

The staff are very helpful and made the transition very easy! It is never easy for a loved one to move into a care home environment.
Always made to feel very welcome, and kept up to date with everything happening within the home.

I would not leave my mam in a home unless I was happy with all aspects of the home and the staff that work there. My mam has been in Cranlea for two years now, she is happy, as am I and I have no intention of moving her anywhere, says it all really. Thanks to all the staff at Cranlea, your hard work and dedication to the job, it's appreciated.

It was by pure chance that I selected Cranlea Care Home when my mother was being discharged from hospital and was no longer able to live independently. I thank my good luck that this has proved so successful for our family.
The residence is always clean, friendly and has the most welcoming staff.
Things at times can be difficult, with Covid restrictions, but the staff do all they can to accommodate the resident and families.

I would like to thank them all and would recommend this establishment wholeheartedly.

Mum came to Cranlea Care Home during the pandemic last year. I was very anxious about her safety and well-being and struggled to cope with the move, unnecessarily so. She is very well looked after and the staff are great, very friendly and helpful. I am pleased with her progress. The home is welcoming and there's a lovely garden. Entertainment and activities are getting back to normal and a lot of effort went into making the Jubilee celebrations a success. The food is good too. I would certainly recommend it.

I am very happy with Cranlea Care Home. The staff are really friendly, really caring toward Mam and Dad with a nothing is a bother attitude. I have had no communication problems when I have had the need to speak to someone. Keep up the tremendous work you are doing.

My mother is very well cared for and supported throughout. The carers assist my mother to be as independent as she can be. They are empathetic and understand the difficulties advanced dementia has on my mother. Cranlea has excelled in all the challenges the past years have thrown at us all.

Nobody wants their mum to go into a care home, you want them to grow old in their own home. Unfortunately, that isn't always possible. My mum needed care from 2018 and we chose Cranlea. It's a small home, so very intimate, where some of the staff have worked for over 20 years, now that's commitment. They have worked really hard through the pandemic and have managed to keep all the residents safe with their diligence. My mum has had a couple of falls due to her illness. The staff have been amazing looking after her, ensuring she gets every medical intervention possible. Keeping me updated on what is happening and not only supporting my mum but me too. This is what is important when choosing a place, it's the care given that counts. This is what your loved one needs. People who know them, care for them and actually make them feel they are part of a big family. If that's what you want for your relative then you can't go wrong with Cranlea.

Cranlea carers were amazing from the first telephone call. My mam was their first concern. The care and safety offered was first rate. They got to know mam straight away, making sure they knew what she liked, taking in little details of how exactly she likes her bed at night etc. They also made every effort to help me settle mam in. It was obvious they knew how difficult it was for me to hand over mams care. They were fantastic.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Helped massively with moving my grandma in, very reassuring it was the right thing. Any questions/requests they follow up. The home itself is a bit dated, wooden windows, blinds not fully working/no curtains in room. Furniture is dated in bedroom. Could do with decorating but my grandma is well looked after, always well presented.

Reply from Laura Barnett, Manager at Cranlea

Thank you for taking the time to review Cranlea and we are pleased that you rate our care/support as excellent. I will pass on your lovely comments to our team. We are looking at changing our window frames going forward. We will arrange to have the current blind removed in your grandmother’s room...
