My mam is on the final pathway, and I cannot thank the carers enough for all they are doing for my mam. This home has careers that care! Everyone has been very supportive of our family.

I've been delighted with Whorlton Grange since my father went into care in February this year. He has looked better every time we see him and the opportunity to meet in the "pod" has been wonderful.
Well done and thank you to everyone for great work during the pandemic.

My husband has been very well looked after by all the carers. Last year he was in hospital quite a number of times, this year nothing! The carers are wonderful in keeping the resident's spirits up. It is good to know they are virus-free. Many thanks to everybody at Whorlton Grange. Keep up the good
work.

The care home is well run and staff are very helpful and a credit to their profession. It is clean and the meals are excellent and the staff and activities keep the residents happy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for a family member.

Brilliant care for my mam. Fantastic staff who have done a fantastic job through the lockdown. Home is extremely well managed and all the staff are approachable. The home does an amazing job of keeping me informed how my mam is doing when I can't see her as much due to lockdown.
I would highly recommend
this home to others.

Mam is in Whorlton Grange temporary at the moment. She is well looked after, the staff have been marvellous with her and she has settled there well. It was a very big decision for us as a family for Mam to go into care. She is mixing with other residents and enjoying the company and I know she is safe
24/7. She's had her hair done on a couple of occasions as well as the hairdresser visiting the home. She's enjoying the food which always looks lovely and well presented. The location of the home and the gardens are beautiful. She's had a lot of family visiting her over the last few weeks and they were all really impressed as well. The staff brought tea and coffee for Mam's relatives when they were there. I hope Mam will be able to stay in Whorlton Grange permanently as it's a lovely care home with lovely staff.

Whorlton Grange is an attractive building set in well-maintained grounds with well-appointed, clean, fresh, ensuite rooms. It has the feel of a hotel rather than a care home. The food is good and the menu varied, however, the staff willingly accommodate my mother's rather eccentric requests. Indeed
it is the staff that make Whorlton Grange special. My mother is not the easiest character to manage, but when faced with challenging situations they have, not only supported my mother with their time and understanding, being proactive in finding solutions, but they have been so helpful to me personally. I cannot speak highly enough of them.

The care home is of a very good standard with really nice care workers. The staff and management are friendly and always have time for everyone. Excellent food and always very clean. Knowing that my mother is happy is everything. One of the managers has always put herself out to chat and I think this
makes a difference.

I cannot express enough our gratitude and thanks to the staff at Whorlton Grange. My Dad has been with them for a number of years and during his time with them, they treated him as one of their own family. In his last weeks, the care dedication and love for him was beyond just a job. I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend the team to care for a family member.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.160)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.160) out of 10 for Whorlton Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.774 for Whorlton Grange is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.774
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.386 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whorlton Grange is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.686
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
