My Mum has settled in very well here at Whorlton Grange. She is happy and content, which is a marked improvement to how she was at home at times. I am confident in the staff and the care they provide for Mum. The home is a warm and safe environment.

Whorlton Grange is a lovely place for my mother. She has dementia and gets lots of attention to keep her happy. When I was there this morning she was very bubbly and singing away to herself. She used to forget to eat at home but now has seconds whenever she wants. There are lots of activities for her
and she is taken to places regularly. The staff are very helpful and let me know if she needs anything bringing in.

Very expensive at £725 a week - but all care homes are. All staff have been great with Dad and us in all our dealings.

Food is excellent - he has put on weight.

My mam has been a resident in Whorlton Grange since March 2018. The home has a lovely homely feeling, the staff are very caring and show my mam respect and dignity. My mam has dementia and in what has been one of the most difficult times in my life the staff at Whorlton Grange have eased the burden
for me. I know my mam is looked after.

This home Whorlton Grange is the best home out of all the homes I've been in, it is 'home from home'. Staff are excellent they are treated just like family, I'd definitely recommend it to everyone. The residents are cared for, nothing is too much trouble, they are loved and spoilt. They say love is
the richest possession of all, health is wealth - this home extends the ages of all patients. God Bless them always.

We have been impressed by the caring staff who quickly got to know my mother and who have made her very welcome. They have helped her settle in and she now feels a part of the community in the home. Her health issues seem to be addressed and carefully monitored.
The atmosphere in the home is calm
and friendly. There seems to be a good number of staff on hand whenever we visit and there is a good range of activities for residents to take part in.
The facilities are very good. There is a variety of communal spaces for residents from a bigger, more lively lounge to a quieter space, a garden and a courtyard. The dining room is light and spacious. My mother's own room is very comfortable.

The home and staff show a high degree of care even when under pressure. In my ministry over many years and visiting many homes, this is by far the best.

I feel confident that my father is getting the best of care. All the staff are caring and attentive and work very hard to keep him safe and happy. Trip out and activities help to add interest and stimulation for the residents. His lovely room is spacious and homely. Beautifully decorated and a spacious

All the staff at Whorlton Grange have gone out of their way to make me feel at home. I have a nice bedroom and a lovely view of the gardens and golf course beyond. The gardener keeps the gardens looking beautiful and always gives me a cheery wave and smile. I have recently been able to go to a show
at the Sage and a lovely carer stayed with me the whole the time and we had sole use of the minibus and driver. I really enjoyed the day and my family do appreciate the care and thoughtfulness shown to me.

I find my mother well cared for and treated with dignity. The fact that the carers like my mother gives me a great sense of relief as I know she will be looked after and cared for. I'm always informed by the staff of my mothers care and kept up to date as to her health, weight etc.

My dad came from the hospital after approx 10 weeks in 2 different hospitals, and on his first night here he settled. After 2 weeks now he feels very comfortable in his room and with the staff. I do not have to worry that he is not being cared for. The staff are kind and obliging. My dad is kept very
clean and his condition is improving with care and support. I am comfortable to visit anytime I wish and always feel welcome.

I was overwhelmed with the kindness shown (I cried). I was pleased with his room and all the facilities on offer. I noticed all the residents were dressed and clean. There seemed to be lots of tea and bickies on offer! I look forward to any future visits my husband may make.

Having never used a care provider before I was unsure what to expect. From the moment my mother was greeted when she arrived, the staff have been professional, helpful and installed full confidence in me that she is being fully cared for. They are very attentive and always manage to keep my mother smiling.

Whorlton Grange is located in a nice area next to a golf course. It is a very attractive stone built group of buildings with well kept gardens. The interior is spacious and spotlessly maintained. The available facilities are first class. The atmosphere gives the impression of a happy and well organised
operation with well trained and attentive staff although I do understand that the staff level is currently is not what it should be.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.160)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.160) out of 10 for Whorlton Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.774 for Whorlton Grange is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.774
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.386 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whorlton Grange is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.686
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
